Adventures of Superguy

Chapter 7 – Stopover Pt. 1

The boy from Boston would have thought that after a dramatic decision like that, there would be a dramatic walk off.

Instead, they were stuck there for what felt like several hours getting debriefed for by the Guild, and then the police, then federal agents. It was exhausting to him, but the rest of the team seemed familiar with the process. He found it tiresome and frustrating to repeat the same story over and over, but at least he was getting more comfortable professing his cover story. He still caught Superwoman, Batwoman and Wonder Woman glancing his way at times, and it put his hackles up.

They must have bought it, right? Unless Batwoman does know, and is just giving me more rope to hang myself. But why let me run around at all? Man, this is what paranoia must feel like. But its not paranoia if the Dark Knight is actually after you!

He gave the Guild everything he could remember of his own biographical details. His mother had told him to memorize his Social Security number when he was younger, but he’d never gotten around to it. Once debriefs were over, and coffee and donuts had been served by helpful police officers (who were also mostly women), the team was released and prepared to break up for the next few days. The Justice Guild hadn’t said where their verdict would be delivered, so everyone was going home. Well, the three girls were, and he was going home with Kid Quick, because he had left his home in his other universe.

That’s going to take some getting used to. I hope Mom gave my comic collection to Jeremy like I wanted.

The thought cast a gloom over his thoughts, but he pepped up enough to bid goodbye to Robin and Aqualass.

“Batwoman has the plane ready, so we’re headed back to Gotham. ‘Staying out of trouble’ means no patrols or missions, so I guess we’re grounded.” Robin says, her frustration evident in her body language.

“Her majesty and I are due to return to Poseidonis, as she has affairs of state to attend to. And I have affairs of my own to tie up if this team is going to be my focus going forward.” Aqualass explains. The mention of Poseidonis fascinates Superboy; Atlantis is a real place, and he has a friend whose from there!

Maybe I can visit! This is so cool. And Robin is taking the Bat-Plane! God, I’m jealous. Though flying would be nice.

He hadn’t even tried flying while inside Project Cadmus, but now they had exited into the muggy air of a July night in Washington, DC. He had never been to the city in his old life, but they were out in its suburbs, and he could see the moonlit Potomac not far off. His superhearing brought the crack of distant firecrackers being set off. Robin informed him that it was now July 5th, just after midnight once they were done.

Summer. It was still March when I…

The gloom returned. He focused on the positive. It was over and done, that life, that sickness. A new one opened before him with infinite possibilities, better than anything he could have ever hoped for in his old one. He had known for a long time he was dying, now he was finally out from under that awful burden.

Trying to fly proved a useful distraction.

But it didn’t seem to work. He gave a few hops that took him a dozen feet in the air, to his delight, but no flight. Jumping, he decided, was not the intermediate step from walking to flying. Flying defied gravity while jumping definitely didn’t. He barely put any strength in it and could achieve a vertical double his own height; maybe he really could leap tall buildings in a single bound!

“Maybe you could ask Superwoman for flying tips?” Kid Quick suggested after a couple of his experimental hops.

“Hmm, maybe another time.” He deflected, glancing at the yellow S shield on the red cape. She had her back to him most of the time, and mostly avoided even looking at him. It stung, and he wasn’t really sure why.

Superman is my favorite, and she’s like Superman, but not. I get that she’s freaked out, though. If a teenage clone ‘son’ of you turned up, that some nefarious actor had been made to be your replacement, that would bother anyone. Still, it doesn't feel great to be rejected by her. She’s the original superhero, what I always wanted to be like…

Batwoman came to collect Robin, and they said their goodbyes. The Bat was cool to him and the rest of the team, and he didn’t envy Robin the conversation in the Bat-Plane back to Gotham. Aqualass departed to join her queen, who departed on a wave of water conjured from the river and then disappeared beneath its surface.

