Absolute Loser Becomes The Pleasure King Using Satan System
Chapter 53.Different shapes of hardship-3Chapter 53: 53.Forest of No Shade-3
Hearing his question, Tritia let go of Mylo’s hand, drawing it back to herself as she grumbled.
"I don’t care. You’re so weak. Hmm. I don’t need to care."
"Really? You’d just ignore someone who can pull off something like that, simply because they appear a little weak to you? I don’t really buy that."
"You are so weak that I don’t have to care about anything. Hmm!"
Standing up, she turned her back on him.
"What’s with this whole ’weak, weak’ thing anyway? You seem mature enough to know strength isn’t all that matters."
Mylo stood up behind her, matching her pace as he spoke.
"Hmm! I’m mature enough to know that’s all there is! I’m done talking to you. Leave me alone."
"Hey, we haven’t even touched on why you asked for a Soulbind ritual in the first place. You can’t just drop it now, can you?"
"Forget about that! I have nothing to talk to you about. Don’t speak to me if you don’t want to get beaten. Hmm!"
She began storming away, but Mylo wasn’t about to let her go. He had realized something about her, and it bothered him to his very core. Reaching out, he grabbed her by the wrist, making sure to avoid her raw wounds.
"Didn’t you bring that up for a reason? I just want to understand. Don’t run away, face me properly."
"You... Who is running away. Hmm? And-" Tritia clenched her jaw, her fang-like teeth flashing in the corner of Mylo’s vision.
"Don’t touch me as you please!"
Screaming, she grabbed Mylo by the collar and shoved him back!
She hurled him toward the wall with so much force that Mylo felt his feet lift off the ground for a second.
Just before crashing, he grabbed her hand and used his own momentum to twist, spinning her around him.
"Euk!"
Both of them slammed back-first into the wall. Despite muddy walls, a sharp, burning pain flared across Mylo’s back.
Seeing Tritia recover instantly, he forced himself to react faster.
Grasping her hands, he stepped in close, using his body weight to pin her completely against the stone wall. With her wrists locked in his grip and his legs restricting her movement, she was thoroughly trapped.
"Huff... Hey, I’m not that weak, am I?"
Her head barely reached his neck, and his warm breath brushed over her. Looking up, she saw his faint, triumphant smile.
The cascading shadow of Mylo completely enveloped Tritia’s small frame. For a fleeting moment, her fingers wrapped around his hand, giving it a subtle, tentative tug.
But as the moment passed, she knitted her brows and set her jaw tight, loosening her hand and forcing her fingers to let go.
Clenching her jaw again, she composed herself and growled.
"You will regret this. Hmm!"
Her palms tightened, and her curved claws dug directly into Mylo’s hands.
"Iss...!"
A painful gasp escaped his lips right above her head, his body jolting from the sudden sting.
"Heh... those nails actually hurt."
As the words left his mouth, Mylo felt her ragged breaths hitting his shoulder, growing faster and heavier. Her chest rose and fell in quick, shallow rhythms.
"...Release me. Let me go. If you want, I’ll do the ritual with you. Hmm."
She didn’t pull her nails back, but the digging sensation subsided. Mylo looked down at her head; beneath her messy fringe, he could see her fallen eyelids.
"No. I won’t do a Soulbind ritual with you."
This time, it was her body that jolted.
"W-why? Then what do you want? Tell me!"
Her frame was frail, with barely any weight to her, making her feel dangerously delicate against him. Being this close, Mylo could even feel the rapid thumping of her heart.
"I don’t want anything from you."
He released his grip and stepped back, creating space between them.
"Is there something you want?"
He looked straight into her scarlet eyes, catching a thin layer of unshed tears shimmering inside them. Her brow was furrowed in complete disbelief.
A second later, her gaze dropped to the ground, and her expression smoothed into a blank mask.
"You can’t give me what I want. Hmm."
Her small palms lightly pushed against his chest as she brushed past him, walking back toward the hanging Vexfang.
Tritia... you...
The words that should have been said right there remained locked in his throat. Whether that was out of fear or acceptance, Mylo didn’t know.
Right... I have five daily quests to complete, otherwise things are going to get ugly. I can’t waste any more time.
Consciously forcing his focus to another topic, Mylo turned toward the inner passage of the cave.
"I’ll be searching inside. If you... need anything, call me," he muttered to the quiet air.
Tritia offered a brief glance as he disappeared into the dark hallway, before wiping her face with her palm and pulling down the Vexfang, even as the blood was still dripping.
As Mylo walked deeper into the cave, the condition of the inner chamber caught his eye.
The floor still bore the dark, dried stains where the lunatic had been killed, and surgical instruments remained scattered everywhere. The iron cage where he had once been held stood empty, right beside the rusted chains that had previously bound Meena.
"Haah... This shouldn’t feel like I’m finally back in my own den."
Walking over to an old wooden table, he pulled out a chair and slumped into it.
"Let’s see: 25 Vexfangs, 25 Tkerns, 20 Nothroughts, 5 Bearashs, and a Barebone. And I only even know what a Vexfang looks like."
He leaned back, counting off the targets on his fingers.
"Isn’t this way too tough? Hah... Should I just let the curse unleash and see what happens?"
...Nah, who am I kidding.
Shaking his head, he shifted his attention to the stack of books lined up nearby. He had high hopes for the amount of information he could gather from them, but right now, his sole focus was finding details on the monsters tied to his daily quests.
"Still, it’s going to take way too long to go through all of these and locate each monster... How much time do I even have left?"
Hey, System. Help me out here. I have no way of knowing how much time is remaining.
What if I fail simply because I didn’t know the deadline?
You can’t do me dirty like that.
Hey, come on, do something! Are you even listening?
Hey, do I need to start praising Lady Vespara?
A blood-red screen materialized in front of him.
.....
[NOTIFICATION]
The System is not your personal assistant!!!!
...
Despite the sharp response, a smaller digital display materialized in the air beside it:
[19:18:31]
It was a countdown timer, ticking down second by second.
"I knew I could depend on you, System!"
A smile returned to his face as he began sorting through the ancient volumes.
"These look really old... Let’s hope the content is actually readable. Hmm... Cut Any Organ Safely, no. Secret to Starving for Eternity, also no. Elementary Guide to Sins, nah. Secret of Endangered Sin... Research on Autopsy: A Child Can Do It!, absolutely not. Record of Shades... Changes in the Forest of No Shade-ah! This might work!"
Finding what appeared to be the right text, he excitedly laid it out on the table near a wall section that emitted a faint glow of its own.
"Let’s see if there’s a table of contents... Eh? Huh?! What the hell is this writing?!"
