Achieving Demon Godhood from Unlocking Talents

Chapter 339 42: Purification Crystal, True Identity

In just a few minutes, the cement district grew crowded and noisy.

"Hey, look. They're here again. This is like a fox guarding the henhouse—they're definitely up to no good."

"You can't say that. I heard they're planning to upgrade our district—gas pipelines, housing repairs... I don't know if it's true or not, though."

"You're a grown man, Old Wang, and you believe that? The big shots from downtown came to inspect before, and what happened? Not a damn thing. I bet they're just here to put on a show."

As the mixed chatter rose and fell, the Superpower Members cordoning off the street wore grim expressions, remaining on high alert.

Witnessing this, a repairman inspecting pipes on a street corner lifted his eyes slightly, revealing an unremarkable, middle-aged face.

A flicker of coldness and killing intent crossed his eyes. He gripped his wrench tightly, as if about to step forward.

But a moment later, his ears twitched. He turned and walked away, his movements natural as he headed for the alley at the corner.

"Hey, hey. Don't you like inspecting pipes? Keep at it."

"Not so chatty now, are you? Who said you could leave?"

Two tattooed punks from nearby were deliberately making trouble, blocking his path.

Carrying his toolbox, the repairman said nothing. He simply pulled down the brim of his cap and kept walking, disappearing completely into the alley.

"You wanna leave? Fine. Pay the protection fee."

"Or else, don't blame us for what happens next..."

CRACK!!

The neck of the troublemaking punk was snapped. His companion's eyes widened, and he opened his mouth to scream.

But in the next instant—

SLAP!

An ancient Palm Seal shot out, clamping over the man's face and muffling his mouth.

Then, a blood-red Qi Flame appeared on the palm. As if laced with a potent venom, it began to corrode the flesh from the punk's head until nothing was left of his face but rotting bone.

THUD!

The body fell to the ground. The two tattooed punks had died gruesomely, their faces now unrecognizable.

The repairman in his black work uniform tugged the brim of his cap. He tilted his head, glancing out of the corner of his eye toward the mouth of the alley up ahead.

CLACK! CLACK!

"You old devil, you really know how to make trouble for me."

Zhu Yue appeared, dressed in red leather, clearly displeased that he had attacked so suddenly.

"The bodies are your problem," the repairman in black said coldly. His voice was ancient, utterly mismatched with his middle-aged face.

"Besides, there's something I don't understand."

His eyes were glacial as he stared at Zhu Yue. "That was a good opportunity just now. Why the last-minute change of plans?"

He knew exactly what this mission was for, and that they had deliberately exposed a dozen of the organization's safe houses for this. All those at the Superpower Level were lying low, biding their time.

That's precisely why he was growing impatient; this was delaying his plans for revenge against those old geezers.

In response, Zhu Yue didn't answer, instead looking up.

WHIRRR!!

An old hovercar skimmed over the top of the apartment building, its downwash sending a gust of air through the alley. The red maple leaf emblem of the Patrol was clearly visible on its side.

"Legos ran into a little trouble. We need to wait for another opportunity."

Zhu Yue lowered her gaze and explained in a level voice, "But it'll be soon. Don't worry."

"These inspectors are about to let their guard down. When that happens, you can make your move however you see fit."

At this, the repairman in black frowned.

He didn't say anything more, however, just watched as she turned and walked away.

The alley fell silent. He reached up and peeled the skin-like mask from his face, revealing a grim, ancient visage beneath.

Then, his eyes shifted, and he suddenly looked up.

On the rooftop of the concrete building above, a figure had appeared at some unknown time. Clad in a blue hoodie, they looked down, meeting his gaze from a distance of seven or eight meters.

"What, worried I can't keep my mouth shut?"

Li Gusha asked mockingly. The other person remained silent for a moment.

Finally, a cold, detached voice drifted down. "You have one more chance to cooperate."

"Think carefully about how you're going to beg me."