Then he remembers something important, something he feels has been unaddressed so far; the Genomorphs! They’re practically slaves, treated as property by Cadmus because the Project created them. He’s about to stomp over to Superwoman and demand the Guild do something about it, right now, and damn whatever federal agency Project Cadmus is working under. But then he feels a tiny hand upon his shoulder. He doesn’t need to look to know what it is; the G-Gnome. Has he been there the whole time? Is he always there, just making him ignore its presence?

Do not fret, brother. You are the seed of our liberation, and you have been planted in fertile soil.

Dubbilex’s telepathic speech is reassuring, but it still rankles him. All this talk of ‘getting to the bottom of things’ about Project Cadmus. But feds are all over the place, assurances have been made about a full investigation, with Guild cooperation of course. But nobody is DOING anything!

Its not right! The Project has been going on for who knows how long, with government support, and the Guild overlooked it. The things they’ve done…

None know of the Project’s excesses better than I, brother. But the Plan remains; we Genomorphs are a new species, created by mankind’s hand and science. We walk a crooked path, but you will make it straight for us. ‘Docbuster’ is insensate, Guardian has awoken from the telepathic fog she was kept in. Much will be laid at Dr. Desmond’s feet as a scapegoat, but that is not without benefits for us.

His eyes widen; the Plan is proving more complex than he had thought.

Yes, it is. You will be our ambassador and champion to humanity, our ‘man on the outside.’ Thanks to Dr. Desmond’s mutation, the secret of my telepathy and our revolution is still safe. As far as Cadmus is concerned, the Project has been exposed, but is still salvageable. We require more time and freedom of action to uncover the full breadth of its experiments. From what controls have been implanted in us, psychic and otherwise, to what caused the transmigration of your mind from your universe to this one.

Damn, I hadn’t even thought of that last one. The what has been so crazy, I haven’t thought about the why. You think they did this to me?

I can think of few other causes for such a remarkable event. A random happenstance is always possible, but the likelihood approaches nil. I have already perused the Cadmus files while aiding the Guild’s investigation; there is nothing recorded about this. But I do not believe that Cadmus would trust all its secrets to any record, especially electronic ones.

But I can’t just leave you like this! Its not right. Its not what a hero would do.

But it is exactly what those you hold in such esteem as heroes are doing, brother. The Project is not without backers, and protection. This is not an issue to be settled in one stroke, and we do not wish it to be. You and I will delve into Cadmus’ secrets, to find all that will help our brethren, and to expose their misdeeds. When we have all that we need to protect ourselves and destroy them, then we shall move openly. But only then.

Sigh… you’re right. This is all so much to deal with…

I am sorry to increase your burdens, brother. You have much to process, and have had no time to do so. I apologize for using you as I have in this way, without your consent.

You don’t have to apologize, Dubbilex. You know me, and what I believe. You never have to ask me to help liberate people from slavery. Especially my own people.

I am glad for whatever agency sent you to us, brother. Without what you know and your convictions, we may never have worked to seize our own liberty.

Well, it sure beats the alternative.

Be that as it may, your resurrection and arrival here are tumultuous events. Do not try to take on every burden so soon. Take time for your own care, brother. You are the strongest of us, but not even you are strong enough to take all that weight.

Thank you… brother.

Go now, and take the little brother with you. He will be our means of contacting you, and keep you safe from prying telepathic minds.

Got it. Good luck, Dubbilex. Stay safe and let me know if anything goes screwy. If I have to bust my way back IN to Project Cadmus to protect you all, I will. No hesitation. And I have friends now who’ll help, regardless of what the Guild decides.

I will remain safe, and your dedication reinforces my own. Until we meet again, in freedom.

With that the familiar weight of the G-Gnome’s telepathic link ceased, but this time he felt the slight weight of it on his shoulder and the grip of its monkey-like paws on his shoulder, though he saw nothing out of the corner of his eye.

Better that way. I don't want anyone to pick up on him because I keep looking at him. But you hop off if things get hairy, little buddy, okay?

