Kalina took a slow breath.
After a brief moment of hesitation, she raised her hand toward her storage ring. Two streams of purple light flew out and stopped in front of her.
They slowly floated in the air between her and the cloaked King. They were not ordinary jade slips.
Instead, they were two deep-purple jade scrolls. Ancient runes flowed across their surfaces like tiny rivers of light. Every few breaths, the runes pulsed gently, giving off faint spiritual fluctuations that were far more stable than ordinary inheritance records.
Kalina looked at Aksai respectfully before speaking.
"Great Elder King Kainaat."
"These are two Third Order Complete Tantras that this junior obtained personally while exploring an ancient ruin."
She lightly gestured toward the first scroll.
"Not only do they contain their own Connate Spells, but they also preserve the True Meanings left behind by their creators."
She then pointed toward the second scroll.
"In addition, both Tantras contain the cultivation insights and experiences of several cultivators who successfully practiced them."
Kalina paused briefly before continuing.
"These are the most complete Third Order inheritances this junior possesses that are unrelated to any imperial faction. Their quality already borders on that of a True Inheritance."
She sighed softly.
"The only regret is that I have never been able to locate their respective Fourth Order Chapters. So although they are extremely valuable to Lords like me, they are naturally incomplete in the eyes of Your Majesty."
Kalina hurriedly added another sentence.
"Please rest assured, Great Elder King. My faction has already investigated their origins thoroughly. They do not belong to any existing imperial faction, nor do they violate any agreements.
"I have never handed them over to my faction either. At least not until now. As such, I may freely present them to Your Majesty without bringing trouble upon my own people."
She lowered her head respectfully. She had planned to exchange these scrolls with her faction when she reached the peak of the late stage.
If these Complete Tantras had remained exclusive till the end, it would have fetched her a far greater price. But after sharing it with the cloaked King, she knew that the Tantras’ value would be depreciated.
But this was a compromise she was willing to make to get out of her current predicament. Plus, she hoped that the cloaked King would offer her a worthy compensation after looking at their quality and knowing about their background a bit.
As such, Kalina decided to do the exchange with a smile on her face, despite a mild reluctance surging in her heart.
"Please accept these two Complete Tantras as compensation for tonight’s misunderstanding."
With a gentle wave of her sleeve, both purple jade scrolls floated toward Aksai.
Their speed was neither fast nor slow.
It was a respectful offering rather than a transfer between equals.
Aksai calmly reached out and caught both scrolls with one hand.
His movements were smooth and effortless, as if receiving treasures of this level was something he experienced every day.
Outwardly, nothing changed beneath the hood.
Inwardly...
He was completely puzzled.
’Complete Tantras?’
’Connate Spells?’
’True Meanings?’
One question after another appeared in his mind.
He had studied countless cultivation techniques through Nuri’s enormous database. He had also collected many inheritances from the Heavenly Poison Sect. He had also gone through a few techniques that were there in the Holy Land Torel.
Yet he had never once encountered these terms.
Nor had he ever seen cultivation techniques recorded inside such strange purple jade scrolls.
Even the material used to make these scrolls was unlike anything produced on the Dadangar Subcontinent.
’These are not ordinary inheritances. They’re from the Shinayin Empire... or perhaps somewhere even farther.’
Aksai remained expressionless.
Although countless questions were racing through his mind, he knew better than to ask any of them.
Doing so would immediately expose his ignorance.
And once that happened...
His identity as a fake King would likely collapse on the spot.
So, without even glancing at the scrolls again, Aksai casually stored both purple jade scrolls inside his storage ring.
His actions were calm. As though Complete Tantras were nothing more than ordinary gifts presented by juniors seeking forgiveness.
Only after putting them away did he slowly nod. A faint chuckle escaped from beneath his hood.
"Not bad. They can barely catch this old man’s eye."
He spoke as though he were evaluating common trinkets rather than priceless inheritances.
"I shall reluctantly accept them."
Kalina secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Thankfully...
The eccentric King seemed satisfied, at least for the moment.
