10,000x Rebate System: Every Return Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 20: BloodlineBloodline.
Amon had heard the term before, but until now, he had never given it much thought.
In this world, a bloodline wasn’t simply something inherited from one’s parents.
It was the result of an awakened person’s power becoming deeply integrated with their body.
Normally, an awakened individual could strengthen their body, mana, and soul through cultivation.
But once an adventurer reached Level 50, something fundamentally changed.
By that point, their power had become so deeply intertwined with their biology that it could begin altering their physical structure.
Their mana pathways, organs, cells, and even their genetic makeup could gradually be affected by their accumulated power.
Some awakened ones even evolve extra organs related to their powers, such as ears, tongues, and much more.
And when someone like that had children, a portion of their power could be passed down to the next generation.
That was how a bloodline was born.
Some bloodlines were weak and disappeared after a few generations.
Others became stronger as they were passed from parent to child, eventually becoming powerful enough to define entire families.
There were also awakened individuals who discovered ways to deliberately use their bloodlines.
They could create restrictions, activate ancient artifacts, or even seal incredibly powerful objects.
And apparently...
That was exactly what had happened with the knife in Amon’s possession.
’Someone used a bloodline to create the seal.’
Amon looked down at the ancient knife resting on his desk.
The weapon still looked completely ordinary.
There wasn’t even a trace of the terrifying power that its actual value suggested.
’The question is... whose bloodline can unlock it?’
Amon rubbed his chin.
He had no idea where to even begin looking.
Finding someone with the right bloodline wasn’t exactly something he could accomplish by walking around the city and asking random people.
’And what exactly did they seal inside this thing?’
The thought made him slightly excited.
Something valuable enough to be worth one hundred thousand gold coins couldn’t possibly contain something ordinary.
It might be an ancient weapon, a powerful skill, a treasure, or perhaps something even more ridiculous.
Amon sighed. ’I’ll figure it out eventually.’
He wasn’t going to force the issue when he didn’t even know what he was looking for.
For now, the knife could simply remain in his possession.
Amon looked toward the clock before closing his eyes.
He still had one more thing to finish.
The [Mana Furnace].
---
Several hours later, Amon finally completed his daily quota of Mana Furnace training.
He sat on the edge of his bed while breathing heavily.
The Mana Furnace inside his body slowly became quiet after processing another enormous amount of energy.
Amon wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Finally..."
His body felt completely exhausted.
He leaned backward and collapsed onto the bed.
After resting for a few seconds, Amon turned his head toward the ancient knife sitting on the nearby table.
He reached over and picked it up.
The old weapon felt surprisingly heavy in his hand.
Amon lifted it above his face and examined the blade.
’What am I supposed to do with you?’
He slowly rotated the knife.
’And where am I supposed to find someone with the right bloodline?’
There was also another question that bothered him. ’What exactly are you sealing?’
Amon’s eyes remained on the knife.
If the object inside the seal was truly powerful, then its value could be far greater than even the System’s estimate.
But he couldn’t help remembering the elderly man from the antique shop.
Amon’s expression immediately became awkward. ’Hopefully, I never see that old man again.’
He had already lied about being some mysterious master.
If they crossed paths again, there was a good chance the old man would ask him to actually treat his heart condition or his granddaughter.
Amon didn’t even know anything about medicine. ’Please don’t let that happen.’
He placed the knife on the table before pulling the blanket over himself.
Amon closed his eyes. ’Tomorrow is another day.’
Within minutes, exhaustion finally dragged him into sleep.
---
The next morning, Amon walked out of his room after getting ready for Walton Academy.
He adjusted the straps of his training weights before grabbing his bag.
However, as he walked toward the door, something caught his attention.
Ambrosia was sleeping on the sofa again.
Amon stopped and stared at her for several seconds.
’Again?’
She was still wearing her clothes from yesterday, although they were slightly wrinkled from sleeping.
Her dark hair was scattered across the pillow while her usually elegant face looked exhausted.
Amon sighed. ’Why does she keep doing this?’
He quietly grabbed a blanket and walked toward her.
He carefully covered her body, but as he turned around, he suddenly heard something.
"...Don’t go."
Amon stopped as he looked back at Ambrosia.
Her eyes remained closed, and she seemed to still be asleep.
"Please don’t go..."
Her voice was barely audible.
Amon’s expression became complicated. He didn’t know what she was dreaming about.
For a moment, he simply stood there. He slowly closed his eyes and let out a quiet sigh.
’She’s probably dreaming about Gordon.’
There was nothing he could say.
Amon turned around and walked toward the door.
He quietly left the apartment without waking her.
---
By the time Amon arrived at Walton Academy, the morning crowd had already filled the hallways.
He walked toward his classroom while adjusting the strap of his bag.
However, the moment he stepped inside, something felt strange.
Everyone was looking at him.
Amon stopped near the entrance. "...What?"
Several students immediately looked away while others whispered among themselves.
Amon frowned. ’What the hell happened?’
He hadn’t done anything particularly strange yesterday.
At least, nothing that should have become public.
He silently walked toward his usual seat and sat down.
The whispers continued, and Amon eventually became irritated but decided not to ask anyone.
’Whatever.’
A few minutes later, the classroom door suddenly swung open.
The conversations immediately became quieter, and Amon looked toward the entrance.
A familiar blue-haired girl was standing there.
Seraphina looked into the classroom as though she were searching for someone.
Her eyes eventually landed on Amon.
For a brief moment, her expression softened as she stepped inside.
"Amon."
The entire classroom became strangely quiet.
Seraphina ignored everyone else and walked directly toward him.
She stopped beside his desk.
"Come outside."
Amon blinked. "...Why?"
Seraphina’s cheeks slowly became pink.
She glanced at the surrounding students before lowering her voice. "I need to talk to you."
Amon looked around the classroom as everyone was staring at them.
His eyebrow twitched.
’Ah.’ He suddenly understood why everyone had been looking at him. ’This is definitely about Seraphina.’
Amon slowly stood up. "Alright."
Seraphina immediately turned around and walked toward the door.
Amon followed her, but as he stepped outside the classroom, he couldn’t help wondering what had happened this time.
’...Don’t tell me she is going to try to return the gift again.’
