Chapter 2148: Chapter 529: The Wise Retreat

Yun Ya looked at the handsome face so close at hand, silhouetted against the backlight like a Heavenly God descending, and she felt a bit dazed.

Yan Song gripped her waist with both hands, his eyes coldly fixed on the nanny lying on the ground, a flash of murderous intent flickering briefly in his gaze.

As he lowered his head, the tenderness in his eyes unfolded like layers of apricot-colored spring waters, as if a single glance could drown a person within.

"Are you hurt?" he asked, examining Yun Ya from top to bottom.

Yun Ya stood up straight, smiling and shaking her head, "No."

Yan Song remained skeptical, giving a cold glance to the woman clutching her chest and crying out in pain on the ground. If he had been a moment later, this woman’s filthy hands would have landed on Yun Ya’s face. He couldn’t bear even a strand of Yun Ya’s hair to be disturbed; this woman was courting death.

The nanny, frightened by such a murderous glare, trembled and said, "What... What are you doing? You dare to assault me, I’ll call the police and have them arrest you."

Bai Ran laughed with a "pfft," realizing she had never noticed how foolish this woman could be. She took out her phone and dialed 110, "Hello, is this 110? There’s someone here intentionally causing harm..."

The nanny immediately looked at Bai Ran excitedly, "Madam, thank you. This person is simply too awful, being so violent that the police should handle him..."

Bai Ran crossed her arms, her smile carrying a hint of mockery: "I think you’re mistaken. The person I’m calling the police to arrest is you."

The nanny’s face instantly changed, and she screamed, "Madam, the one who’s hurt is me, so why are you helping an outsider instead of me? I’ve always been serving you diligently..."

"You fed Feifei sedatives and still speak so shamelessly, your cheek is truly astonishing. I gave you a chance, but you chose to be shameless, so I can’t give you any grace."

Seeing no chance for reconciliation, and realizing Bai Ran’s firm stance with this woman, especially now with a seemingly more formidable man present, the nanny knew leaving was the best option.

She gave Yun Ya and the man a venomous glare and scrambled to escape.

Hidden, Qinglan snorted coldly, daring to lay a hand on the lady was truly courting death.

With a flick of her finger, the nanny, hastily running, suddenly slipped and fell miserably, hitting her head hard on the corner of the wall, bleeding extensively—a truly painful scene to behold.

Bai Ran instinctively furrowed her brows; this was just too unlucky.

Bai Ran looked at Yan Song’s stern face, pursed her lips, and approached, saying, "Young Master Yan... I’m sorry, it was my fault... I almost let Yun Ya get harmed..."

The man said nothing, but just standing there quietly, exuded a suffocating pressure, making one’s heart race faster...

Yan Song said nothing, wrapped Yun Ya in his arms, and turned to leave in large strides, leaving Bai Ran with only a tall yet extremely cold back view.

"What are you doing? Put me down." Yun Ya exclaimed, and Yan Song tightened his hold on her, leaving without a word.

Leaving Bai Ran in disarray against the wind, she thought of her daughter and quickly hurried towards the hospital room.

Yan Song carried Yun Ya to the car, carefully buckled her seatbelt, and then walked around to sit in the driver’s seat and start the car.

Qinglan appeared silently in the back seat, trying to minimize her presence; her Turtle Breathing Technique allowed her to hide her breathing, making her presence almost nonexistent.

The car left the parking lot and drove onto the wide road, and Yun Ya, looking at the scenery outside the window, felt a bit sleepy.

"Sister Zijin had difficulty giving birth, so I went to help. Both mother and son are safe. Even though I’ve gotten used to it over the years, saving two lives truly makes me happier," Yun Ya said softly.

Hearing no response for a long time, Yun Ya turned her head to find the man’s handsome face enshrouded in coldness, his eyebrows slightly knitted, lips tightly pressed together, looking unhappy.

Yun Ya pitifully tugged on his sleeve, "Brother Yan, I’m sorry, okay?"

"What were you wrong about?" Yan Song’s voice was cold, without a trace of warmth.

"I shouldn’t have undergone surgery without consulting you. I promised you I’d stop taking operations and take better care of my health, but Sister Zijin is different..."

Yun Ya’s voice was soft and delicate, melting the heart of anyone who heard it.

Yan Song’s cold face cracked a bit, as his right hand firmly grasped Yun Ya’s hand on the steering wheel, speaking with both helplessness and concern, "I’m not blaming you, I’m just worried about your health, please don’t do it again."

Yun Ya nodded obediently, snuggling against Yan Song’s shoulder with her arms around his, until the car stopped at a red light. During the pause, Yan Song suddenly leaned down to kiss her lips deeply, almost making Yun Ya forget to breathe. Not until a car honked from behind did Yan Song reluctantly release her and drive through the intersection.

A traffic officer initially intended to stop the car for a check, suspecting drunk driving, but seeing the license plate, he immediately abandoned the thought.

This was an esteemed vehicle; unless he was courting death, he wouldn’t dare to check a leader’s car.
