A Person with Morals gets Transported to Another World [LitRPG] [Satire]
Chapter 84 – Explosion! As a trio we walked through the crowded school grounds. We were given moments to breathe at areas where no stalls or activities had been set up. While moving we scanned the numerous events that were going on. We were spoiled for choice with what variety was given, however most of the contests involved physical strength or skill.
The booklet was quick to note that magic was allowed, so long as it wasn’t directed to hurt or disrupt one’s opponents. People with Soul and Body were at ease, but where were the contests that allowed a connoisseur of Mind to shine?
The three of us stopped to watch a game of volleyball being played. We were on the second floor, so we had a nice view of the court below. Two teams of six faced off against each other. Every person participating was level 30.
I was only level 20, and I had nothing that gave me an advantage in sports, so I was actually quite pessimistic about our odds at winning even a single event, but there was no harm in trying. Unlike my other expeditions, there was no risk to my life by participating in these contests.
A tough-looking girl with bulging muscles and prominent abs came up to serve for her team. She threw the ball into the air in front of her and then ran to smack it mid-flight. Upon her palm making contact with the ball, flames burst out. The volleyball became a red ball of fire that hurtled towards the opposing team.
The receiver on the other side of the court was a blue girl that was composed of a translucent gel. When the ball hit the platform the girl had made with her arms, she exploded. Blue gel splattered all over the court as the ball had eviscerated the girl. The audience, as well as I, gasped.
“Aiming for the half-slime girl was just cruel,” said Newmill, who didn’t seem too affected by the death he had just witnessed.
Penrin leaned her arms over the second-floor railing and said, “It’s just good strategy. Because she’s made of slime, she can’t bounce the ball away. Her team probably roped her into playing this game, despite it being impossible for her to accomplish anything.”
Watching the field, I saw that the remains of the slime girl were moving. The globules of slime started jiggling and squirming and wobbling back together. As more slime returned to the original mass of the girl, her body slowly turned back to normal. When she was fully recovered the match resumed. “I guess I should’ve expected a slime person wouldn’t die from that,” I said. Though, if I were on the receiving end of a serve like that, I would have surely died.
I was too quick to assume that my life would not be at risk here.
Newmill asked, “Do you have any idea which sport we should participate in?” He was worriedly looking at the booklet we were given, and he was rightfully unsure as to what our team was fit for.
I said, “There are few things that we’re well-suited to succeed at. Penrin is the only one among us who is actually level 30. The two of us are pretty much deadweight.”
Penrin punched her fists together, “Don’t worry. I’ll perform well enough to carry both of you. Just leave it all to me.”
It was nice to see Penrin so excited, but her words did not assure me. With only one loss permitted, there was little room for error. I had to be sure that every contest we did had a good chance of victory. “I think we should try baseball,” I said.
“Why’s that?” Penrin and Newmill asked simultaneously.
“Because in a large team, we can rely on others to carry our sorry butts to victory.”
Penrin grabbed my collar and angled me over the edge of the railing. She wasn’t impressed with my suggestion at all.
“Wait, wait!” I said. “Don’t throw me off. I was only kidding.” The girl pulled me back to safety and allowed me to explain. “My only weapon is my high Mind. I can’t play games like volleyball because my poor reflexes and athletic incapability would guarantee a loss. However, in baseball there’s a lot of room for strategy that I can employ, and since there are more players, my weakness won’t be as much of a detriment.”
Penrin said, “I don’t like it. If we get unlucky with teammates, it could be a loss from the start. I can’t win a game like that by myself.”
Newmill said, “I think we should do it.”
Penrin was surprised by Newmill’s enthusiasm for the game. “Do you have a plan too?” she asked.
Newmill shook his head. “That’s not it,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to play baseball, but no one ever wanted to play with me. This might be my only chance to do it.” In his admission, he was not shy at all. As if it was no source of embarrassment that he was ostracised by others.
Penrin and I looked at him sympathetically. “Fine,” Penrin said. “We’ll do baseball.”
Newmill rejoiced and the three of us headed towards the field. By sheer number of spectators, it might have been the most popular contest of Sports Day. Most spectators were helping themselves to the food being sold in the stands. In the middle of the field, the participants were still looking for an extra team of three to join.
We walked over to fill that gap.
When passing by some standing members of the audience, I noticed Erith the half-demon. She was the centre of attention. She was surrounded by a circle of viewers who all stared at her humongous chest.
She fondled her jiggling and sloshing bust. “All you humans are such pervs,” she said seductively. She was greatly pleased with the attention she received. “Do you really like looking at my fabulous breasts that much?”
The people who surrounded her were silent. The half-demon was wearing normal trousers, but her torso had only a micro-bikini top covering it. In typical circumstances, the sight might have been considered erotic. However, in this case, Erith had two massive water balloons held in place by the micro-bikini.
Everyone was looking in confusion at the crazy lady who seemed to think her fake boobs were convincing in any way. She did not even pick purple-coloured balloons to match her skin. They were bright red.
Each time she flaunted her water balloon breasts, the surrounding people would take a step back. At current, there was an empty 7 metre circle around her. By the end of the game, I believed she could have evacuated the entirety of the audience.
I whispered to Penrin who also noticed the woman, “Isn’t she supposed to be some hotshot for the Demon Kingdom? Why does no one recognise her?”
Penrin shrugged. “There’s no difference between half-humans and half-monsters, so she’s not exactly out of place. And I think people are more concerned with avoiding whatever mental illness she seems to have.”
