A Weapon’s Serenade

Chapter 8 – Girlfriends

It was a lovely Friday afternoon and Melody had left for her daily lab work again, leaving Anne and Kuria alone at home. Anne was cleaning up the kitchen when Kuria wrapped her arms around the human’s waist.

“I know it’s Melody’s turn with you tonight but…” The young demon ran her hand along Anne’s arm until she reached her hand. With a kiss on the neck, Kuria gently let her fingers dissolve into Anne’s.

Anne let out a small gasp and a giggle. “You know that we are not going to get anything done like this, right?”

“I would settle for doing you.”

“Alright, I surrender.” Anne bit her lip as she looked down at her arm, watching Kuria’s skin and flesh weave into hers with excitement. Soft demonic skin pressed through Anne’s clothes and dissolved into her. A grotesque spectacle for anyone not blessed with the knowledge of the intimate beauty of sharing your very existence with your beloved. What took only a few moments felt like hours and left Anne leaning onto the kitchen counter and panting heavily.

When Melody returned, there was only a sign on Anne’s door demanding that she must not be disturbed. The general lack of Kuria anywhere else in the apartment confirmed Melody’s suspicions about what was going on. Thankfully, every room had its own togglable sound damping enchantment.

Instead of withdrawing to her own room, Melody decided to prepare dinner for whenever her two flatmates finished.

While Anne and Kuria took their time, Tiny arrived on time for dinner and was rewarded with delicious treats. After a few more minutes, Anne emerged from her room alone. Well, not Anne but Kuria in control of Anne’s body.

“Melody, apologies for the delay. Anne was falling asleep and I didn’t wish to disturb her.”

“So she’s having a nap now?”

“Yes. But she still needs food and a shower and will provide just that. If you would excuse me, shower first seems like the best idea.”

“No worries, I’ll make sure everything is still warm once you’re done.”

Kuria returned after only a few minutes. Magic certainly helped with getting clean and dry again. She took a seat at the kitchen table just as Melody was plating up for everyone, including something nice for Tiny.

“You are getting very good at this.”

“What, cooking?”

“Yes.”

“I had great teachers. We should leave some leftovers for lunch tomorrow, wouldn’t want Anne to miss out on my cooking.”

“Good idea. Should be no problem with how much you made anyway.”

Anne stretched and yawned. Kuria had left her to rest on the couch while she and Melody were playing some Heroes.

“Oh hey.”

“Did you sleep well?”

Anne sat up. “Yup. Nothing more restful than demonic possession.” She giggled.

“I know, right? That also means you are refreshed for a night of fun, aren’t you?”

“Absolutely. What a day, getting to please both my girls. I could get used to that.”

“Better not, the novelty makes it even better.”

“True.”

“We made sure we have enough leftovers for lunch by the way. Wouldn’t want you to miss out on my stir-fry.”

“Oh, nice, thank you. How late is it?”

“Nine thirteen.”

“Not too late then. So, what’s your plan for the evening?”

Melody shrugged. “Heroes then sex, we already had food but maybe we should get some snacks. All the good things, you know.”

Anne smiled and shook her head. “If any humans knew how we live life…”

“Good food, hot women, fun games, delicious snacks and soft beds. What else do you want in life?”

“Hm… a quick kiss before I get my deck?”

Melody giggled. “Alright, fair.”

Anne kissed her human girlfriend and bounced into her room.

Melody and Anne were lying in bed, awake. It was Saturday morning.

“We should go on a vacation.”

Anne turned her head to look at Melody. “Okay? Where did that come from?”

“Just thinking, we likely have some time before the chariots are ready and I only have one more meeting about the lab stuff on Monday. Might as well make some use of all that free time.”

“Why not, might be fun. To where though?”

“Without the magical translation stuff we should maybe stick to someplace we know the language.”

“So any place that speaks English or German?”

Melody shrugged. “Why not just Germany then? Pay Jolene a visit too.”