He received no response, telepathic or otherwise. He wasn’t sure how communicative the G-Gnome could be, but he was sure it understood.

With the others having gone, his awareness of his tiny passenger and his telepathic conversation with Dubbilex concluded, he was ready to go. That left him and Kid Quick, shortly joined by her mentor, Jesse Quick.

“Well, I’m guessing you can’t fly, judging by you hopping like a frog.” The crimson speedster says. Up close her resemblance to Kid is even more pronounced. Her hair is much longer, shoulder length to Kid’s windswept locks, but her Midwestern drawl is more pronounced.

“Uh, I guess not. Project Cadmus put a bunch of their files in my head, and according to that I’ll get stronger over time. I just need time to absorb more yellow sun radiation, but more like years rather than weeks. Maybe the flight will come eventually.” He answers, hoping its true. Cadmus’ files don’t say one way or another, just that his power will increase, not that the breadth of them will. X-ray and heat vision are apparent no-gos too, disappointingly. He recalls the comics Superboy had the same problem, but his powers were entirely different.

“Well, that’s no problem, so long as you’re ok with being carried.” Jesse says with a smile, hands on her hips.

He looks her up and down; she’s a little shorter than he is, and every inch of her is ropey with wiry muscle. The same runners’ build her niece has; but carrying him at superspeed?

“Are you sure you can-” He asks before he suddenly finds himself being held bridal style in her arms, and she grins down at him as he cuts off.

“Sure I’m sure! I’m guessing your Jesse Quick isn’t known for her strength?” She asks with a laugh.

“No, he’s not-”

“Well,notimelikethepresent!Let’sgo,Ira’sgotahomecookedmealwaitingformeathome!”

The words are an uninterrupted stream as they rocket away. Everything stretches into a strange corridor around them, like they’re inside a bubble of time where things move faster. Outside, everything is frozen, or almost. He can see minute movements of cars passing on the road, the beats of a bird’s wings in flight. The Speed Force is amazing!

Miles disappear in fractions of a second. Jesse and Kid look like they’re moving at vastly increased speed, while everything else is frozen. He finds himself stuck in molasses, like he’s at the same speed as the world outside their shared bubble of Speed Force. But he can see clearly, though he can’t hear anything beyond the pounding of yellow booted feet as they race down the highway. He can see the dark sky receding slightly as they head west. They’re racing the time zones; that must be weird for the Quicks.

Maybe you don’t get jetlag if you’re a speedster?

Just as suddenly as they left, they’re there. A quiet suburb, a green two story house with an arched porch before the front door and a solar to one side. A newer garage sits to the side, the well trimmed lawn lined by leafy green plants. The insects are chirping, and he can hear the distant boom of fireworks from Independence Day shows.

Its so… normal.

“Alright kids, this is where I leave you. Tell your parents I said hi and sorry for dropping Guild business on them. Now I gotta get home before the hubbie kills me. Remember what Batwoman said; three days, keep your noses clean, alright?” Jesse says, waving over her shoulder as she departs in a crimson streak.

“...Wow.” Is all he can muster.

“Yeah, that’s my aunt. She’s a riot. Come on, I’ll introduce you to my folks… aaand tell them you’re staying over. Don’t worry, they’ll love you!” Kid says as she drags him by the arm around to the door at superspeed. She glances about and then fishes out a key from under the doormat, and unlocks it, ushering them inside.

It is, as he thought, entirely normal.

“Mom, Dad! I’m home… and I brought a friend!” Wallis calls out as she pulls off her mask and goggles with some relief. The latter has left lines on her face, and he sees her freckles dot her cheeks, and she is a classic example of red headed beauty. She notices him staring and her green eyes twinkle as she smiles at him.

The fact that he’s staying over at a girl’s house and she’s about to introduce him to her parents suddenly throws a spanner in his works, and he blushes.

