The old woman remained sitting on the cold floor, her silver mask lay beside her like a discarded relic, and the dark cavern was completely silent except for the pathetic ragged breathing of the old woman.

After the Yin-Illusion Flesh Art collapsed, the terrifying sect elder from moments ago looked no different from an ordinary seventy-eight-year-old grandmother.

Her back was bent.

Her breathing was uneven.

Even standing up looked difficult.

Gu Fan stared down at her wrinkled frail body heartbreak. The sheer contrast between the voluptuous, massive-breasted assassin from a few minutes ago and this incredibly ugly, centuries old hag was completely twisting his stomach.

Gu Fan stared at her for several breaths before shaking his head, "What terrible luck."

The old woman glared, "You still can’t get over it?"

"I spent half the fight thinking I had encountered a beautiful demoness." Gu Fan sighed, "I did things to you in my mind, you wouldn’t have even dreamt of."

He pointed at the broken mask, "Turns out I was fighting somebody old enough to lecture my ancestors."

"You little beast!" The old woman wheezed weakly, coughing up another mouthful of blood directly onto her thin, bony hands, "You hid your strength well. I thought you were just a useless, arrogant nobody... but you are actually a terrifying monster."

"And I completely thought you were a spicy piece of meat waiting to be wrecked in my bed," Gu Fan sneered, kicking a small rock straight into her frail shoulder, "But you are nothing but a wrinkly old cow trying to taste tender young grass. You were bound to upset your stomach. What else did you expect?"

"Hahaha" The old woman let out a broken laugh that rattled her ribcage, as she picked up the loose stone and threw it back at Gu Fan.

The stone bounced harmlessly off Gu Fan’s chest.

He looked down at the stone and teased, "...That was surprisingly weak."

"I have exhausted my Qi." the woman replied.

"So have I." Gu Fan shrugged.

She snorted, "Then why are you still standing?"

Gu Fan grinned, "Because unlike you, I don’t have aching knees."

"..."

The old woman’s eye twitched, "You deserve to be beaten."

"I have heard that today too," Gu Fan leaned against the wall.

"You are ruthless, boy," she muttered weakly, her dull gray eyes actively looking up at his handsome face, "But my Nether Orchid Demonic Sect has seen far worse monsters than you."

"I don’t give a fuck about your pathetic sect," Gu Fan interrupted, "I am only keeping your useless head attached to your neck is because I want my loot.

"So. Now that we have finished insulting each other..." Gu Fan said, his expression became serious, "Let’s talk business."

"The Gu Clan caravans. The Emperor’s tribute." Gu Fan reminded her, "You stole everything. So where is it?"

The old woman remained silent, She slowly looked toward the darkness of the tunnel, "You truly surprised this old one."

Gu Fan folded his arms, "That wasn’t the question."

"I know," She smiled faintly.

"When I first saw you, I thought you were the self-righteous genius waving a shiny sword." The woman continued, "Instead... I found a little monster."

"Our Phantom Sirens have existed for over three hundred years." The woman spoke, her eyes looking into nothingness, "We were born from chaos."

"When great sects fought over territory, we sold death."

"When kingdoms went to war, we sold victory."

"When righteous cultivators made enemies..." She chuckled softly, "... They secretly came to us."

"Wonderful history!" Gu Fan yawned, "But can we talk about the tribute? Where is it?"

"I will tell you exactly where it is," the old woman wheezed slowly, slowly closing her tired, "But before I die in this dark hole, let this old woman pour her heart out.

"Oh, for heavens’ sake," Gu Fan groaned rolling his eyes. He loved writing those massive lores that dying villains started dropping massive lore dumps. But now that he was at the receiving end of it, he absolutely did not have the patience to hear it.

"Speed it up, you old hag! I have valuable spirit stones waiting for me!"

But the old woman ignored his complaints, as she started speaking with a deeply nostalgic tone about her evil sect.

"For hundreds of years, the Nether Orchid Demonic Sect had ruled over the entire southern regions with absolute terror," she whispered proudly, "We were a completely all-female sect of supreme dual-cultivators and lethal assassins. We drained the Yang energy of thousands of arrogant righteous hypocrites into our wombs to feed our cultivation."

"In our golden age, even Nascent Soul cultivators avoided provoking us," There was a hint of arrogance in her voice, "Our assassins crossed kingdoms. Our information network stretched across the five provinces and beyond."

Gu Fan wanted to just slit her throat and be done with it, but he held back his intrusive thoughts and just stood there.

"Everyone lived in fear of our blades," she continued weakly, "Our Sect Master at the time was the Crimson Moon Empress, Yin Luo,"

"She alone carried our sect to new heights! She was a supreme 9th Stage Profound Realm powerhouse."

"One order from her... And entire clans would vanish overnight."

"Good for her. But I will be honest," Gu Fan scratched his ear, "I am losing interest. So can we skip to the part where you hide the massive shiny boxes?"

She clicked her tongue, "Young people have no patience."

"I have patience." Gu Fan pretended to yawn, "I just don’t have enough to listen to your autobiography."

The old woman pretended not to hear him as she continued.

"The Crimson Moon Empress was a true heaven-defying genius," She told Gu fan with a deeply instilled awe and respect for this sect master of hers, "She created our sect’s greatest inheritance and techniques."

"The Thousand Veil Illusion Art."

"The Blood Shadow Movement Technique."

"The Nine Lives Assassination Scripture."

"And many more. I can’t even express the gratitude we owe her in just words."

"But..." Before Gu Fan could interrupt her again, she sighed.

"Everything changed twenty-five years ago."

’Ugghh! I should just kill her!’
