After Achieving Invincibility, I Set Out to Destroy Sects
Chapter 20: The Dark Abyss Sect Attacks the Invincible CloudThe man from the Dark Abyss sect, after a short journey, finally reached the Eastern Region. As the Sect Master of the Dark Abyss—a Half-Immortal expert—the travel had not taken long.
Upon arrival, he immediately went around gathering information as he waited for his sect to arrive. The information gathered was mostly worthless, consisting of details about the top powers of the Eastern Region but nothing regarding if they had any secret powers that could invade a secret realm.
The Sect Leader of the Dark Abyss sect then waited patiently for his sect to arrive, as he himself was not good at information gathering.
The days passed by, and the Dark Abyss sect finally arrived, as they followed the instructions of the Sect Leader to his location, finally meeting with each other.
The Sect Leader was annoyed at how long it took for his forces to gather, but he couldn’t do much about it, so he sent them out to gather any clues about the secret realm thief.
Over the next few days, the people brought back worthless reports not worth mentioning. Then, finally, an interesting piece of news came about a new sect that emerged, one whose power or origin no one knew.
The Invincible Cloud sect was newly established, containing a Sect Leader of unknown power who had easily destroyed several sects in the Eastern Region.
They had also kept their territory when the secret realm was opening, which was quite suspicious, as so many sects had come and they must have wanted a place to stay. Yet such a prime location, close to the secret realm, was not taken, but instead remained with this random sect in the Eastern Region.
There was no such coincidence in the world, and this sect was very suspicious. The Sect Master of the Dark Abyss sect then said, "Look into this sect and see just how strong they are. If the Sect Leader is really as strong as people say—that no one can tell his power—maybe he is the one we are looking for."
As he finished saying this, the people of the Dark Abyss sect set off toward the Invincible Cloud sect to gather information.
At the Invincible Cloud sect, Jiang Yun finally found something to do. After so long, since he had nothing better to do, he thought he might as well experiment with alchemy. Jiang Yun had absolutely no talent for alchemy; that’s why he never practiced it after initially trying it.
Now, as a Dao Unification realm expert, he had no need for pills, and initially, he viewed learning it as a waste of time. This initial thought was proven wrong, as now his sect was rather big and needed resources to advance in realm and ascend.
Even though his current realm is high, he cannot directly elevate realms in cultivation for others, as it would cause their realms to be unstable. Even if he did and ignored the foundation, such massive amounts of energy in a weak body that hasn’t gotten used to this power would explode.
Instead, he can only play a supporting role in speeding up the process by providing a good environment and plenty of resources. So, Jiang Yun decided to learn alchemy again, as now, as a Dao Unification realm expert, his understanding of rules has increased by an insurmountable amount. Learning alchemy wouldn’t take too long and could even be better than what most ancient practitioners of alchemy could make.
Jiang Yun started by taking out an alchemy cauldron from his ring. Though Jiang Yun doesn’t have many other things other than herbs, he tends to keep at least one of everything, and he always kept the best.
So, this cauldron he took out could even produce Beginning Dao realm pills, as he had gotten it from killing another Beginning Dao realm expert years ago. Dao realms don’t use pills to gain more Dao energy like how immortals use to get more immortal energy. Instead, Dao realm pills are used to increase comprehension and understand rules.
This means even if a Dao realm cultivator takes a Dao realm pill, they can still just never break through if they still couldn’t understand the rules. Unlike Dao realms, an immortal can break through as long as they take enough pills. Though Dao realm pills are mostly seen as worthless due to this, they still exist and are used when one gains an epiphany, so as not to lose the sudden realization and break through the realm.
As Jiang Yun understood this concept, he put it aside, as he currently hasn’t even made a mortal realm pill, much less a Dao realm pill.
He then ignited a Dao fire using his Dao realm energy; the heat was extremely powerful and could even rival a strange fire that alchemists use to make pills. Jiang Yun then studied the rules of the world, trying to understand how to make alchemy, as he didn’t know the order nor the temperature control. After a long while of studying, he finally understood the basic concept of how to make a pill.
Jiang Yun then threw in the herbs and controlled his fire to turn them into medical liquid. Slowly, he put all these liquids together and formed a pill. Then the pill was finally finished, and it exited the cauldron.
Jiang Yun then looked at the smooth pill with blue and white patterns. It was a pill that could help a Nascent Soul cultivator progress in cultivation. For the first time learning alchemy, Jiang Yun was very satisfied with the result, as most had to start by making Qi Refining pills no matter the cultivation level.
As Jiang Yun was beaming at his accomplishment of learning alchemy in success for the first time, he sensed intruders nearby his sect that had murderous intentions.
The group of intruders grew confident as they experienced no danger no matter how close they got to the Invincible Cloud sect, and assumed this place was not dangerous at all and continued forward.
To gain more information, they decided to risk it and enter the Invincible Cloud sect, but still no danger. After this, they grew very confident, thinking that this mission would be easy and they could just kill everyone here and leave one to take back for questioning.
They then saw Jiang Yun sitting cross-legged in front of a cauldron and, taking this chance, started their attack on the man in front of them. As they couldn’t feel any strong presence from Jiang Yun, they assumed this attack would definitely succeed.
The next moment, the group of invaders were frozen in mid-air, not being able to continue their attack. The next moment, Jiang Yun stood up, annoyed at being interrupted at his alchemy.
Maybe this was why alchemists are irritable when someone interrupts them in their alchemy, as when they are just getting the feeling of discovering something, they are interrupted and miss out on the feeling.
Jiang Yun had this feeling and walked towards the intruders still hanging in the air and looked to see who they were. Not being able to figure out their origins, as they were in the average everyday wear of people, there was no one to tell where they came from.
Jiang Yun then began questioning the group: "Why have you come here attacking my sect? I don’t think we have had any interaction before."
The group started having cold sweats as no matter how hard they struggled, they couldn’t break free. Even more so, the man in front of them was so leisurely asking them questions, unafraid that so many people that were high-level cultivators had come to attack.
This group of people was led by a Mahayana realm elder as well as several Tribulation Transformation realms. This was a force that could wipe out a medium-sized sect in the Eastern Region, yet they could do nothing in front of one man. This made them stay silent in fear.
Jiang Yun, not getting a response, then threw a fireball, turning half of the intruders into ash, and asked again, "What are you doing here? If I ask again, I’ll directly kill all of you."
The group, realizing their situation, couldn’t take the fear anymore and finally replied, "We are from the Dark Abyss sect, here to inquire about the thief in the secret realm. We have traced it to your sect, as you, a newly found sect, could be so steady as to hold your territory in front of so many powerful sects. You must have some backing or some strong power to do this, so we needed to find out more information. We are just here to search for information, so let us go."
Jiang Yun was amazed that something so small so quickly was traced back to his sect. It even caused attackers to come not long after killing the previous group.
Jiang Yun, gaining what he wanted to know, directly turned the group to ashes. He then went back to alchemy, as this was more important right now than destroying the Dark Abyss sect.
Since they were going to come anyway, might as well wait until they come this way; he wouldn’t need to exit the sect to deal with them and interrupt his alchemy.
Usually, Jiang Yun would have just wiped out the sect directly, but his sudden success in alchemy was addictive, and he wanted to progress further. The group that was coming posed no threat and could be put off.
If the alchemy was put off, the feeling would be lost, and getting back into the feeling of making alchemy would be quite difficult. So Jiang Yun went back to making alchemy, letting nature take its course, and waited for the Dark Abyss sect to come.