Kalina had just begun to relax. She believed the matter had finally come to an end.
Then the cloaked King spoke again.
"Lass."
Kalina immediately straightened.
"Yes, Great Elder King?"
Aksai folded his hands behind his back.
"Do you happen to have any other Third Order cultivation resources with you?"
The question caught Kalina completely off guard. She blinked. Then her expression gradually became complicated.
This exchange was beginning to feel strange. The King had already accepted two Complete Tantras. Now he wanted more Third Order resources?
Shouldn’t a Nascent Soul King have little interest in such things? A tiny seed of doubt quietly sprouted inside her heart.
’Could I have misunderstood something?’
’Why would a King repeatedly ask a Lord for Third Order resources?’
She carefully looked at the cloaked figure.
Although she still could not sense anything unusual from the terrifying pressure surrounding him, the question itself felt somewhat... shameless.
Fortunately for Aksai, he had already expected such a reaction. Before Kalina could think too deeply, he calmly explained.
"Do not misunderstand. These resources are naturally not for me."
He lightly waved his sleeve.
"I have recently developed an interest in this subcontinent. I intend to accept a few native disciples and observe how far they can grow without relying on the empire’s resources."
"This is merely an experiment."
He paused briefly before adding.
"I have no intention of wasting my own faction’s inheritance on a simple experiment. So I thought I would gather a few ordinary Third Order resources from outside sources."
He chuckled softly.
"Rest assured. I will compensate you with Spirit Stones of equivalent value."
This explanation was something Aksai had come up with using Nuri’s help after she analyzed Kalina’s reactions and responses. As a Neural Link Fabric with a preloaded database on psychology from Aksai’s previous world, Nuri had deduced the line of reasoning Kalina was most likely to accept before having Aksai say it out loud.
Aksai had never used this feature of Nuri before because she had not been capable of detecting and analyzing emotions in the past. It was only after her evolution that she became able to apply the principles of psychology.
Kalina quietly listened.
The doubt in her heart did not disappear completely. However, the explanation did make sense. Every imperial faction guarded its inheritances with extreme care. Their cultivation arts, Spirit Spells, and secret resources were never shared with outsiders.
If King Kainaat truly wished to nurture local cultivators without using the Black Yin Flower Trading Company’s own resources, then obtaining ordinary Third Order resources from elsewhere was indeed reasonable.
After thinking for several moments, Kalina slowly nodded.
"Great Elder King, I am naturally willing to offer what I have."
She smiled bitterly.
"However... I truly do not know what would suit your needs."
"The two Complete Tantras I presented earlier are already the most valuable Third Order resources in my possession."
Aksai nodded slightly.
"I understand."
He pretended to think for a moment before speaking again.
"Then let us do this. You may take out every Third Order resource inside your storage ring. I shall choose whatever catches my interest."
"As long as you are willing to part with the items I select, I will pay you Spirit Stones of equivalent value."
Kalina lowered her head thoughtfully.
She carefully considered the proposal. There was nothing unreasonable about it. After offering the purple jade scrolls, she really had nothing else on her that could catch a Nascent Soul King’s interest.
After a short silence, she finally nodded. It was better to convert all her resources into wealth at this point.
"As Great Elder King wishes."
With another wave of her hand, her storage ring flickered continuously.
One item after another appeared in the air.
Spirit herbs sealed inside jade boxes, precious ores wrapped in formation cloth, a few jade slips encrypted with runes that clearly belonged to Kalina’s faction, and various rare beast materials.
There were also several bottles of pills and stacks of talismans that could be used by a mid-stage Lord.
Only Aksai’s heart quietly skipped a beat beneath his cloak.
’Jackpot.’
Just then, the pill’s effects started wearing off at an exponential rate, causing the aura of a true Fourth Order Nascent Soul King surrounding Aksai to fluctuate violently. It was like a flame caught in a fierce wind, rapidly dimming before finally being extinguished completely.
Before Kalina and her subordinates could even process what was happening to Aksai, he had already taken action.
