Noren's ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍house was great in every way, except for its location being too remote.

So ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍remote that no ride-hailing driver would accept a pickup.

As ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍a result, Evelia usually flew back and forth every time, but that wasn't really an option this time.

Her ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍waist hurt...

But ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍to be honest, it wasn't that no ride-hailing drivers had ever been willing to come here to pick up passengers. Something had happened later that made basically every driver in Wangyou City too scared to come out here.

And that incident had quite a lot to do with Evelia.

It was about half a year ago. By then, Evelia had already become good friends with Noren and the others, and would often come over to hang out when she had free time.

But having to fly such a long distance every time was genuinely exhausting for a demon with poor stamina like Evelia. So looking at the fairly substantial balance in her phone, she figured she could try calling a ride-hailing car.

At first, it went smoothly enough. After all, Wangyou City was a major metropolis, and the number of ride-hailing drivers and how fiercely they competed was completely incomparable to smaller cities. So a big order from such a remote location like Evelia's was naturally snatched up in no time.

The driver who came was a man in his thirties or so. When he saw Evelia standing alone on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere (due to the barrier magic, ordinary people couldn't see Noren's mansion), he immediately started trembling, with beads of sweat rolling down his forehead.

As luck would have it, around that time, a middle school girl had been lured to the suburbs by her classmates and bullied to death. Just two days earlier, Evelia had executed justice on those perpetrators who had escaped legal punishment due to being underage. Three people in total: two were severely beaten and sent to the ICU, and the third was scared into a psychiatric hospital by Evelia's Sheep-headed Demon phantom.

The one scared into the psychiatric hospital was still muttering something about "a demon crawling out of hell" when he was admitted.

For a while, the whole city was spreading rumors that the murdered middle school girl had turned into a demon and crawled out of hell to punish the classmates who had killed her.

And coincidentally, our Miss Evelia looked the part of a girl who had just started middle school.

The rest, as they say, is history.

During the ride home, the middle-aged driver was trembling as he held a cigarette in his mouth, trying to make some small talk with Evelia. But when he turned his head, he just happened to see Evelia enjoying a small cake Noren had given her.

That alone wouldn't have been a big deal. The key point was that it was a cake from Noren! One that matched her tastes, a cake mixed with blood! The kind that would gush blood the moment you poked it with a little fork!

And so, our poor driver, the moment he turned his head, saw this middle school girl who had mysteriously appeared in the middle of nowhere, holding a small cake that was gushing blood, and eating it one bite at a time.

And as if sensing his gaze, this eerie girl lifted her head and flashed him a terrifying, indescribable smile (in reality, she hadn't expected blood in the cake, and her face had twisted in shock the moment she took a bite).

This directly scared our driver into a living rendition of the famous painting "The Scream."

He didn't even want the car anymore. Right in the middle of the road, he suddenly flung open the door and jumped out. This abrupt behavior even startled our demon princess.

After frantically figuring out how to stop the car that was still speeding down the road, Evelia then had to rush the ride-hailing driver, who had been severely injured from jumping out and tumbling down the hillside, to the hospital. Her mood couldn't have been more gloomy.

And in the end, she still had to walk home...

After this big news story about a "ride-hailing driver picking up a ghost at midnight and ending up severely injured after tumbling down a hillside" spread, not a single ride-hailing driver in all of Wangyou City dared to come out to the suburbs anymore.

Whether day or night.

This incident also put an end to Evelia's thoughts of ever using ride-hailing services again.

After all, this time the driver was only severely injured. She had managed to perform emergency first aid with healing magic and rush him to the hospital in time, so he survived. But what if next time someone died on the spot? Then Evelia really wouldn't know whether to cry or laugh.

Therefore, even though traveling across half the city to visit Noren was exhausting, Evelia only dared to walk slowly by herself. After all, if she caused someone's death over something like this, that would be truly laughable.

But this time was different.

Because Amya had been so aggressive last night, Evelia still felt sore and numb in her waist and legs. She was basically limping with every step and could only manage to make her way down the mountain with Amya's support.

This walk took over an hour!

That's right, Evelia walked for a full hour before barely making it to the city!

The moment she entered the city, Evelia couldn't take it anymore. After exhaustedly calling a taxi and telling the driver to head to the cathedral, she leaned against Amya and fell asleep.

Her body was already frail to begin with, she had gone through such an ordeal last night, and then walked for an entire hour on the bumpy dirt roads of the suburbs. It would have been stranger if she hadn't collapsed from exhaustion!

Fortunately, Wangyou City was large enough. Driving from the northwestern edge of the city to the Wangyou Grand Cathedral in the East District took quite a bit of time, which was enough for Evelia to get some rest.

And perhaps because she considered that Evelia was truly too tired and needed rest, Amya also very rarely kept her hands to herself this time. At most, she sneakily took a "sleeping face plus victory sign" photo while Evelia was asleep. For the remaining time, she quietly let Evelia sleep on her lap, gazing at her with a tender expression.

Watching the constantly changing scenery outside the window, Amya felt a bit emotional. Something as major as two super-tier spells colliding had happened just last night, yet by morning, the entire city was operating normally as if nothing had occurred.

This would be basically impossible for other races, but humans had achieved it. The Watchers and the Church, no matter how much they didn't get along, displayed an astonishing tacit understanding when it came to matters of such great importance.

But even so, there were still some things that large organizations like the Watchers and the Church couldn't accomplish.

Just like this current situation and the matter with that black-robed man before.

At this thought, Amya reached out and gently brushed a few strands of hair scattered across Evelia's cheek, her gaze growing even more tender.

At times like these, someone like her Eve-Eve was needed to step in~

"Tsk, thinking about it that way, what I did last night really was a bit excessive... After all, it was such a rare opportunity for Eve-Eve to get some proper rest..."

"Mm, I know I was wrong. I'll do it again next time."
