Chapter 2165: Clean Up III (bonus Chapter)

On Grey and Elder Harrington’s side, the situation was completely different. The Peak Sovereign Necromancer was fully suppressed and could barely keep himself alive. In just a few minutes since Grey joined the fight, they had already severed one of his arms. Both of his legs were clearly broken, and his entire body was covered in his own blood.

"Stop! I’ll tell you everything I know, please stop!" he begged, desperately trying to defend himself as Grey and Elder Harrington’s merciless attacks continued to rain down.

He attempted to escape once again, gathering the last of his strength to shoot into the distance. Grey appeared in his path almost instantly and prepared to launch another heavy strike. When the Necromancer’s panicked plea rang out, Grey swiftly glanced at Elder Harrington. Seeing no reaction from the older man, he continued without hesitation.

The attack slammed into the Necromancer and sent him flying. He coughed up several mouthfuls of blood as he tumbled through the air before finally crashing into the ground with heavy force. He no longer had the strength to keep himself afloat.

His hatred for Grey shot to the roof, not just Grey, but also Space Elementalists. He vowed if he had the power he would make sure the space element stopped to exist. With Grey being a Space Elementalist, it was impossible for him to escape. Even when the Necromancer had a head start earlier, Grey had still caught up to him with ease. Now that he was within sight, there was no chance of getting away from him. This was not his first attempt to flee, and every previous try had been stopped just as easily.

Grey and Elder Harrington appeared above the crater where the Necromancer had landed. They looked down and saw him sprawled at the bottom, panting heavily, completely unable to stand. When he tried to raise his remaining arm, it fell limply back to the ground almost immediately. He no longer had the strength to lift it. His breathing was ragged, and blood gurgled in his throat with every cough.

Elder Harrington only needed a short glance to know the man was finished. He could already sense the Necromancer’s essence core leaking energy, a clear sign that it had been shattered. The man’s vital essence, his very life force, was fading rapidly as well.

After observing him for a second longer, Elder Harrington raised one hand. A large ice sword materialized in the air above the crater and dropped straight down with heavy force. It slammed into the bottom of the crater, sending a cloud of dust and debris into the air.

When the dust settled, both Grey and Elder Harrington confirmed that the Necromancer’s aura had completely vanished. They burned the corpse thoroughly before turning their eyes toward the distant city. Without another word, the two of them took flight and headed back.

As they flew, Elder Harrington could not help but stare at the young man’s back. He could no longer deny it. This youth was truly exceptional. When the Mayor had first explained the plan to attack the Necromancer headquarters with such a small group, he had been skeptical. Then he heard Grey’s boasting which he thought was arrogance at the time. Now that he had personally witnessed Grey’s strength, he felt the rumors circulating about him still fell short of the truth, this young man was even more amazing than people knew.

Back in the underground hall where the battle had first begun, only Reynolds and Void remained. Although the earlier fight had alerted many citizens, the Mayor’s prior arrangements ensured that no one dared approach the area to investigate, even though the battle had already ended for some time.

Reynolds, who still had his eyes closed while recovering, suddenly sensed something and opened them. Grey appeared in front of him a moment later.

Elder Harrington arrived a few breaths after.

"The Mayor isn’t back?" Elder Harrington asked as soon as he appeared and saw no sign of the Mayor or Elder Voss.

Reynolds shook his head in reply.

Elder Harrington’s brows furrowed slightly. "Return to the manor. I’ll go check on them."

Grey and Reynolds nodded. They left the ruined underground hall and headed back to the Mayor’s manor to continue recovering.

As the two of them flew toward the manor, Reynolds nudged Grey.

"When did you perfect your fused inscriptions?" he asked. "I saw you kill the array master with it. I’ve seen you use that technique before, but it was never this stable."

"After my fight with the emissary," Grey explained. "Most of my time during recovery was spent trying to perfect the method of fusing the inscriptions. You know I originally used my fusion orbs as a reference. Once I found the correct wave, rhythm and connection point of each inscription, I succeeded in fusing them without the usual unstable reaction."

He paused, then let out a slightly downcast sigh. "Unfortunately, I still can’t create a five-element fused inscription. If I could, I’m certain its power would reach the level of a Half-God Plane expert." He gave an embarrassed smile. "When I forcibly tried it during my experiments, I almost blew up the house. If my father hadn’t reacted quickly to contain the explosion, I might have destroyed at least half of Red City."

Reynolds’s mouth twitched at Grey’s expression. Most people would be thrilled to wield an attack that already reached the level of top Peak Sovereigns while still only in the Ninth stage. Yet Grey looked disappointed that he could not push it even further.

The two of them soon arrived at the Mayor’s manor and went to the hall where they had gathered earlier. They settled down and continued recovering in silence.

Some time later, they sensed three powerful auras approaching at high speed. The familiar fiery presence of Elder Voss was enough for both of them to identify the group.

Grey and Reynolds stopped their recovery and stood up just as the three figures appeared before them.
