Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Shooting Trap

Seraphina Sterling had darted into the woods a long time ago, yet the forest remained utterly silent. No sound broke the stillness. The spectators no longer dared to hope for a decisive victory for the Perverted Doctor; they were just praying he wouldn’t be taken out in a single shot. If the instructors lost two matches in a row, they would be too ashamed to ever show their faces at the base again.

The Perverted Doctor had found an excellent tactical position. To advance deeper into the woods, Seraphina Sterling would have to pass this way. He’d take her out with a single shot and end the fight right then and there. But he waited for nearly two hours, and still, no one came by. He was growing impatient.

Another hour passed, and there was still no movement on the path. The Perverted Doctor couldn’t help but wonder, ’Did I overestimate her? She’s smart, sure, but maybe her understanding of sniper tactics isn’t that deep? So she has no idea that this is the only path to the best sniping position?’

If the Perverted Doctor had heard the conversation between Hughes and the other three men, he definitely wouldn’t be thinking this way!

The woods were uncannily quiet.

Suddenly, a RUSTLE RUSTLE RUSTLE echoed out. The Perverted Doctor’s eyes flicked toward the sound as a rabbit darted out from the trees. Just as he was about to pull his gaze back, he suddenly spotted Seraphina Sterling in the distance, hidden under a thick canopy of leaves.

’I have to admit, her concealment skills are superb,’ he thought. ’She didn’t move a muscle, even with that disturbance nearby. If it hadn’t been for that wild rabbit, even I would never have spotted her! She can only blame her bad luck; it seems even fate isn’t on her side!’

The Perverted Doctor took aim and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

With a loud BANG, the shot startled the birds hidden in the trees. A large flock took flight with a great WHOOSH, scattering in all directions and obstructing the Perverted Doctor’s line of sight.

But he was a battle-hardened veteran. The Perverted Doctor, who moments ago had been reveling in his apparent success, instantly sensed something was wrong. That wasn’t Seraphina Sterling! He immediately began to roll, but it was too late. Before he could fully react, he was hit!

For a sniper, giving away your position is the same as putting yourself in the enemy’s crosshairs. Seraphina Sterling would never let an opportunity like this slip by!

The battle ended so quickly that the Perverted Doctor could hardly believe it. He, an ace sniper, had actually lost! He’d lost to a young girl! ’How could this be?’

The battle over, Seraphina Sterling—clad in a set of thermals—pulled her clothes out from under a pile of fallen leaves and put them back on. Then, shouldering two sniper rifles, she started walking out of the woods.

The Perverted Doctor finally snapped out of his daze and scrambled after her. "You actually assembled two identical rifles?"

Seraphina Sterling didn’t say a word.

"You deliberately set a trap with your clothes and a rifle, and then there was that rabbit that ran by... was it all just to lure me into firing and revealing my own sniping position?"

’Isn’t it obvious! And he’s still asking!’ Seraphina Sterling shot him a disdainful look. ’Could he really not figure that out?’

He was being openly disdained! The Perverted Doctor finally realized just how stupid his question had been. He hurried to catch up with Seraphina Sterling.

"Of course I know you designed all that on purpose. What I want to ask is, how did you know I would choose a sniping position nearby? How were you so sure that if you set a trap in that spot, I would fall for it! What if I hadn’t been in the area? Wouldn’t your whole plan have been for nothing?"

Seraphina Sterling stopped. "You’re an experienced sniper. That spot is the best sniping point in these woods. If I were you, I would have absolutely chosen that spot for my sniper’s nest."

This time, the Perverted Doctor was utterly convinced. It was the universal choice for any sniper!

"So you had already decided on this battle plan when you were picking out parts to assemble your rifle? You deliberately chose a sniper rifle in front of me to mislead me, to make me choose a sniper rifle too! Then, after I left, you assembled a second one! You had everything planned from the very beginning!"

As he reached the end of his sentence, the Perverted Doctor couldn’t help but raise his voice. A shudder ran through him. He’d always thought of himself as a smart guy, but in front of this young girl, he was nothing! *That* was true intelligence! ’Her mind is terrifyingly deep!’

"I’m telling you..." the Perverted Doctor started to say, but Seraphina Sterling suddenly clapped a hand over his mouth.

"Someone’s here!"