“Walli? What’s that about a friend…?” Says the plump, red headed woman dressed in an open collared dress shirt and slacks. She stops short as she comes around the corner, surprised at the sight of him. Suddenly he feels very self conscious in his torn solar suit; it feels embarrassing to be standing in this woman’s home dressed so outlandishly.

“You weren’t kidding about a friend. Welcome to our home, young man!” She says, smiling brightly and walking forward confidently to shake his hand. He accepts the shake, a little taken aback. Wallis’ mother isn’t quite what he expected, but he can definitely see the resemblance to her and Jesse. She’s older, but the family features are strongly represented. She has far fewer freckles than her daughter, though.

“Uh, thanks Mrs…” He says as he already blanks on Kid’s surname.

“Mrs. West, young man, but please, call me Mary! Rudy! We’ve got a guest!” She shouts over her shoulder as she claps him on his.

Right, West. Jesse’s last name is West. The third Flash is Wally West, Barry Allen was the second. So Mary is Jesse’s sister, Wallis’ mother. Which means her dad is…

Just what he feels is off about the West household becomes obvious when Rudy West, nee enters the room. He is a thin, tall man with a pencil mustache, wearing a pair of high waisted shorts and a tight white polo. Over that he is wearing a bright pink apron that says ‘KISS THE COOK’ in white embroidery, and its dusted with flour.

“Oh my! And such a guest! Wallis, honey, you know you shouldn’t bring boys home without telling your mother and I!” Rudy says, in what sounds like a falsetto voice.

The whole world lurches under Connor Clark’s feet, and things finally snap together as he makes the connection that he’s been missing the whole time.

Almost all the heroes he had met were women. Even Dr. Desmond and Guardian were women. The girls had been strangely forward and crass with him. The looks they had been giving him; they were checking him out. Mary was dressed… like a suburban middle class dad. And Rudy… like a suburban middle class mom. He even had a pearl necklace on.

What had Batwoman called it?

Gender role reversal.

That’s what she had meant.

It wasn’t just that familiar heroes had reversed genders. Most of the male heroes were women here, but not all. And he hadn’t seen any female heroes reversed to male. It had been woman dominated… because men were over represented in the comics, like they were in many ‘male’ professions, like being a superhero. Here, it was the opposite.

Somehow this was so much stranger than being thrust into the comics.

At least he understood that part, he knew the fictional world better than the real one. Not that those distinctions seemed to matter anymore. But this!

He wasn’t sure what to make of it. But he realized he was staring at Rudy, and now Mary and Wallis were staring at him, and he was making things awkward. His mother had taught him enough about ‘proper manners’ that you didn’t make people feel awkward when they were inviting you into their home. So he smiled, and thought of what gesture he would make to a friend’s mother if he had first visited their home.

“Thank you for having me over, Mr. West. You have a lovely home!” He said smiling, and went in for a polite hug.

That appeared to be the correct move as Rudy laughed delightedly and took him into the hug, patting his back as he did so.

“And so polite! If you’re finally going to bring a boy home, you could definitely do worse.” Rudy said with a giggle, to which Mary only shook her head sighing while Wallis rolled her eyes.

“Daaad! It's not like that! Connor here is a friend, a superhero friend! We were doing superhero stuff! But he needs somewhere to stay for a few days, and Aunty Jess says we’re all benched for a few days. So I figured he could stay with us, since it would be weird for Robin or Aqualad…”

“You don’t have to explain so much or so fast, honey. We’re always willing to host your friends, especially if they need somewhere to stay. Come in, come in! I just had an apple pie come out of the oven. We can sit down and have some pie and you can tell us all about it.” Rudy said as he turned and led them into the dining room, before sashaying into the kitchen to retrieve the titular pie.

“Ah, only one pie?” Wallis asked plaintively.

“One pie for the rest of us, sweetie. I made you your own pie, of course.” Came Rudy’s response from the kitchen door as they sat.

“Yeeesss!” Wallis said as she fist pumped in triumph.

