Chapter 1340: WorryChapter 1340: Chapter 1340: Worry
When the plane landed in the United States, it was early morning. The airport personnel had already arranged for Mu Chen to be sent to the hospital and admitted without delay.
After a full day on the plane, Mu Chen was utterly exhausted and fell asleep shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Mu Yan originally wanted to stay to accompany Mu Chen, but was refused by Luo Yao.
"Sis, there’s still time for us to keep vigil later. Don’t fight with me for it. You go back to the hotel and rest today, and we can switch next time."
Mu Yan thought about it and found Luo Yao’s suggestion reasonable. Since Mu Chen’s surgery would take more than a day, everyone should indeed take turns taking care of him.
So, Mu Yan went with Jiang Jingheng and the others to the pre-booked hotel.
She wasn’t sure if it was because she had slept too much during the day, but when she got to the hotel, she couldn’t fall asleep.
Tossing and turning, Jiang Jingheng naturally couldn’t sleep either. He simply turned on the bedside lamp and asked, "Are you uncomfortable?"
Mu Yan turned her head and saw him looking at her with concern, feeling somewhat guilty. "Sorry for disturbing your sleep."
"Silly, why are you apologizing to me?" Jiang Jingheng playfully touched her nose.
Mu Yan snuggled into his embrace and whispered, "I don’t know why, but since we arrived in the United States, I feel uneasy. Chenchen will really be okay, right?"
Jiang Jingheng looked ahead, a subtle glimmer in his eyes.
"Yes, everything will be okay," he said softly.
Mu Yan slept in his arms for a while and then said, "But I still can’t fall asleep."
"Shall we keep talking, then?" Jiang Jingheng asked.
"Aren’t you going to sleep?" Mu Yan looked at him with puppy eyes.
Jiang Jingheng kissed her on the lips, "Then how about we do something else? To help you sleep."
Mu Yan blushed slightly and glared at him, "No, I’m really tired."
Jiang Jingheng was only teasing her. Ever since the last time when they didn’t take precautions, he was too wary to touch her, afraid she’d be upset, and then he’d have no way to handle it.
"Let’s chat. Tell me about your childhood," Mu Yan suggested.
Jiang Jingheng snapped back to reality and looked at her, "Why not talk about your childhood instead?"
"That works too," Mu Yan replied nonchalantly, "I was a well-behaved and sensible child. My classmates and teachers loved me, and I always ranked first in my class during exams. I started first grade at five and skipped directly to the third grade without attending second grade."
She continued, "Everyone says I got my smarts from my mom. She skipped grades twice when she was young, first from first to third grade, and then from fourth to sixth grade."
"Hmm," Jiang Jingheng nodded lightly, "I wasn’t as smart as you when I was a kid."
Mu Yan snorted softly, "Don’t think I don’t know which university you graduated from."
Jiang Jingheng chuckled, "I had to work hard to match up to Mrs. Jiang."
Mu Yan knew he was joking, but she felt happy anyway.
Suddenly, she recalled what Liu Shiyuan said and asked, "Did you like playing video games when you were in school? It seems like all boys like that."
Jiang Jingheng’s eyes dimmed briefly, "I didn’t like them."
"I knew Mr. Jiang was a good student back then."
Jiang Jingheng didn’t reply. He didn’t like playing video games; he liked getting into fights, but he couldn’t tell her that.
As they chatted, Mu Yan finally felt sleepy and gradually fell asleep.
But in the latter half of the night, her stomach suddenly started to hurt, waking her up, and she realized her period had started.
