Chapter 565: Chapter 564: It needs correction.

"Kiro, you were saying?" Keith asked as he looked at the blood rain falling outside the main hall.

"Ah... who knew?" Kiro laughed as Keith rolled his eyes.

"How long do we have to wait here?" Keith couldn’t help but ask.

Kiro shrugged.

Just then, the door opened, and Devon walked out. However, he looked absent-minded as he walked past them.

Keith looked at Kiro before they both hurried after him.

"Sir Devon, is everything alright?" Kiro asked.

Devon finally looked at them and spoke.

"Everything is going well. You guys take a day off," Devon waved his hand as he quickened his pace. Within a few steps, he had already disappeared, leaving both Kiro and Keith stunned.

After a few moments, Kiro shook his head before turning to Keith.

"How about we spend the day in the city?" Kiro suggested.

Keith merely gave him a look.

"Well, that’s not a no, so..." Kiro said with a smile as he dragged Keith along.

The two left the Molak Family and headed toward Molak City.

Before leaving, the Molak Family guards handed them temporary identification tokens, signifying that they were affiliated with the Molak Family.

Entering the city once again was a refreshing feeling for Kiro, while Keith silently observed everything around him.

It was leagues above every city they had seen during their journey, and even more so compared to his tiny hometown.

From the bustling market district to the residential area and the town leader’s residence, everything was lively.

Guards constantly patrolled the streets, while the deep hum of massive ships arriving from the sea echoed throughout the city.

The fresh breeze carried the scent of the ocean and fish through the air.

Kiro looked at the children playing nearby and couldn’t help but stop to watch them.

Their laughter...

The way they hugged one another...

The way they walked around together, buying sweets from the nearby stalls.

While many people came to Molak City for trade, others made it their permanent home.

They would live under the protection of Molak City for the rest of their lives while also contributing to its growth.

"Hey... what’s wrong?" Kiro asked after noticing Keith standing still, watching the children.

"It’s... nothing, really."

"But thinking about it..."

"Kids know nothing about the world."

"They don’t have to worry about anything."

"I mean, look at them..."

"I was once like that."

"Alas, not every child gets to enjoy that blessing, right?" Keith said.

Kiro slowly nodded.

"That’s the reality of life."

"Some people enjoy it, while others suffer, Keith."

"We can’t change that, even if they’re children," Kiro replied.

"Really... is it like that in the Upper Realm too?" Keith asked.

Kiro gave a bitter smile.

"Yes."

Keith pressed his lips together.

"Why can’t children be protected from it?"

"Aside from being turned into slaves, can’t the strongest people come together and make a rule?"

"I’m not saying the whole world should change, but at least nothing should happen to children," Keith asked.

Kiro let out a heavy sigh.

"Keith, you don’t understand."

"The world doesn’t work like that."

"And the strongest can’t do that."

"Let’s say they actually made a rule like that."

"Would everyone follow it?"

"No."

"In fact, it would make children even more vulnerable."

"Do you know what some people gain from breaking the rules?"

"The feeling of being above everyone else."

"The feeling of power."

Kiro clicked his tongue as he spoke.

"Isn’t that just bullshit?" Keith asked.

"Is it, though?"

"You can never truly change the world that made you."

"Things have been happening this way for decades... centuries... even thousands of years."

"Do you really think a single person can change all of that?"

"What a joke."

"Even if one era under a powerful being was peaceful, the moment that being dies..."

"It’s all over."

Kiro spoke as Keith gritted his teeth.

"What if that being was strong enough to have eternal life?" Keith asked.

Kiro laughed.

"You think someone with eternal life would spend it guarding the Mortal Realm?"

"In fact, do you think they would even reach that realm without relying on the current world?"

"Never."

"So, in one way or another, you’ve already benefited from the very world you’re trying to change."

"Even if you claim you’re changing it, everything you’ve done beforehand would make that claim seem hypocritical."

Kiro paused before continuing.

"Keith, I’m from the Upper Realm, and it’s exactly the same there."

"Do you think they can’t enforce such a rule?"

"They can."

"But only in a world where survival exists can change, evolution, and growth truly happen."

"Take a rabbit, for example."

"Do you think a rabbit would learn to hop or develop strong limbs if food came to it while it simply lay on the ground?"

"No," Keith replied.

"Exactly."

"It would stop moving since food would simply come to it. It would grow fatter and fatter until it dies."

"Now, if a predator were to find it, it would be finished."

"Any world without an ecosystem is doomed. In fact, it wouldn’t even become a true world."

"Why do you think we’re all cultivating? Trying to become stronger? Training every day?"

"I might be wrong, but I believe our fate is tied to living and dying at a young age—being prey to some creatures while becoming predators to others."

"We stepped outside that predetermined fate."

"We broke our limits."

"We defied destiny."

"That is why every realm is a hurdle."

"We’re trying to seize control of our own fate."

"But you can’t even realize that in a world without death or constant threats."

"So this kind of world has to exist for you to become this strong."

Kiro spoke, his eyes turning distant as he remembered the words his grandfather had once told him.

"But... I don’t..." Keith wanted to argue, but Kiro smiled and interrupted him.

"Do you know how many people you’ve killed to reach your current level?" Kiro asked.

The two of them fell silent.

"If I hadn’t become a slave... if the slave traders hadn’t..." Keith began, only to be cut off once again.

"Then you and your entire town might have been destroyed by the aftermath of a clash between powerhouses."

"Or your town might have been attacked by monsters."

"Or a strange plague might have wiped all of you out," Kiro said.

"Or..."

"My parents might still be alive, and I could’ve continued living happily in that small town."

"In fact, I don’t care about that town."

"Only my parents."

"They’re all that matter."

"My life would’ve been far better."

"I’d trade everything I have now for that... in a heartbeat."

Keith’s voice rose as he spoke.

"So that’s it..." Kiro thought as he finally understood Keith’s past.

His town had been attacked.

His parents had died.

He had been sold into slavery.

It was a tragic life.

He had fought desperately just to survive.

"Keith..."

"If that had happened, and your parents died of old age or illness instead..."

"Would you blame the world?" Kiro asked.

Keith remained silent.

He turned back to look at the children playing nearby.

"I would’ve accepted it," Keith finally replied.

"That’s a lie," Kiro said.

Keith clenched his fists.

"Hey! Give it to me!"

"No! It’s mine!"

Their conversation was interrupted as two children began fighting over a toy.

Just then, an older child walked over and snatched it away.

He and several of his friends surrounded the younger children.

"Everything in this area belongs to me, Harvi."

"If I catch any of you sneaking toys or snacks home, I’ll beat you up," the boy threatened, speaking through a mouth that was missing several teeth.

Faced with a twelve-year-old bully and his group of friends, the frightened eight-year-olds could only hand over their toys and sweets.

Just then, Keith’s gaze shifted toward a nearby alley.

A child was being beaten by an adult for stealing.

Not far away, loud arguments erupted in the marketplace as a man was nearly beaten to death after offending the young master of a powerful noble family.

Keith had seen the good side of the world.

Now...

He had also seen its ugly side.

Just as Kiro had said...

The two existed together.

They were what made this world.

This world...

"Maybe this world doesn’t need saving..."

"It needs correction," Keith muttered.
