Abby and Violet (Yuri Light Novel)

Vol. 6, Chapter XII — Pavilion Static

At school, it always feels like the teachers treat us with gloves, unsure how to deal with us, or give us a task that meant Abby and I would be alone with one another. Frankly, I had gotten used to it already and didn’t even think about it, however, I was thinking about that right now due to how casually our PE teacher told us to tidy up the storeroom. It was a small space, so one person would have been fine anyway, even with all the clutter. We also only had to put back the basketballs our class had used.

“Oh, so that’s why I was told to help,” I said as I watched Abby stretch her body as much as possible to reach a place that was still out of reach. “Because you’re too short to put them back.”

She flashed me a pouting glance, the words “stop poking fun and help me!” plastered all over her face. I giggled as I took charge of that, Abby passing me the balls as she took them from the bag.

The air inside smelled a bit stale and humid, the former from the gym equipment that looked like it might not have been washed in a long while, and the latter due to the rain falling outside. It sounded like an old TV static as the rain hit the thin sheet metal roof of the pavilion we were in. It all made it feel strangely peaceful and somewhat homey, but that was due to our routine of doing house chores together.

“Oh no, what will we do?” Abby sang from behind me all of a sudden. Looking back at her, I saw a huge impish grin on her face as she held the sliding door closed. “It looks like we got locked inside.”

And just like at home, as soon as the chores are done, Abby wants “treats” in the form of cuddles and kissies, and in this particular case, proving every teacher fears right.

“All right, all right,” I told her, my voice coming a bit monotone as I opened my arms for her. “Come here, you pest.”

She giggled and rushed to me with small steps, her knees making a rubbing sound, diving into my arms after opening my jacket, just so she had a more direct access to my skin, and immediately starting to sniff me under it.

“You smell wonderful,” she moaned as she rubbed her nose all over my collarbone and neck.

“And you smell sweaty.”

“Pfft, hehe! You know you like it. In fact, this morning, it seemed like you were loving making me all sweaty.”

“A-Abby!” I hushed her while she gave my neck some tiny licks and nibbles. “We are in school right now!”

She stuck her tongue at me before pulling my face for a kiss. I tried to keep my posture, but then Abby let out one of her happy sounds, and all my resolve went the way of the dodo. And the more I squeezed her and kissed her, the harder it was to resist her, as she was making more and more of them. It also reminded me of a certain conversation we had a while ago.

“Honey?” I panted, trying to get a word in by retracting my tongue, but Abby was having none of that.

“Less talkie, more kissie,” she panted between our lips, smacking, her tongue seeking mine.

It took quite a bit of effort for me to put some distance between our faces, in part due to her reluctance to stop the kissing, and in equal part, my being unable to resist her insistence, but somehow, I managed.

“About that talk we had,” I said, my voice trailing a bit as my heart began beating even faster than it already was.

“You’ll have to be more specific,” she teased, a finger doing circles over my chest. “We have plenty of talks, you know?”

“The… the one about… after we graduate?”

She looked at me with a playful look for a moment longer before her synapses flashed with the understanding of what talk I was referring to. Then, the impishness came back diabolically, her smile getting crooked with mischief, and horns almost sprouting from her head.

“Oh, that one?” she said, eyes flashing at me as she bit her lip, making me gulp. “I don’t mind doing it quickly here, but you know we prefer taking our time, and we still have a class to attend to before getting a big break, so...”

“I-I don’t mean it right now!” I cried out, Abby cackling before pulling my burning face for a long, deep kiss.

Just then, the door opened, and despite Abby and me pulling away, it was clear we had been up to something with how red and out of breath we were. What’s worse is that the person who opened the door was Vanessa, already in her school uniform. I honestly would have preferred it if it had been a teacher instead.

“I was told to check on you,” she told us, looking just as flustered as we were. “You were taking too long, so…”

“S-sorry!” I stammered while trying to calm myself. “We’re done here, so we’ll go change right away.”

She looked at us for a bit longer before opening her mouth to speak again.

“Were you… You were kissing right now, weren’t you?”

My blood boiled over instantly, not just from shame, but from being asked.

“Look, I know we shouldn’t, but it also has nothing to do with you,” I told her, my voice coming firm in an exchange of words with her for the first time ever.