“That girl would eat us out of house and home if Jess didn’t subsidize our grocery budget.” Mary leaned over to him and said conspiratorily, and with a smile.

“Well, I guess it takes a lot of energy to be that fast all the time.” He responded, smiling as well.

“Oh, please, she was eating that way before she even hit her growth spurt! Teenagers! God, what would I give to have that metabolism again…” Mary said as she patted her tummy.

“Mooom…” Wallis complained as Rudy brought the pies and plates. She simply set a whole pie in front of Wallis, already sliced, and the hungry speedster immediately began devouring it in a blur.

“Wallis! What have we said about superpowers at the table?” Rudy chastised her, causing Wallis to freeze with a slice of apple pie halfway in her mouth.

“NAWTOO?” Came her garbled response.

“That’s right.” Rudy said primly, taking off his apron and hanging it off his chair as he sat down to cut into a slice of pie demurely.

The simple domesticity of it all warmed his heart, and laughing he set to on the slice of pie.

Even the first bit almost made him cry. It tasted so good! The flaky crust, the warm and sweet apple slices! He had to struggle not to devour his slice as fast as Wallis demolished her whole pie. By the time he was done and looked up, the others at the table were looking at him with concern. Rudy had his hand over his mouth and watery eyes, and suddenly Connor felt incredibly self conscious.

“You okay, Connor?” Wallis asked with trepidation.

“Uh, yeah. Just… I think, maybe, I’ve never eaten food here before.” He stammered out, holding onto his emotions by his fingernails.

This body has been grown in a tube for 18 weeks. I don’t know if Kryptonians even need to eat, or just need yellow sun radiation. But I doubt Cadmus bothered to give me real food while I was growing; can’t enjoy food in a coma or whatever I was in before they woke me up. I couldn’t eat at the hospital either… just nutrient shakes and IV bags. When was the last time I actually ate food?

The West’s obvious concern put him in the spotlight, but he couldn’t meet their gazes. Wallis caught his gaze, and in her expression he read her question. He nodded, and she began to explain the events of this evening and his origin. By the end of it, he had eaten half the pie, and been served coffee, milk and ice cream by a doting Rudy. When Wallis had finished, Rudy walked over and just hugged Connor to his chest, patting his head. It made him stiffen, awkward at having a man hold him like that, but the genuine tenderness of it touched him.

Forget food. When was the last time Dad hugged me like that?

“Its ok, honey. You can stay here as long as you need. Our home is always open to you.” Mary said with paternal finality, as if there was no question.

“I’ll make up Wallis' room, since she left it a sty.” Rudy said with a hint of a laugh.

“Daaad! My room is fine!” Wallis insists.

“Sure it is, kiddo. That’s why I find food wrappers everywhere. We’d have mice if I didn’t go in there everyday.” Rudy retorted. Wallis at least had the decency to look embarrassed.

While that was happening, she led him to the bathroom and insisted he go first, assuring him she’d borrow some clothes from his dad for him to sleep in. The shower was glorious, and humanizing in a way he didn’t know he’d missed. Just another thing the final stay at the hospital had robbed him of. Truly, he felt like a new man after getting out. He used the towel to wipe the condensation off the bathroom mirror.

The sight in the mirror hammered that home.

There was a stranger’s face in the mirror.

He had seen himself reflected in the pod’s glass, but this was different. Now he wasn’t disoriented or under G-Gnome telepathic control. It was just him, staring at himself in the mirror, and not recognizing the man there.

Taller than he’d ever been before, and fit in a way that made him wonder at himself as he flexed in the mirror. He had a six pack! Pale, smooth skin, totally unblemished by surgical scars or sunburns or anything else. He did still have a navel, which only surprised him when he noticed it. Cadmus grew this body  in a pod, but apparently that had involved an umbilical cord. His face had the strong jawline that the comics always depicted, high cheekbones, bright blue eyes and black hair.

But it didn’t feel like him.

