Achieving Demon Godhood from Unlocking Talents
Chapter 321 35: Senior Alchemist, AchievedCLANG... CLANG...
A crisp sound echoed from the train tracks by the road.
After leaving the Storm Club, Lu Chao crossed the platform and boarded the tram.
The car wasn't too crowded, so he found a window seat.
'The Xu family.'
With a glint in his eyes, he gazed out the glass window at the receding streets and high-rises.
Lu Chao knew exactly where that earlier stare had come from. He could also guess the real reason they were deliberately avoiding him—a stark contrast to their usual warmth.
He shook his head, not giving it much thought.
'Everyone makes their own choices. As long as they don't get in my way, it's fine.'
What he couldn't forget, however, was the incident with Master Ge. He was still mulling it over even now.
'Who could that Superpower Level accomplice be?'
He didn't know.
But as his eyes turned cold, Lu Chao knew that if he could just capture that Old Ghost Li, the full story behind their feud would finally come to light.
...
WHIRRR!!
The glass elevator, carrying nearly a hundred people, plummeted downwards, flying past the massive pillars that connected the surface to the subterranean dome.
A network of lights embedded in the cavern's ceiling glowed day and night. Powered by the district's ample electricity, it formed an artificial sky that illuminated the entire city.
Old, rickety sky-cars zipped past giant, hive-like concrete buildings, and moss grew thick in the dark corners along the roads.
Wastewater from the streets flowed through the sewer system, plunging into the deeper levels of the Hive District. A tangled web of pipes crisscrossed the Hive's underbelly, running down along steel walls and rock formations. Countless secret chambers had been born from this network.
"Tsk tsk. Old Ghost, you're really something else."
In a secret chamber, a curly-haired woman in a red leather jacket sat at one side of a long metal table, her tone teasing as she glanced at the person seated beside her.
Li Gusha, dressed in a black robe, had arrived earlier than usual, his wrinkled face hidden beneath his hood.
"I heard someone at the Limit-Breaking Level from the Storm Club was seriously injured... hit by the Blood Poison Palm."
"That was your handiwork, wasn't it?"
As she spoke, everyone else in the secret chamber looked over, and Legos's interest was piqued as well.
"A pity I was just a little off. I couldn't manage to kill that Old Ghost Ge."
Li Gusha said sinisterly, his voice laced with both cruelty and regret.
He hadn't answered directly, but it was an admission all the same.
Oh?
Hearing this, the red-haired woman raised an eyebrow, then gave a seductive smile. "Interesting."
"I've heard the rumors out there. They say you had an accomplice. So, spill it, Old Ghost."
"There's nothing to say. Just a friend."
Surprisingly, Li Gusha lowered his gaze, offering no further explanation.
The others present had mixed reactions, most of them looking puzzled.
'This old bastard has always been a cold and gloomy person. He joined the organization after being severely wounded years ago, and he'd pick a fight with anyone. Where would he have gotten a friend?'
"Did the Tan family help you?"
"The Tan family hunted me back in the day! I'll settle that score with them sooner or later!" Li Gusha snorted in response to the probing question.
"Someone from the warlords?"
"Zhu Yue, don't you think you're asking a bit too much?"
His voice was impatient and a vicious glint appeared in Li Gusha's eyes. He was clearly unwilling to say more.
Seeing this, the others grew thoughtful, and a silence fell over the room.
"Fine, let's change the subject then."
Zhu Yue smiled, then looked at Legos and the others across the table. "The plan is proceeding more or less as expected. We should start making our own preparations."
"When the time comes, the success or failure of this operation will be up to all of you."
As her voice fell, the others nodded.
Li Gusha remained silent the entire time. At one point, as if sensing something, he looked across the table.
A young man in a blue sweatshirt met his gaze impassively, and their eyes crossed for a brief moment.
...
「More than half a month later.」
Inside the Superpower Bureau headquarters, on the third floor.
The training grounds were bustling, and the THUD of fists hitting punching bags echoed through the air.
Barbell bench presses, explosive speed drills, body-tempering exercises that involved striking steel...
The agents of the Superpower Bureau used every spare moment they had, focusing all their energy on their own training.
Sweat dripped down, drenching their clothes in a weary, day-after-day routine.
A competitive atmosphere filled the training grounds. From time to time, one could see Superpower captains coming and going near the gravity room, training with even greater intensity.
And yet, in the midst of this fervor, Lu Chao was not in a hurry to start training. Instead, he stood in the alchemy lab off to one side of the training grounds, his expression focused as he stared at the object before him.
It was a specialized glass apparatus, suspended in the center of a hollow-topped table.
It looked like an alchemical furnace, crafted from special materials with excellent heat resistance.
It contained a number of items, all of which were currently melting under the intense heat.
There were bright red fruits and tender green Spirit Plants, crystalline mineral elements, and the refined, liquid-like Life Essence of an Advanced Mutant Beast.
With a gurgling sound, the ingredients gradually came to a boil, melting into several mixed liquids of different colors.
'Three Red Spirit Fruits, seven types of mineral elements.'
'One hundred kilograms of Life Essence from an Elite Level Swordhawk Beast, refined three times into a pure extract...'
Lu Chao stared intently at the glass apparatus, the steps for concocting a Senior-Level Nutritional Potion—the Vigor Enhancer—flashing through his mind.
This was a potion recipe from the book of Magic.
He had already recorded and backed up all the knowledge from the book of Magic before deciding to get rid of the dangerous 'hot potato.'
All told, this had saved him at least tens of millions in cash, or hundreds of thousands of contribution points.
HUMMM!!
With a thought, the heating element under the table intensified, continuing to bake the contents of the glass furnace.
Amidst the gurgling sound of the boiling potion,
Lu Chao followed the steps in the recipe, continuously altering the temperature to allow the medicinal properties to gradually fuse.
