Su Qing then stood up as Jiang Yun had finally arrived. Her face softened as the person she was waiting for had finally come.

"News has arrived back at my sect that the beast tide is starting soon," Su Qing explained. "Once every hundred or so years, the beasts start acting up, led by a powerful beast ranging from an early ninth level to a peak ninth level beast, which is equivalent to the late-stage Mahayana realm to the Half Immortal realm, and they set out to rampage across the land. It is now about that time again."

Jiang Yun asked, "Why have you come all this way just to explain this to me?"

Su Qing replied, "I want you to be ready, as this beast tide is not something to be underestimated. Even powerful sects in the central region can be easily destroyed from the sheer number of beasts that join the rampage. Each time the beast tide happens, so many beasts join in on the rampage that it goes further than the eye can see."

Jiang Yun then asked, "Then how is your sect doing? Are you able to handle such a catastrophe?"

Su Qing replied, "My sect is already making preparations, though I don’t know how effective it would be, as the beast tide has always missed my sect and we have been able to survive each time. Though, we still have to prepare for the worst case."

Jiang Yun replied, "Then go back quickly and prepare. I am strong enough, so you don’t need to worry about me. Instead, you should worry about yourself, as this is much more dangerous for you."

Jiang Yun took out a tablet from his ring and handed it to Su Qing.

"I have been learning array formation lately, and this is a communication tablet," Jiang Yun explained. "If you run into danger during the beast tide, crush this tablet and I will know instantly. I will be there to deal with the beast tide for you, so make sure to contact me if such an event occurs."

Su Qing looked at the tablet, unsure if it actually worked. She then looked at Jiang Yun, reluctant to just leave like this. After much deliberation in her mind, she replied, "I understand. Then I’ll be heading back now, so make sure to take care of yourself in the coming beast tide. I won’t be here to watch over you, so you have to take extra precautions."

Su Qing then turned away and flew out of the Invincible Cloud Sect back to her own sect.

Jiang Yun then went to set some array formations around the sect. Though he was not afraid of the beast tide, if by some coincidence some beasts managed to make it in, it could be quite a catastrophe.

After setting up the best array he could currently make, Jiang Yun went back inside to continue his research on the way of array formations.

As the days went by and Jiang Yun kept himself busy waiting for the beast tide, he made significant progress at array making. Jiang Yun can now make a defensive array to block Soul Formation realm cultivators.

Adding this extra layer of defense to the sect, Jiang Yun was quite satisfied with his progress. As he was heading back inside, Jiang Yun saw a group of low-level beasts charging towards the sect. It first began as a handful, then slowly increased in size to hundreds.

The strongest among these beasts were only level three, which is equivalent to the Golden Core realm, while the rest were mainly level one, equivalent to a Qi Refining realm cultivator.

This was probably the beast tide that Su Qing was talking about, Jiang Yun thought. But why are they so weak and so few of them?

As the beasts all rushed forward, they ran straight into the defensive formation that Jiang Yun had arranged. As these beasts were far too weak, they couldn’t even make a dent despite there being so many of them.

Now that these beasts had attacked, Jiang Yun decided he would eliminate them, as they were surrounding the sect and violently trying to attack those inside.

Jiang Yun then spread his pressure outward towards all the beasts present. The beasts, being much more keen towards danger, instantly felt the threat to their lives and tried to escape.

Jiang Yun did not want these beasts to escape in case they came back later to cause trouble. He then increased the pressure, causing all the beasts to be crushed towards the ground, unable to move. After releasing a little more pressure, the beasts started dying in vast numbers.

Finally, after a couple of moments, even the level three beast died from the pressure Jiang Yun released, leaving the land surrounding the sect littered with beast corpses.

Jiang Yun was careful not to crush them into a bloody mess, as beast corpses are quite useful, especially considering there are so many of them here now. Jiang Yun then collected all the corpses present into his ring for future use, whether to eat or for other purposes.

Cleaning up the surroundings, the environment was brought back to what it was before. Jiang Yun then went back to the sect, as he had resolved the threat.

Back at the sect, Jiang Yun took out a beast corpse that looked similar to a cow, intending to have meat for dinner. After cooking and eating a hearty meal, Jiang Yun was quite happy about so many beasts invading, as it would mean he would have plenty of meat to eat in the future.

Finishing his meal, Jiang Yun went back to researching array formations, intending to improve his level to prepare to improve his gateway for when someone in the sect ascends.

The current gateway requires too much energy, as it is inefficient and has to be supplied power constantly. Once Jiang Yun’s array formation level reaches high enough, he no longer has to do such a tedious process.

Several more days passed, and Ning Yangran and Zhen Siqi came back to the sect. They had finished what they had to settle at their village and came back to report to Jiang Yun.

Ning Yangran began her report, "Thank you, Sect Leader, for all your help. The village is back to how it was and our families are now living peacefully, but we noticed something on our way back."

Zhen Siqi continued, "On our way, we saw large amounts of beasts in groups, seemingly preparing for something. We guessed that trouble might arrive soon for everyone in the area."

Jiang Yun then thought back to a few days ago and how it seemed that the beast tide was far too small and weak. Perhaps that was just the first wave, which is why it was so weak. Soon, there might be more attacks that are stronger than the one before.

As Jiang Yun was finishing his thoughts, a situation occurred outside the sect as loud crashing noises could be heard. Something was attacking the defensive formation, trying to break in with great force.

Jiang Yun then ordered the two women, "You two don’t need to worry about this. Just go back to your rooms and cultivate diligently, and I will take care of it."

Having reported what they wanted to say, Ning Yangran and Zhen Siqi nodded their heads and went back to their residences. Jiang Yun then went towards where the sound was coming from.

Arriving at the entrance of the sect, Jiang Yun saw what was causing the disturbance. In front of him, ramming against the defensive formation, was a beast that looked like a goat. This goat beast was at the fourth level, and by its side were several other beasts at the third level.

With these powerful beasts all attacking, it made sense why there was such a big commotion at the entrance. Though the defensive formation was holding up just fine, it was still being shaken from all the forces being inflicted on it.

Jiang Yun then wondered how many more waves of beasts there were. Considering the main leader of the beasts is at the ninth realm, equivalent to a Mahayana realm cultivator, the current one was far from that level. If the increase in strength of the waves was so slow, then there were going to be several more waves, which would be annoying.

As searching for all the beasts one by one and solving the beast tide was far too annoying, Jiang Yun put it aside and decided to wait until the true wave arrived, which would be much easier to deal with.

As there was no way around it, Jiang Yun decided to kill the waves as they came. Looking towards the goat beast as well as the other beasts beside it, Jiang Yun decided to hunt some more meat.

Repeating the process, Jiang Yun crushed the beasts’ bodies and collected their corpses, as so much meat will take a long time to be completely used. Now with plenty of delicious meat, Jiang Yun’s annoyance at the possibility of multiple waves eased.

Then heading back inside, Jiang Yun waited for the rest of the beasts to come, as he wanted to end the beast tide as soon as possible.
