Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Mr. Grant Appears (2)
"Pay up? Do you have any idea how much you owe? Twenty million! You’ll pay it all back, but first, we’ll collect some interest!" As he spoke, the man tensed, swung his arm, and brought the blade down.
"AHHH—" A piercing scream, filled with agony.
The pinky finger had been severed! It rolled across the floor, a platinum ring still wrapped around it!
Seraphina Sterling turned deathly pale as she witnessed the scene. She had fired a gun, had killed before, but always in the most perilous situations—at critical, life-or-death moments. And it had always been a clean, single shot to end it.
She had never witnessed a scene so savage. The wretched screams and the metallic tang of blood in the air made her stomach churn violently, bile rising in her throat as if she would vomit at any second.
Even Logan Grant was deathly pale. He had received professional training from the Grant Family since childhood, but he had never seen a scene so gory. What he was witnessing now was beyond anything he could stomach.
"Miss Sterling, this way please!"
A pair of heavy, European-style doors were pulled open. Seraphina Sterling quietly exhaled and stepped inside. The first thing to meet her eyes was an enormous black sofa. A man dressed in silver-white lounged on it, a blood-red diamond in his ear glinting with a dazzling light.
"So you’re Seraphina Sterling? The one who ruined Miles Galloway’s antique shop?" a distinctly androgynous voice drawled, as wild and full of hidden danger as his gaze.
"You must be mistaken, sir. I regret what happened to Mr. Galloway, but it had nothing to do with me." Seraphina Sterling struggled to maintain her composure. ’Looks like I’ve really picked a fight with the wrong person this time.’
The Young Master of the Underground—Ronan Winters.
"Seraphina Sterling! Stop making excuses! Do you really think I, Miles Galloway, can’t see through your little schemes? If I didn’t have concrete proof that you were involved, why would I have dared to trouble the Young Master and kidnap your friend! I’m telling you, that old bastard from the Sloan Family already confessed! He said you were the one who leaked the news about Serenity selling forgeries, and that’s why he launched his attack!"
Miles Galloway suddenly stepped out, glaring at Seraphina Sterling as if he wanted to kill her on the spot. His antique shop, the one he had spent so much time and money preparing, was now all for nothing!
"Mr. Galloway, as you just said, I merely stated a fact. I didn’t frame you, nor did I encourage the Sloan Family to attack Serenity. If you’re going to pin all the blame on me just for speaking a single sentence, isn’t that a bit unfair?"
Facing Miles Galloway, Seraphina Sterling gradually regained her composure. ’There might still be a chance to resolve this peacefully!’
"No more excuses! This is all your fault! You have to take responsibility and compensate us for our losses!" Miles Galloway growled. This wasn’t just about Serenity anymore. It was starting to affect the Galloway Family’s auction house; some clients were already losing their trust. If this situation escalated any further, the auction house itself would be in jeopardy!
"Us?" Seraphina Sterling’s ears perked at his choice of words. ’So that means the Young Master has a stake in Serenity!’ She shifted her gaze to the wild-looking man on the sofa.
"You’ve got some nerve, Miss Sterling. It’s been a long time since anyone dared to play mind games with me. My shop was destroyed. The Sloan Family needs to be punished, and so do you." The man’s lips curved into a thin line, his deep eyes fixed on Seraphina Sterling. He found her calm and composed attitude... interesting.