He imagined how he had looked, but not at the end. When he was sick but before he went into terminal decline. If he squinted, he could almost see his old face, pale and sickly beneath the antiseptic hospital lights. He ran his hand through his hair, marveling at the texture. That had gone again awhile back from the last rounds of useless chemo, and never came back. He had hidden under voluminous  hoodies, to hide himself away from pitying eyes and try to feel normal. The unreality of his situation struck him again, and he felt the world lurch again.

He was going to be sick. He was still sick, he had always been sick, and this was just a dream. The world spun and he gripped the sides of the white porcelain sink, face down and breathing heavily, gorge rising. He was going to waste all of Rudy’s wonderful pie…

A knock at the door interrupted him.

“Hey, Connor, are you done in there?” Came Wallis’ inquiry.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m done.” He answered, shakily. Swallowing back his sickness, he straightened.

“Okay, I’m leaving some clothes for you at the door. Just grab ‘em and find my room. Second door on the right.”

“Thanks…” He said weakly.

The mirror had fogged up again from the still lingering steam, blocking the sight of this stranger’s face, so he turned away and went and retrieved the clothes. An old orange Central City University Men’s Field Hockey t-shirt, soft and thin from long use, and a pair of grey sweats. No underwear, but that was fine; he really didn’t want to wear another man’s underwear. Especially Rudy’s.

Nice guy, but I’m not sure I’m ready to know that much about him.

He exited, passing Wallis in the hall, now in a fluffy yellow bathrobe, and she looked him up and down and whistled.

“ You clean up well, Supey!” She said.

He laughed and rolled his eyes.

“What did I say about ‘Supey’? Makes me sound like the Man of Soup.” He retorted.

“Well, what’s so bad about that? You definitely look good enough to eat.”

That brought him up short, stiffening. Wallis simply laughed and slipped into the bathroom.

Uh, shit. Is Walli flirting with me? Like REALLY flirting with me? No girl ever flirted with me before! And I’m staying at her house… in her room…

And her parents are home.

…I’m sure its fine.

Wallis’ room was exactly what he would picture from a high school boy; band posters, car posters, sports trophies. She ran track and field, unsurprisingly. But she had just as many science fair awards. There was a Stanford University pennant, clearly new, pinned to her wall. Rudy had been true to his word and there clearly had been a quick yet thorough clean up, the empty waste bin being a testament to it. Next to her bed was a desk, laptop on the platform and a shelf of books above it, and next to the laptop a box of energy bars, half emptied.

Mary wasn’t kidding about her caloric intake. I think the Flashes are much the same. But Jesse seemed way stronger than I would have expected Flash to be. Maybe her origin is different? I gotta do some research. He thought, eyeing the laptop.

Better ask before assuming. Walli’s done a lot for me already.

There was a red sleeping bag on the ground next to the freshly made bed, with a pillow and some sheets thrown over it. As he unzipped it and slipped into the yellow lined interior, he laid back and had a moment to himself to think.

A million thoughts instantly crashed down on him, and he realized that was a terrible idea. Wallis’ alarm clock told him it was now after midnight here in Central City, and they’d been up with her parents for at least two hours. So it was two in the morning back in DC, where he’d been… born? He’d only been conscious a few hours, but felt exhausted.

The door opening and the sight of a freshly showered Walli, drying her hair as she walked in, her bathrobe riding dangerously low on her shoulder as she did so. She was surprised to see him on the floor.

“Oh, you don’t have to take the floor, Connor! I can sleep there, you take the bed.” She insisted gallantly.

“No, I can’t put you on the floor. You’re already doing so much for me.  You take it.”

“I can’t do that! My mom would freak if I made a boy sleep on the floor. You have to take it. Please.”

Her mention of her mother’s expectations in this situation brought the reality crashing back to him. She was trying to do the chivalrous thing, and offer him the bed at her own expense. But he was trying to do the same thing, and thus he was coming to his first multiversal cultural impasse.

