Haru returned to the guild, he was a little stronger, but not strong enough to kill the monsters with a single shot, but that was his fault. If he were less lazy, he could become super strong in less than two minutes, but he preferred to waste the opportunities.
On the way, he read a webtoon about a guy who killed monsters with a single blow. He liked the work, but at the same time, it did not motivate him to become stronger.
Haru gave up on using his usual weapon and went back to the good old hammer, even though he preferred something like a baseball bat. But it was what he had available at that moment.
The gorgons died with a single blow, but the blood flying around and disappearing caused some bad thoughts in him, so he went back to the sword. That helped reduce the amount of blood flying around. But he did not know how to hold a sword properly, he used both hands, and the strong movements ended up hurting his shoulder. He felt a lot of pain when he went to kill an orc, but Hina used healing magic and he got better. But after only three strikes, he injured himself once again.
"You need to take some kind of course on how to use weapons," Hina said while casting healing magic.
"Did you make the same movements when you used the bat?"
"Yes, I made the same movements, somehow that bat was lighter, but it is almost falling apart."
"How can a baseball bat be lighter than this thin sword?"
Haru took the wooden bat out of his inventory and gave the sword and the bat to Mio to carry. She held the sword first and then the bat, then she held the sword again.
"It’s true, this wooden bat is much lighter than the sword, but the blade is so thin and the grip is made of leather. How is that possible?"
Hina held the bat and stared at it, then she struck it hard against the ground and the bat broke, its interior was completely hollow.
"That’s why, you spent a long time using a crappy bat."
Haru felt a pain in his chest, not because he had any attachment to the bat, but because he did not want her to break it.
"That makes sense, I paid three copper coins for it at a garage sale, I managed to buy a watch too, but it broke in two days."
Mio said nothing, she just kept thinking about what kind of person he was.
"Let’s go to the sixteenth floor," Mio said while thrusting her dagger into an orc’s stomach.
"What happened to the crystals?"
"I don’t know, my father didn’t tell me anything else about them, I think they are only activated when that other item is activated. I’m not sure, but I believe my father will find a way or he will destroy all the crystals so that no one else can use that."
Masaru tried to activate the crystals by himself, but he failed, in fact, it was necessary to use the ring to use the power of the items. Because of that, he decided to put the crystals in a safe place. Under the dungeon, there was a basement, the thick walls had magical protection, no energy could enter or leave, and no magical item could be used in that room.
Any magic or mana contained in any item was absorbed by the walls, and the energy was converted to be used in the guild. It was a way to save on electricity expenses, although it was very expensive to build a place like that.
Masaru inherited the place and had never found any use for that basement, not until that moment.
He placed the fourteen crystals on the floor, and the walls began to glow. A core changed color, which meant that the crystals had much more energy than the core could hold, but Masaru had a solution for that.
Consume electricity. The guild did not consume energy from the electric company, they used energy generated by an internal forge. Every day, Kaede threw a few slime crystals into the forge, the fire consumed the crystals and transformed everything into electricity.
The guild itself was very economical, the daily consumption rarely exceeded four slime crystals. But there were some machines that Masaru had installed for his alchemist sister, they had never been turned on, since the energy consumption never paid for the potions that were heated. Even so, he never got rid of the machines. At that moment, he had a great use for them.
Many crystals and drops were placed in the machines, Masaru turned them all on and several cauldrons began to heat up.
"Finally you managed to find a use for this," Kaede said while putting chimera blood into one of the cauldrons.
"Actually, I could find some other uses, I could hunt slimes myself and put them in here, but I never felt like using them. My sister would do a better job and make better use of them than I would."
"I never understood why you like alchemy, your potions could never compare to those made by an alchemist. But at the same time, your sister makes potions that aren’t very good," Kaede said, choosing her words carefully.
But it was true, Chihiro was not an example of an alchemist, it even seemed like her class was wrong. But it was simply carelessness. She had always liked to innovate and hated following recipes, which was why the potions she made could never be sold for a proper price. Masaru bought almost all of her production. He stopped buying when the guild began having problems.
In the guild, there were the potions his sister made, the potions he made, and potions made by good alchemists. Those potions sold faster, and people who did not want to spend much, or did not know any better, bought the potions from the two siblings. But the buyers always regretted it afterward.
But there were those who always preferred to save money, those people kept buying the potions even though they were not very good.
Mio attacked two more monsters while looking for the door to the seventeenth floor. She wanted to reach the twentieth floor in less than five days, she wanted to test her new strength against an earth dragon.
A monster more resistant than any monster that could be found before the fortieth floor. Even though it had very high defense, the monster did not have much attack power, what made things difficult was when these monsters gathered in groups, killing them became very difficult. But with enough power, these monsters were a great way to make money and be certain that she had reached enough power to go to the intermediate floors.
"We can’t keep using healing magic all the time, go back to using the pistol and then we’ll see about getting you some sword or another weapon that suits you better."
"No, we need to find an instructor, your movements are terrible."
