Abby and Violet (Yuri Light Novel)

Starting today, I'll be updating how I run things in terms of workflow, creative process and adjusting the membership tiers on my Patreon.

First of all, I'd like to apologise if you received an influx of e-mails coming from my Patreon. I uploaded quite a few chapters, 7 if I'm not mistaken, this Monday, 29th of June, published another chapter, this one being chapter 1 of volume 7, and now, this newsletter, and I didn't remember to change the settings regarding e-mail notifications.

With that out of the way, here's the update, starting with what I believe will impact you more directly:

Patreon Tiers: The changes made were that the 1$ tier now only gives access to the 2 weeks of early access. The extra chapters, I move to the 5$ tier to make it more worth existing. Those extra chapters are, mostly, the ones I add to the retail versions of my books. That means that, if you already have the books, you already have access to the currently published books. However, there are still a few chapters that are truly Patreon exclusive ("Abby and Violet: Halloween Special", "A Puddle Too Deep" and "The Lingering Scent of Us"), and more will be added as I start editing and adding the extra chapter to volumes 4 through 6, and eventually 7 too. I'll add more details about the editing and publishing in the section dedicated to it.

To sum up:

The 1$ tier gives access to early access;

The 5$ tier also gives access to the extra chapters I add to the retail versions, both currently published and those that are being added to the one being currently being edited for publishing, as well as other extra chapters.

The 5$ tier, I only recommend to:

Those who want to give me more support and/or;

Those who don't intend on buying my books, since you already get the extras by giving me 5$ a month;

I'm also aware that you could game the system and subscribe for the 5$, binge-read the extra content, and then immediately cancel the subscription altogether or switch to the 1$ and possibly repeat that in the future once more chapters are added to the 5$ tier. That works for me too, if I'm to be honest. If you take the slice I have to give Patreon, I still get almost double what I get from selling a single book on Amazon. Currently, there are 11 chapters exclusive for that tier, and assuming that I add between 2 and 4 to each volume yet to be published and don't add any others to the 5$, that's what? 4.5$ I get for 19 to 27 chapters. Averaging them out to be 23 chapters, it becomes the same average as the total number of chapters in my books. That means I'd still get what my e-books retail for on Amazon (not what I actually get for a sale, mind you, that is considerably less).

I hope that, with this information, you can make a fully informed decision, and that I was as transparent as possible regarding the tiers. If you have any ideas and/or suggestions regarding those, feel free to reach out, as I'll at least give them a listen.

Things like asking questions, providing feedback, Discord access (it exists, it is perfectly functional as far as I'm aware, but is on hold since I have plans for it, but currently don't have the means to act upon them), and all that is free for everyone.

Release schedules: Will remain a weekly affair, aside from any extra chapter I add, which hopefully will mean that there will be two a week, one for both paid tiers, and the other for the 5$, but more realistically, it might be that every two weeks or so, an extra chapter will come out.

Personal updates: It seems like I'll be able to dedicate more time to actually writing, and as such, I'm re-shuffling my daily and weekly schedules:

Two days of the week will be reserved for writing vol. 7, aiming for 1.5 to 3 chapters written weekly instead of just the 1 I've been doing;

Three days of the week will be dedicated to editing, now for the 4th volume, and once that one comes out, volume 5, and so on. On those days, I'll try editing 2 or 3 chapters a day, and one of those 3 days might also be/solely be for writing the extra chapter (the so-called "Interludes" as I title them);

Weekends will be rest days/light work days. If/when I get a proper pc, I'd like to use the weekend to do some streaming on Discord/Patreon, if I'm not baking/cooking something new/that was requested by my folks, or just getting some fresh air and stretching the wheels of my beloved Classic 350.

My plan is to slowly but steadily build up a backlog again to ensure that paying members get their worth out of their subscriptions every week without interruptions, give me room to breathe in the eventual case that I can't work certain days because my brain decided to simply hate everything and everyone out of the blue, or because I was required by my family to do something that will require a whole da/days, or that I have to travel somewhere and my brain gets liquified by the noise of the car ride and its occupants, and the spike in tinnitus resulting from said noise overstimulation, requiring a couple of days of silence and of simply being to recharge. I'm a socially functional introvert, but an introvert nonetheless, and very much so too.

On a more personal note, I'll try to balance these things out with working out again for about 1h30 a day, 5 days a week (haven't really done any for over a month now and can't wait to finish today's work to do some of that) and also study Japanese daily for at least an hour.

I hope this wasn't too scatter-brained, as I tried to be concise but also not make it too bone-dry to read. As stated before, but now on a broader term, I'm always open to hearing from my community, so feel free to reach out with ideas, suggestions and feedback if you have any you'd like to share.