“N-no! That wasn’t…” she began, her voice dying in her throat. She looked down at her feet as she shifted her weight. Then, she simply left, not once lifting her head or saying a single word back.

“…Did I mess up again with her?” I asked Abby.

She tilted her head at me, saying that I might just have, confirming my suspicions and making me feel worse. It felt like I had just kicked someone who was already down, and worst of all, it was someone I really didn’t know how to approach to apologise, especially since she asked something so private about my wife and I.

“Don’t worry, babe,” Abby softly told me while pulling me down to smooch my cheek. “The school year still has seven months until it ends, so I’m sure you’ll fix things up before then.”

I hoped Abby was right in her prediction. It’s not like I’d be too bothered if Vanessa and I never talked things over, but for the past month, I’ve seen her simply get to class, stare down at her books, and then head home. I didn’t want her to pay me attention; that’s not what I want at all, but knowing someone was hurting and I was related to the cause of it didn’t exactly help me stay relaxed at school, you know?

“Sven months,” I heard Abby whisper as she started rubbing her face on my chest.

“Abby?” I called.

She looked up, her face with a new set of rosy cheeks and sparkling eyes, a look that was far too dangerous.

“I still have to wait seven months for our promised love-making school farewell,” she said with her whiny, sweet voice.

“I-I haven’t agreed to it yet!” I barked as I tried to pull away from her before she made me agree to it.

“Pfft, ah-haha! ‘Yet,’ she says!”

I completely detached from Abby, taking big steps in front of her, huffing about how impossible she’s being today, while my wife skipped after me, waving her arms and humming a song as if we were taking a walk in the park.

“Took you long enough!” Mathilda huffed once we met her and the boys after changing into our uniforms. “We were already planning on leaving you two behind.”

We apologised to them for our delay while we took in the view. Mathilda was firmly pressed against Stephen while he hugged her under his coat. It sure looked cosy, and just for a second, I felt a bit jealous that Abby was the short and warm one in the relationship, but that didn’t last one single fraction of a second.

Nah! Short girls are way better!

“…Pfft, hehe!”

“…W-what?” I asked, putting an arm around Abby as she kept on rubbing herself against me. “Stop getting inside my head.”

“No can do, babe,” she told me with loving eyes. “That’s one of my second homes.”

“One of?”

“Yup,” she said with a giggle as she pulled me down to lend her an ear. Your heart is the other one, she told me, her lips tickling my ear, no doubt that being done on purpose.

“T-that so?” I squeaked while trying to act cool.

Abby let out a crystal-clear giggle as she told me that it was, very much in fact, how it was.

Mathilda, not being one to lose a chance to tease us, told us to stop as we were being sickeningly sweet.

“Looks who’s talking,” Abby and I said at the same time, Abby doing the pointing for us since my hands were busy being warmed up by Abby’s armpits.

“Both of you morronic couples are,” Mathew said, finally taking his eyes off his console screen. “Are you planning on making me jealous or something?”

“You know, I could introduce you to one of my female friends,” Mathilda said, her eyes locking on her new target. “They aren’t the kind of older ladies you like, but they are cute.”

“I’ll pass,” he told her. “I already have my eyes set on someone anyway.”

“Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! You’re being a bad boy, cousin,” Mathilda said, moving from under Stephen’s coat to hang herself from her cousin’s shoulders from behind. “Evelyn might get in trouble, you know?”

He shook her off, and Mathilda laughed as she pleaded with Stephen to let her back under his coat, which of course he did, telling her to also leave Mathew alone. Mathilda told him to keep her warm if he wanted her to behave before kissing him straight on his lips. That did leave me a bit jealous as I’d like to have that level of inhibition regarding kissing Abby, who was my wife after all.

“Babe, you’ll get wrinkles if you do that,” Abby teased as she placed a finger between my eyebrows, making me realise that I was frowning a bit. Sulking, actually.

“…”

“…Yes?”

“…Nothing. Never mind.”

I’d just kiss her a lot once we got home or found another hidden corner.

“…Pfft, hehe!”

“Again, get out of my head!”

In the middle of watching Abby’s fluffiness, I noticed that we were being watched. She averted her eyes when I looked, but for a second, Vanessa and I stared at each other. It was brief, but I could tell that there was no accusation or animosity in her stare, just hurt. It was a different kind of annoying, but for now at least, I couldn’t reach out to her and try to make things right.

One of these days, perhaps.
