Dirk Carter said, "Within the system, this kind of crude joke is normal. Next time I'll teach them a lesson so they won't dare joke about you again."
"I'm not angry."
Gwendolyn Lewis stopped in her tracks.
She smiled, looked at Dirk Carter, and said, "I'm actually quite happy."
"Why?"
"Because at least I'm still charming."
Gwendolyn Lewis said.
Dirk Carter laughed and said, "Of course, you're a great beauty, naturally you're charming."
"Then why have you not contacted me for so long? I heard when you got married, you invited a beauty group, yet I wasn't part of it?"
As soon as this question was asked.
Dirk Carter was momentarily at a loss for how to respond.
Seeing the awkwardness on his face.
Gwendolyn Lewis chuckled.
And said, "Alright, I won't tease you anymore, how about you buy me dinner?"
"Sure, I'll treat you. What would you like to eat?"
"Anything you buy is fine."
Gwendolyn Lewis said.
Dirk Carter thought for a moment and said, "When I was the County Committee Secretary in Helios County, I often went to a local restaurant to eat. Their roasted goose is exceptional, how about it?"
"Alright!"
Gwendolyn Lewis said.
The two of them hailed a taxi.
Soon, they disappeared into the night.
About twenty minutes later.
The taxi stopped in front of a place called "Haha Local Restaurant" located in Northvale District.
The entire restaurant had a manor design, looking quite upscale.
Because business was good.
The parking lot was filled with quite a few cars.
Luckily, there was a small private room left in the restaurant.
Half an hour later.
The dishes Dirk Carter ordered were all served.
They both started eating heartily.
Gwendolyn Lewis praised the food here greatly, allowing Dirk Carter's heart to settle slightly.
The one-hour meal was about to conclude.
Dirk Carter asked the waiter to bring a pot of tea, intending to chat a while longer.
Gwendolyn Lewis stood up and said, "I'm going to the restroom."
"Alright, go ahead, I'll wait for you."
After saying that.
Gwendolyn Lewis pushed the door open and left.
And with that wait.
Dirk Carter ended up waiting for about ten minutes.
Wondering why she hadn't returned yet.
He heard faint sounds of arguing coming from outside.
He opened the door of the private room to look, and the scene before him made Dirk Carter tense up.
In the lobby, Gwendolyn Lewis was surrounded by several drunken men, one of whom was shirtless and tattooed, reaching out to touch Gwendolyn Lewis's behind.
She dodged him.
"You guys better leave, if you don't, I'm calling the police."
Gwendolyn Lewis, quite angry herself, pointed at the three drunks and shouted.
The shirtless drunk didn't fear these words; instead, he got even more excited.
"The beauty has quite a fierce personality, fierce is good, fierce is good, I love taming fierce women."
"Pervert!"
Gwendolyn Lewis cursed.
Just about to turn and leave.
The shirtless guy suddenly staggered, blocking her way.
He spread his arms.
And said with a grin, "Sister, don't be afraid, older brother is a good person, a really good person, I'm not harboring any ill intent, just inviting you to have a few drinks with us, show some respect."
"You don't deserve any respect; you've drunk so much that you can't even tell east from west."
"Older brother doesn't need to tell east from west, as long as he can find the winding path to your pinnacle, it's enough."
With this remark.
The other two drunks laughed loudly along with him.
And joked, "Buzzcut Brother, that winding path sure is damp and slick, you better take it easy."
The shirtless drunk laughed while deliberately thrusting his hips, striking a pose like drawing a bow, and said, "Dampness is good, dampness is the best; thrust in deeper, and it feels even better."
"Get out of the way!"
Unable to listen to such filthy words anymore.
Gwendolyn Lewis pointed at the so-called Buzzcut Brother and said sternly.
"Sister, don't be so fierce, it's a blessing that older brother likes you, come, let older brother feel you."
After speaking.
Buzzcut Brother once again reached out towards Gwendolyn Lewis.
Seeing he was about to touch her face.
Not a moment too soon.
A hand suddenly appeared out of nowhere, grasping Buzzcut Brother's wrist.
Buzzcut Brother's hand couldn't move at all.
"Buddy, if you've had too much to drink, go back and sleep, don't keep showboating here, you'll regret it when you sober up!"
The one who acted wasn't Dirk Carter.
But a young guy.
The guy looked quite ordinary.
His skin was dusky.
He wasn't very tall either.
But he seemed quite capable.
Dirk Carter originally intended to step in.
Seeing someone stepping up to help, he stood aside to enjoy the show.
"Who are you?"
Buzzcut Brother scrutinized the young guy and asked.
"Who I am doesn't matter; since the lady doesn't want anything to do with you, you should respect her wishes."
The young guy said with a faint smile.
"Damn it, playing hero here, want to die?"
Buzzcut Brother immediately got angry.
He tried withdrawing his hand.
Even though the young guy didn't seem particularly strong.
Buzzcut Brother's hand was held, unable to move an inch.
With another hand free.
Buzzcut Brother instantly formed a fist and swung it at the young guy's face.
The young guy reacted quickly.
He ducked his head and dodged.
Missing the blow, due to inertia, Buzzcut Brother lost control of himself.
The young guy let go at just the right moment.
Buzzcut Brother twirled half a round, clang, falling to the ground.
This embarrassing scene caused those watching the commotion nearby to laugh out loud.
Faced with such a small guy.
The other two initially didn't act, thinking Buzzcut Brother could handle him.
Unexpectedly, Buzzcut Brother fell to the ground.
One of them immediately grabbed a chair next to him, swinging it at the young guy.
All three were originally drunk.
Movements weren't agile.
The young guy sidestepped quickly.
The chair fell from above, smashing onto the table beside, scattering bowls and chopsticks everywhere.
At this time.
The last person was holding a beer bottle, planning to attack from behind.
The young guy's attention was entirely on the person in front, not noticing at all.
Seeing he was about to be in trouble.
Suddenly, an empty bottle flew out from the crowd.
It landed squarely, hitting the sneak attacker's forehead.
With a thud.
The guy stumbled several steps backward, landing on the ground with a thump.
"Who, which bastard, get out here!"
He held up the beer bottle and shouted at the crowd.
Dirk Carter felt no need to hide anymore.
He sauntered over, pulling Gwendolyn Lewis behind him, and asked, "Are you alright?"
Gwendolyn Lewis sneered and said, "I'm fine, thanks to this brother for his help."
