"Huh?"
Mylo nearly had a heart attack on the spot, his mouth hanging open.
"What in the world are you talking about?!"
"Hmm? Didn’t you literally just say that you want me to take care of you?" Meha asked, tilting her head innocently.
"No! I mean-yes, but I just said it in the heat of the moment!" Mylo stammered.
"There wasn’t any double meaning behind that! None!"
"Really? So... you don’t like me?"
"Yeah, I don’t like-wait, no! Okay, stop. We will just go in circles.’’
Taking a deep breath and exhaling, Mylo put his frustration under control.
"On the couch. Now."
"?! You are taking things too fast! We can’t do anything like that!"
"Noooo, please, just give me five minutes!"
"You will be done in five minutes?! Time is not the concern here! I’m not that type of woman, please control yourself!"
’’?! Forget about those things for now, please! Just focus on my words for a moment!!’’
’’How can you ask me to forget about my chasity?! I’m a proud mother! I won’t get swayed by any sweet word!’’
"...ahh!, waah... No way in hell..." Mylo felt like crying. This was definitely not the same woman he had met earlier.
After that, it took Mylo upward of fifteen minutes to clear up every last misunderstanding and properly explain himself to Meha.
Meha apologized over and over again for her stunt. At that point, Mylo simply had no energy left to give her.
"So, am I still working here or not?" she asked.
"You are. You are. Happy to have you here," Mylo said with a heavy sigh.
There wasn’t any need to overthink things anymore. If the arrangement had already been made, then so be it.
"I’ll give you a little tour."
He stood up and walked her through the flat: the living room, his bedroom, an empty guest room, and the kitchen. That was the extent of what she would need to maintain.
Mylo explained a few basic guidelines about her schedule, asking her to come once a day in the evening after his college hours. She would prepare dinner, finish the cleaning, and prep food for the following day.
"I don’t have groceries right now, so you won’t be able to cook anything today."
"Ah, that reminds me!" Meha unzipped her handbag and pulled out a tiffin box. "I actually figured as much, so I went ahead and prepared dinner for you."
Mylo chuckled, accepting the container with a soft smile. "That’s really kind of you."
"Oh, please, don’t mention it. Should I warm it up for you?"
"It’s fine. I’m going to eat a bit later anyway, so I’ll heat it up myself."
"Then I guess I don’t have anything else to do for tonight," she said, looking around.
"Yeah, you can head out now. It’s already getting late. I’ll give you a spare key, just in case I’m ever running late."
"Oh, I guess my work officially begins tomorrow then. Once again, I’m so sorry for earlier."
"I said it’s alright... it happens to... some people, sometimes..." Mylo trailed off.
He walked Meha Dansy toward the elevator, handing her a spare key along the way.
"Goodnight, Mylo."
Mylo waved tiredly. "Have a safe journey back home, Meha."
Reciprocating with her warm, mature smile, the same one he had seen when they first met, she waved back as the elevator doors closed between them.
Returning to the apartment, Mylo half-collapsed onto the sofa.
"She really is a handful, huh? I never thought dealing with an older woman could be so exhausting. I didn’t even have that much of a hard time with Miss Chloe... I guess she’s just that amazing."
Relaxing, he slumped down, but a weird odor suddenly caught his attention. He sniffed the inside of his T-shirt, catching an almost vomit-inducing scent.
"What the-cough, cough...! no way. Have I been smelling like this the whole time?"
Shaking his head, he forced himself to get up. The mundane routine of throwing his clothes into the washing machine and taking a long, deep bath followed.
Stepping out with only a towel wrapped around his waist, he finally collapsed onto his bed.The softness made him feel drowsy instantly. Right at that moment, his phone chimed with the sound of a new message. Glancing over at the screen, Mylo sat up in a hurry.
"Carey! So you’re alright then!" he muttered happily to himself.
The message read:
Meet me behind the 11th warehouse at docks at nine in the morning.
Carey had helped Mylo escape from the drug complex, and Mylo was deeply thankful for that. Of course, the reason behind Carey’s actions was Mylo’s helpfulness, a debt Mylo knew he would have to follow through on by helping in freshers party at Elisae hotel.
Suddenly, a realization struck Mylo.
He dropped his phone onto the rug below. His body collapsed back onto the bed, his hands gripping his legs tightly.
Why... why was I so comfortable back there?!
Scenes replayed in his mind, the bloody, brutal fighting alongside Carey. Him punching blood out of attackers. Reflexively, Mylo covered his mouth, his empty stomach churning as if he were about to throw up. His freshly washed skin was now slick with sweat as more gruesome memories resurfaced.
There was... there was something deeply wrong with me. There’s no way I would normally beat people like that...
He glanced down at his knuckles, remembering the sickening sensation of punching someone directly in the throat.
...What is happening to me? Is this related to the System?
He had been given the title Slave of Pleasure, and a name Lost to pleasure.
The word echoed in his mind, spiraling into confusion as he recalled another critical detail.
During his conversation with Venice, he had tried to close the distance between them. That shameless flirting, that sudden boldness... Mylo’s hands began to tremble.
I would have never done that...!
Forming a tight fist and slowly releasing it, he ran a hand through his damp hair.
There’s something really wrong with me. I’m changing without even realizing it. I can’t let this continue.
He looked up into the empty air, hoping a blood-red screen would manifest with answers, but to no avail.
It won’t give me any answers... and there’s only one place where I have any hope of finding them.
He had already planned on going back, but now his eagerness to explore that other reality, Narak, was at an absolute high. It was still a completely unfamiliar place that he knew almost nothing about, and considering how weak he was, the danger to his life would be even higher.
That was his fear, which he will face head on, after all, he was highly afraid of that fear.