“It would be nice to finally meet her and I haven’t been to many places in Germany anyway. Just my dad’s hometown in Bavaria.”

“We could do a little road trip. Pick some nice locations we want to visit and check them all out while making a point of travelling the human way.”

“The human way.” Anne snickered. “Sounds fun. We should ask when the chariots are ready first though, so we can plan for how long we can just jet around the place.”

“True. No matter how long we stay, it will be fun though.”

“Oh yes. Speaking of fun, who are we kidnapping to join us?”

“Besides Kuria?”

“Yea.”

“We could ask around. Serena, Maggie, Julia, maybe even Atryca.”

“I want to kidnap Atryca, even just to see her and Jolene in the same room.”

Melody narrowed her eyes. “If it had any worth, I would pay real money to see that. We should check up on those three anyway, haven’t heard from all of them in a while.”

“You haven’t heard that Maggie and Julia bought a small house together?”

“Wait what?”

“Yea, last month.”

“No way, that is awesome!”

“You really need to keep up with our other humans. They are planning a little party once they have properly moved in but that will be a while. They still need to renovate and all that.”

“Fair enough. We kind of cheated that, I guess that will take a bit longer just using human means.”

“A lot longer, yea. I told Maggie that we can help them if they want, she said that she will only ask if they are stuck with something and that the experience doing it themselves is important and everything.”

Melody smiled. “Just like when we moved in here with all the furniture and stuff, I get it.”

“Exactly.”

“That also means they both got jobs there, right?”

“Well, Julia works in her family’s consultancy and can just work from home most of the time while Maggie has gotten a bit of starting capital from her parents to get her own business running.”

“That sounds vague… what sort of business?”

Anne shrugged. “I honestly have no idea, you’d need to ask her yourself.”

“Alright, I shall.”

“I have to admit that I have been bad about keeping up with the humans too. Heard anything from Beatrice recently?”

“Two or three months ago, yea. She was quite happy dealing with some renewable energy projects in Mexico, told Kuria she was dreading going home for her father’s birthday. That should be sometime next month.”

“Sounds like she is enjoying her work.”

“She sure does. That little bit of authority as Johnson’s right hand is just right for her well-being. The travel helps too.”

“We should check in with her too when she is back in town.”

“We should, yea.”

“We forgot someone on our list of possible vacation kidnap victims.”

“Nadine, but I didn’t forget her.”

“Okay?”

“She is already in Germany, we would just go visit her.”

“Wait, really?”

“Yea, she’s doing some intern thing at a bank in Frankfurt.”

“A bit busy to join our little road trip then but we can certainly come by for a visit.”

Melody nodded. “That’s my thought exactly.”

“So we will ask Maggie, Julia and Serena, then we go visit Nadine and Beatrice in that order.”

“If we have time before the chariots are ready.”

“Yes, if we have the time. Wouldn’t want to miss a chariot launch for the world.”

Melody snuggled up a little closer to Anne. “Well, I can imagine one thing that would make me miss that but that would be a bad thing to happen.”

“Yea, let’s not even consider that possibility. No, we will be there to witness those… what even are chariots? Airships? Spaceships? They’re not planes or anything like that.”

“Technically the original chariot is spaceworthy, so they might just be spaceships if they ever go to space. For now, they’re airships I guess.”

“Fair enough. Still, it will be awesome to see them in action.”

“Absolutely. I have so many questions to ask the engineers there already, that is going to be such an amazing time.”

Anne kissed Melody on the cheek. “Who doesn't love learning about more random things? It will be great fun, even if I doubt that I will ever need technical insight into magical chariot technology.”

“Not even for the riddle chamber simulation? There are two more difficulty levels we haven’t tried yet.”

“I haven’t thought about that but you are right. Yea, that might be useful.”

“And just like that we got Anne to learn about even more random things in life.”

Anne giggled. “That’s what we do, isn’t it?”
