Chapter 204: Pleasure before BusinessWalking out of the Gu Clan, Gu Fan casually walked through the streets of Poison Valley Town.
Merchants shouted over one another from both sides of the road, spirit beasts pulled heavily loaded carts through the crowded marketplace, and the rich aroma of roasted beast meat mixed with burning incense drifted lazily through the air.
Vendors shouted from both sides of the street.
"Fresh Spirit Beast meat! 2 Jins for 100 Spirit Stones."
"Spirit Grade talismans! 1 for 50, 2 for 80!"
"Swords on sale! Buy everything under 99"
"Spirit Wine! Buy two jars and get one free!"
But he ignored every single stall as he thought about the chaos Gu Clan was probably in.
Gu Bao was likely smashing furniture.
Gu Chen was probably grinding his teeth.
The elders were definitely arguing over politics.
And Madam Li was probably going through her dresses to wear later tonight.
As for Gu Fan...
He couldn’t care less.
"Let them fight." Gu Fan grinned caressing the spatial ring on his finger, "The more distracted they are, the easier my life becomes."
Meanwhile, as Gu Fan walked through the streets, the locals were quick to whisper among themselves.
The noisy chatter would die down to a buzz as the shopkeepers would lower their heads respectfully while others stepped out of his way.
"That’s him..." Someone whispered stealing glances at Gu Fan, "Young Master Gu Fan?"
"Shhshh! Don’t point at him. Don’t you know what he did to Bai Yun?"
"He is so ruthless... I bet he can go head to head with even Gu Chen."
"Keep your voice down. If you offend him, you are as good as dead."
Gu Fan smiled, ’It feels nice when people finally learn some manners.’
Fame was useful. But fear was even more useful.
He however had no time to gloat. The spatial rings in his fingers were overflowing with the unimaginable wealth he had looted from the Phantom Sirens and a bit more from the Blood Fiend Demonic Sect guys.
The sheer volume of resources was enough to run both the Gu and Bai Clan for years to come.
Rare herbs, Beast cores, Elixirs, Spirit stones, Weapons and much more.
The quantity was so much that even Gu Fan hadn’t bothered counting everything yet.
As he thought about it. a faint smile appeared on his face, "I am going to get lucky today."
While whispers followed him all the way, Gu fan soon found him standing the magnificent building of Heavenly Treasure Pavilion.
The moment the guards spotted him, their expressions changed.
"Young Master Fan!" The two guards immediately bowed down a complete ninety degree, "Welcome back."
And then without waiting for instructions, they hurriedly pushed open the massive wooden doors for Gu Fan.
Gu Fan casually nodded at them before walking inside, "keep up the good work."
"Yes, Young Master Fan!"
Inside the Heavenly Treasure Pavilion, the luxurious lobby was as lively as ever.
Merchants bargained loudly for a better price, the appraisers examined precious treasures while the servants hurried between counters carrying trays of spiritual tea.
But as soon as Gu Fan entered, several employees noticed Gu Fan and they stopped what they were doing.
Stealing glances at Gu fan, they whispered to one another and within seconds, everyone in the hall had already straightened their backs.
Nobody dared to stop him.
Nobody asked for identification.
Everyone knew exactly who he was. Manager Su Mei’s honoured guest.
Anyone foolish enough to offend him would probably be cleaning the pavilion’s spirit beast stables for the next decade.
Gu Fan walked straight up the grand spiral staircase toward the restricted, exclusive top floor.
A young maid hurried over towards him, "Young Master Gu, shall I announce your arrival?" She respectfully asked.
"No need," Gu Fan waved his hand.
She immediately stepped aside, "I understand."
A few moments later, Gu Fan reached the large doors at the end of the corridor and without knocking, he pushed them open.
Su Mei was sitting elegantly behind her expansive crystal desk, bathing in the soft glow of an overhead spirit lamp.
She was reviewing a thick stack of complex parchment ledgers, a delicate frown marring her flawless features.
But the second the heavy doors clicked shut, her dark, seductive eyes locked onto Gu Fan’s face, and the frown melted into a blossoming smile.
"Master."
She immediately set down her brush and stood.
She wore a black silk cheongsam that wrapped tightly around her narrow waist, while her deep cleavage were visible for Gu Fan to appreciate.
The gold embroidery of a coiled serpent wrapped around the silk, mirroring the deadly grace of the woman wearing it.
"I was beginning to wonder whether you had decided to live inside that poisonous swamp."
Gu Fan laughed.
"It wasn’t exactly comfortable enough to settle down."
Su Mei slowly walked around the desk.
Her eyes carefully swept over him from head to toe.
"No injuries?"
"Nothing worth mentioning."
"I heard rumors."
"Already? You have pretty good ears."
"They said Blood Fiend Sect experts surrounded you."
"They did."
"And?"
"They are dead."
"You are always so nonchalant about stuff," Su Mei shook her head helplessly.
"What should I say instead?" Gu Fan curiously asked.
"You should start off with something like... I heroically exterminated evil and returned after shaking heaven and earth?" Su Mei straightened her body and said pumping her chest.
"I have a lot to learn," Gu Fan nodded.
"That you do," Su Mei said teasing, "Well all that matters is that you are safe."
"I told you I wouldn’t die in some pathetic, toxic swamp, Sister Mei," Gu Fan chuckled casually.
"And on my way back, I got you some souvenirs," And saying so, Gu Fan raised his right hand and ...
CLATTER! CRASH!
Treasures poured onto the crystal desk like a glittering waterfall.
Spirit stones scattered across the polished surface.
Bloodstained beast cores landed with heavy thuds, each radiating astonishing amounts of energy.
Rare medicinal herbs filled the room with a dense spiritual fragrance.
Within moments...
A massive, absurd mountain of pure wealth erupted from the ring, crashing heavily onto the crystal desk like a glowing waterfall of treasure.
The spacious crystal desk had completely disappeared beneath a mountain of priceless resources along with the ledgers.
Even the surrounding spiritual energy became noticeably denser.
Su Mei looked at the pile with her eyes wide open like a button, and then looked at Gu Fan.
Finally after a long silence, she pinched the bridge of her nose, "Every single time."
Gu Fan folded his arms, "I assume that’s a compliment."
"It means every time you leave town..." Su Mei sighed in amusement, "My treasury prepares itself for emotional damage."

"Then you better get to work as soon as possible, Sister Mei," Gu Fan ordered, crossing his muscular arms over his broad chest. A cocky, arrogant smirk rested on his face, "A bunch of people had to lose their lives just to keep the stoves burning in your Heavenly Treasure Pavilion. They wouldn’t like it if you made me wait."
Gu Fan expected Su Mei’s face to light up with a greedy smile as her sight fell on the mountain of Spirit Stones and the rest of the loot.
Anyone else would be hyperventilating at the sight of century-old herbs and flawless beast cores.
But Su Mei didn’t even glance at the glowing spirit stones. Her eyes remained fixed on him.
Instead of reaching for the rare beast cores or appraising the spatial rings, Su Mei simply took a slow step towards Gu Fan.
Her thick, seductive thighs brushed against the high slits of her tight black cheongsam as she walked around the desk to close the distance between them.
"Do you honestly think I only care about business when you are standing in front of me, Master?"
"With you here..."
"Pleasure always comes before Business."