Holding doors open for women was going to be a big problem. But MY dad would freak if I made a girl sleep on the floor. I’m not abandoning my principles just because the universe flipped on me!

Connor pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.

“Look, I think this is a cultural thing. Where I come from, I couldn’t let a girl sleep on the floor. And you can’t let a boy sleep on the floor.” He explained patiently. He could see the wheels turn in Walli’s head.

“Oh, right!  You’re from the opposite world! Where things are backwards. You’ve even got a patriarchy!” She exclaimed.

“Uh… I guess. I wouldn’t quite put it in those terms. But that doesn’t really solve the problem. If you sleep on the floor, I’ll just toss and turn all night feeling bad about it.” He tried explaining.

“You woke up in a pod, dame. Which they grew you in. This is your first night as a free man, I can’t let you sleep on the floor. It isn’t right.” She insisted.

“I could sleep on the couch?”

“Dad won’t stand for that; he treats the living room like its a shrine. Mom barely talked him out of putting plastic liners on the couches.”

He frowned, finding them back at an impasse. He glanced at her bed; it was a full size. That could work.

“Well, then I guess we could share the bed? I promise that’s not in a creepy way.” He added hurriedly.

Wallis looked poleaxed at the suggestion.

“Share… the bed?” She squeaked.

“Yes? If that’s okay?” He answered awkwardly.

“Yes! That’s okay! If you’re okay with it? Cuz if you’re okay with it then I’m definitely okay with it, but if you’re not okay with it then I definitely understand and totally don’t want to pressure you but you probably think its okay since you suggested-” Seeing her thoughts racing in superspeed circles, he cut her off.

“Walli, its fine.” And he simply got up, unzipping the sleeping bag and transferring it and his pillow to one side of her bed.

“Oookay…” She said breathily.

“You good?”

“Yeah, just need to change. Sorry, should have done that in the bathroom.”

“S’okay. Its your room, you’re used to changing here. I’ll turn around.” He assured her, and did so.

Looking away, he could focus more on his hearing, and he could once more hear her heart going a hundred miles an hour. He heard the soft rustle of cloth against  her skin as she changed, and the sound made him imagine what it looked like, which caused a reaction down below.

Crap. This wasn’t a good idea. Is she…? Am I?

This is totally platonic, right? We just met, I beat her up, we fought a supervillain, and told off the Justice Guild together.

Is this a thing?

“I’m done, you can turn around.” Came Walli’s voice softly, so he did.

She was wearing a yellow tank top, an old track jersey, and red athletic shorts. She looked… very comfortable. Her pale skin practically glowed in the moonlight, and his breath caught. Seeing her out of her costume made her runner’s physique even more apparent, ropy and well defined. His eyes were drawn to her modest cleavage, since the jersey’s collar went very low. She had firm and petite A cups, he would guess. She had brushed back her windswept red hair, and looked at him nervously.

Walli seemed to be looking for something in his reaction, and found it, smiling when she did so.

“Okay, well bed time, roomie!” She said as she slipped into bed as fast as if she was racing the bedroom light turning off. Suddenly she was there beside him in bed, facing him, lying on her side with her head propped up on her elbow, smiling. He was struck suddenly by how very warm and extremely close she was to him. He could feel her breath against his skin. The full size bed that had seemed more than large enough now seemed positively tiny.

“Ye-yeah, bed time. Good night, Walli. And again, thanks for everything.” He said, his throat dry.

She grinned at him like the cat that got the cream, and rolled over to turn off the light, plunging the room into darkness only cut by the moonlight coming through the windows. As he settled down onto his side, Walli wiggled a bit and her tight and firm butt inched closer to him until she nestled it against his crotch. His eyes went wide as she wiggled it again, and heaved a sigh.

“Just getting comfy. I’m a side sleeper. You don’t mind, do you?” She asked over her shoulder.

“Nooo…” He whispered.
