Chapter 108: 108.Special Friendship-4

Brandy flinched for a fraction of a second, her amber-brown eyes wide and startled, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, as the warmth of his hand seeped into her cold, trembling skin, she leaned into his palm, a shuddering breath escaping her lips.

Mylo used his thumb to gently wipe away a trail of tears from her cheekbone.

"Hey," he murmured, his voice low, steady, and unshakeable. "Look at me, Brandy."

Her gaze dragged up to meet his, vulnerable and searching.

"You’re not stupid, and you sure as hell weren’t useless," Mylo said softly. "You put your fist through that bastard’s ribs while you were drugged out of your mind. You fought until the very second I kicked that door in."

He shifted upward, sliding onto the bench beside her. He wrapped one arm around her waist and the other over her trembling shoulders, pulling her gently against him.

Brandy hesitated for half a breath, her pride fighting a losing battle against the sheer exhaustion in her bones. Then, with a ragged whimper, the last of her resistance crumbled.

She turned into him, burying her face straight into the crook of his neck. Her hands came up, clutching the front of his jacket so tightly her nails dug into the fabric, her entire body trembling against his chest.

Mylo tightened his embrace, letting her feel his steady heartbeat, his hand resting on the back of her head to stroke her tangled hair.

"You don’t have to carry the whole world on your own back anymore," Mylo whispered against her ear, his breath warm against her temple.

"You want to design clothes and walk the runway? You do it. Keep moving forward, Brandy. Don’t let trash like him make you shrink. As long as I’m breathing, I’ll stand right beside you. I’ve got your back."

Brandy didn’t answer with words. She just let out a wet, shaky sigh, her grip shifting from frantic to something deeper, wrapping both arms fully around his torso and melting into his warmth, completely anchoring herself to him.

The infirmary door clicked open, and Reina sat bolt upright on her cot.

Her amber eyes widened behind her glasses as she saw Mylo step inside, supporting Brandy by the waist. Brandy’s face was pale, her clothes rumpled, her steps dragging heavily against the floor.

"Brandy?!" Reina gasped, instantly kicking off her blanket and rushing over on still-shaky legs. "What happened to you?!"

"Mac spiked her drink," Mylo said, his voice flat with suppressed anger. "Tried to pull something in the storage rooms. I handled him."

"That... that monster!" Tears of pure shock and fury welled in Reina’s eyes. She immediately slipped under Brandy’s other arm, taking half her weight. "Come here, sit down. Slowly."

Together, they helped Brandy onto the cot adjacent to Reina’s. Brandy sank into the mattress, hugging a spare pillow tightly to her chest, her knuckles still white.

Reina sat right beside her, wrapping both arms around Brandy’s trembling shoulders without hesitation. "You’re safe now. Don’t think about him. I’m right here with you."

Brandy leaned her forehead against Reina’s shoulder, letting out a ragged, exhausted breath. "Thanks, Little Mouse... I was so stupid..."

"You weren’t stupid at all," Reina said fiercely, gently patting her back. "He was a coward who preyed on you."

Mylo stood at the foot of the bed, watching them.

"I have to step out for an hour to handle an errand," Mylo said, catching both of their gazes. "Lock the door from the inside. Rest, drink water, and don’t leave until I come back for you."

Brandy looked up, her expression vulnerable. "Mylo... thank you. Really."

"Just take care of yourself," he replied with a faint, reassuring smile. He turned to Reina, nodding gently. "Keep an eye on her?"

"I will," Reina promised, blushing faintly under his warm gaze. "Be careful out there, Mylo."

With a final nod, Mylo slipped through the door, and the click of the lock sealed the room in quiet safety.

The silence hung between them for a long moment, broken only by the hum of the air conditioner.

"He’s incredible, isn’t he?" Brandy murmured, tracing the seam of the pillow. Her voice was unusually soft, lacking any of its usual bite. "When he kicked that door down... he looked ready to tear the building apart. But the second he touched me, he was so gentle. He just stayed calm, held me, and told me he had my back."

Reina tucked her hair behind her ear, a soft, dreamy warmth lighting up her face. "He is. He acts indifferent sometimes, but when someone needs him, he never hesitates. He’s so steady... like nothing in the world could shake him."

Brandy glanced up, her sharp designer’s eye catching the delicate, rosy glow painted across Reina’s cheeks. She frowned slightly, her gaze drifting lower.

Reina’s blouse was hastily buttoned-one button mismatched-and the collar sat crooked against her flushed throat. Even the way she sat, carefully shifting her weight as if slightly tender, struck an odd chord.

"Wait a minute," Brandy narrowed her eyes, the fog of the sedative lifting enough for her natural sharpness to kick in. "What were you even doing in the health annex to begin with? I thought you went to the library after class."

Reina froze.

The color drained from her face for half a second before rushing back with the fury of a wildfire, burning all the way to the tips of her ears.

"I-well, you see!" Reina squeaked, waving both hands frantically in front of her chest. "The lecture! The lighting was really bad, and I got a terrible, awful migraine! Yes! My head was throbbing so much I almost collapsed, so I came here to... to take a nap!"

Brandy stared at her, unimpressed.

"A migraine made your buttons crooked and turned your whole face the color of a tomato?" Brandy asked dryly, crossing her arms.

"I was tossing and turning on the cot!" Reina protested, her voice jumping an octave as she pulled her collar tight against her throat. "Stop interrogating me! You’re the patient here!"

Brandy’s eyes gleamed with razor-sharp suspicion, but seeing Reina on the verge of spontaneous combustion, she let out a faint, genuine laugh—her first since the ordeal.

"Fine. Keep your secrets for now," Brandy said, leaning back against the pillows. She paused, looking down at her scuffed sneakers. "Hey, Reina?"

"Y-Yes?" Reina asked, still nervously smoothing her skirt.

"Can I... crash in your dorm room tonight?" Brandy asked quietly, a sliver of her vulnerability returning. "I don’t really want to be alone in my apartment. Not tonight."

Reina’s fluster instantly melted, replaced by deep, uncomplicated warmth. She reached out, squeezing Brandy’s hand.

"Of course," Reina said softly, smiling. "We can share my bed, watch movies, and I’ll make you hot tea. As long as you need, Brandy."

Brandy squeezed her hand back, a small, genuine smile finally reaching her eyes as their bond quietly deepened.
