First, a large number of technicians at Vivida Conditioning quit.

Then the bank pulled its loans from their company.

Some of the deals they'd already nailed down were also unilaterally canceled by the partners.

Under this kind of pressure.

Bryson Schultz fell ill in no time.

Left with no choice.

Sheryl Schultz could only take over Vivida Electronics halfway through.

After taking over, the biggest problem Sheryl faced was funding.

So she went to see the deputy party secretary of the municipal committee, Zolan Summers.

By bribing Zolan Summers and other means, he agreed to approve a 680 million loan for Sheryl, but nobody expected that right at this critical juncture, something happened to Zolan Summers.

The loan business went down the drain just like that.

She was helpless.

Sheryl had no choice but to turn to Mayor Norman Ross.

Norman Ross took a fancy to Sheryl's beauty and tried several times in a row to lay his hands on her.

Sheryl of course wouldn't agree.

This noon.

Norman Ross called her, asked her to come by his office to talk about the loan, but it never crossed her mind that Norman would actually try to force himself on her; if Dirk Carter hadn't stepped in in time, she would probably have been violated already.

Sheryl laid out the whole story.

Dirk felt a bit complicated inside as well.

The reason Zolan Summers went down was Dirk's doing.

And now he had inexplicably saved Sheryl.

Fate really did have a twisted sense of humor.

"We can't just keep hiding like this. If Norman Ross can't find you, he'll definitely go after the company."

Dirk said.

Sheryl nodded.

She said, "I know. But I can't just leave you here and ignore you. Otherwise I'd really be heartless. All right, you stay put for now, I'll go clean up the place."

With that said.

Sheryl went into the bathroom.

After a while.

Sheryl came out carrying a bucket of water.

She started wiping down the sofa and coffee table with a damp towel.

Dirk couldn't just sit and watch anymore.

He asked, "Got another towel and a bucket? I'll help."

"I think there's more inside."

Sheryl said.

Dirk went into the bathroom and found a towel as well.

The two of them got busy in the room.

After they bustled around for roughly two hours, the room that had been filthy before was now cleaned up and spotless.

Of course.

Those two hours of work.

The clothes on both of them were filthy by now.

Their faces were also covered in dust and grime.

They took one look at each other's sorry state and both burst out laughing.

Soon.

It was getting dark outside.

Only then did they realize that although Sheryl had brought some instant noodles and biscuits, she hadn't prepared any change of clothes, not even bed sheets.

Bathing and sleeping both turned into a big problem for the two of them.

For the next few days, were they really not going to change or wash the filthy clothes they were wearing?

Dirk paused for a moment and said, "How about I go out and buy some things?"

He had just gotten ready to go out.

When Sheryl grabbed him by the arm.

She said nervously, "No, you can't go out. Even though this is an old part of town, there are security cameras everywhere. If they catch you here, it won't take long for the police to show up."

"Then what do we do? Our clothes are all completely filthy."

Dirk said.

Sheryl thought for a moment.

Then asked, "Are you wearing pants underneath?"

"Just a pair of underwear."

Dirk said.

Sheryl's face flushed.

She said, "How about this, you go shower first. After you wash up, just stay in your underwear, then wash the clothes you had on. Tomorrow when they're dry, you can wear them again."

For now, that was the only option.

After Dirk walked into the bathroom.

He soaked his dirty clothes in the bucket, then took a long, hot shower.

He put that pair of underwear back on.

After fussing around for a bit, he finally came out of the bathroom.

Seeing Dirk with only a pair of underwear on, Sheryl quickly turned her face away.

She said, "It's… it's getting late. We should get some sleep."

"Where am I sleeping?"

Dirk asked.

With her hands behind her back, Sheryl pointed to one of the rooms they had just cleaned.

She said, "You sleep in that one, I'll sleep in the other."

Dirk nodded.

He went into that room.

After he closed the door.

Dirk froze.

In the small bedroom, there was nothing but a bed.

No sheets or pillows, and he was practically naked—how was he supposed to sleep like this?

He looked up.

Fortunately, there was an old air conditioner still hanging on the wall.

He turned it on to test it, and it actually still blew warm air.

Otherwise he'd probably freeze to death tonight.

He hung the washed clothes up near the air outlet.

Then Dirk tried lying down on the bare mattress.

But with no pillow, there was no position that felt comfortable.

He remembered there were a few books on the shelf in the living room that could be used as a pillow.

Without thinking too much, Dirk opened the door.

The scene before his eyes stunned him on the spot.

His room's door happened to face the bathroom door directly.

The moment he stepped out, Sheryl also happened to come out of the bathroom. Although she was wearing a bra on top, holding up her two big "white rabbits," her lower half was completely bare.

The dark patch of hair was laid out before his eyes.

"Ah…"

Sheryl let out a scream of fright.

Her face flushed scarlet.

She quickly used her hands to cover her triangle area.

Only then did it suddenly hit Dirk.

When she fled Norman Ross's office in such a rush, she hadn't taken her underwear with her.

That pair of panties was still in the pocket of his jacket.

But the jacket had been washed, and the panties were soaked too.

"Still looking? Close your eyes!"

Sheryl glared at him and snapped.

Dirk hurriedly shut his eyes.

But in his mind, he couldn't help picturing her long legs and flat belly.

He had to admit, Sheryl's figure was pretty damn good.

"I'm going back to my room. You're not allowed to open your eyes."

Sheryl shouted.

When he heard the click of her door closing.

Dirk finally let out a breath.

He picked out a few books of the right thickness, and was just about to head back to his own room when he heard faint, muffled sobbing coming from the crack of Sheryl's bedroom door.

Dirk frowned slightly.

He thought he might have misheard.

He pressed his ear against the door, and sure enough, the crying was coming from Sheryl.

He couldn't help feeling a bit worried.

He raised his hand and knocked on the door, saying, "Miss Sheryl, I really didn't mean it just now. I didn't know you were…"

The crying stopped abruptly.

Sheryl called out, "I'm fine. You should get some rest."

Dirk nodded and said, "Okay, then I'll go rest."

He had just turned to leave.

When the crying started up again.

Dirk steeled himself.

He said, "Miss Sheryl, I'm coming in…"

After saying that.

He didn't care whether she agreed or not.

Dirk pushed the door open.

A wave of cold air hit him in the face.

Even though it was already spring, the temperature at night was still only around ten degrees, which was pretty cold.

Hearing the sound of Dirk opening the door.

Sheryl hastily curled up.

She hugged her knees to cover her private parts.

Dirk looked up.

He saw that her room actually didn't have an air conditioner.
