After Crossdressing and Provoking Long AoTian
Chapter 212.1: Extra 1 — Hua ShimiaoSuppose Hua Shimiao Accidentally Entered This World
After that great battle, the fissure in the Heavenly Dao closed. Peace returned to the Nine Provinces, and everyone enjoyed several quiet, harmonious days.
Ye Chenyan, the true protagonist of Young God-King: Unifying the Immortal Sects, written by Carefree Like a Dog, woke that morning with a strange, inexplicable feeling.
He immediately glanced warily to his side.
Someone was sleeping next to him.
He instinctively raised a hand, only to realize at once that the immortal and demonic energies within his body had been drastically reduced. It was almost as though, overnight, he had fallen all the way back to the state he'd been in before attaining immortality.
No.
On closer inspection, his power seemed to be suppressed by some force within this world.
Ye Chenyan's expression grew solemn.
As he tried to remember whether anything unusual had happened the day before, the person beside him rolled over, revealing their face.
It wasn't one of the peerless beauties he knew.
Still, the face was exquisitely refined, with a rare heroic air between the brows. In terms of sheer looks, it didn't lose out to any of the women in his harem.
Ye Chenyan's expression eased slightly.
"At least the face isn't bad."
Probably those people trying to sneak someone into his bed again...
His eyes narrowed, murderous intent stirring.
I wonder which scheming bastard is behind this one. I'll have Tianxin investigate and dig them out.
He hated duplicitous schemers more than anything.
He was just about to carefully avoid the person beside him and get out of bed when, as if sensing his movement, the other person groggily opened their eyes.
Their gazes met.
Ye Chenyan stiffened instinctively.
Yu Qingtang sleepily buried his face deeper into the blankets.
"Morning..."
The situation was so strange that Ye Chenyan didn't know how to respond for a moment.
Still looking somewhat bewildered, he propped his chin on one hand, raised a brow with interest, and replied, "...Morning?"
Then he glanced outside.
"The sun is already high in the sky."
Yu Qingtang mumbled into the blankets, "Not listening, not listening. Just a turtle chanting scriptures..."
Ye Chenyan: "..."
Who in the world had sent someone like this to crawl into his bed?
One smile and one sentence were enough to make it painfully obvious that this person wasn't particularly bright.
...He'd probably been tricked into coming here too.
Ye Chenyan looked at him with a faint trace of pity.
"You..."
Yu Qingtang struggled his way out of the nest of blankets.
The thin sheet slipped from his shoulders.
Ye Chenyan's gaze followed the graceful line of his neck and shoulders downward—
And froze.
"No, I can't sleep in today." Yu Qingtang yawned. "I almost forgot we have something important to do."
"We..."
He turned his head and found Ye Chenyan staring at him with an extraordinarily intense expression, almost as though he'd received some tremendous shock.
Yu Qingtang followed his gaze downward.
Ye Chenyan's eyes widened in disbelief.
"You... you..."
Yu Qingtang looked down at himself, then back at him.
Playing along, he dramatically yanked the blankets up to his chest and punched Ye Chenyan lightly.
"What are you looking at, pervert?"
Still mentally reeling, Ye Chenyan actually took the utterly harmless punch head-on.
His body swayed.
Yu Qingtang's eyes widened.
"Hey, hey, hey. What are you doing first thing in the morning? You're not trying to scam me, are you? It's not like I could actually hurt you."
"Just who..."
Ye Chenyan instinctively leaned back.
He stared at Yu Qingtang's face, searching his extraordinary memory until he finally found the relevant recollection.
...
Yu Qingtang lowered his gaze and suddenly noticed what Ye Chenyan was wearing.
With a strange expression, he tugged at the black robe embroidered in gold.
"When did you buy this? It's actually pretty nice."
Ye Chenyan narrowed his eyes.
"...This is your first time seeing it?"
"Mm."
Yu Qingtang answered casually, then got up and started putting on his own clothes.
"It just makes you look a little old."
Ye Chenyan ground his teeth almost imperceptibly.
"...What?"
"It fits your status pretty well."
Yu Qingtang wrestled with his belt while cheerfully spouting nonsense.
"Black and gold looks noble. It suits your status as master of this realm, but it doesn't really suit you."
He turned back and smiled at Ye Chenyan.
"I still think you look much better in short, fitted clothes with cuffed sleeves. Makes you look sharp and energetic."
"Besides, you'd have to change out of something like this before training anyway..."
Ye Chenyan fell silent for a moment.
Then he gave a quiet snort.
"But you said it suits my status."
"Now that you're master of this realm, of course things aren't the same as before."
Yu Qingtang thought that sounded strange.
It wasn't the sort of thing Ye Chenyan usually said.
He couldn't help turning around to study him more closely.
The closer he looked, the more differences he noticed.
Suspiciously, he leaned closer.
"Why'd you change your hairstyle too?"
Ye Chenyan chuckled softly.
He took the hopelessly tangled belt from Yu Qingtang's hands, lowered his head, and tied it for him.
"Felt like it, so I changed it."
He'd already noticed several inconsistencies and had formed a vague theory of his own.
Until he understood what was happening, however, he intended to keep playing along with the person in front of him rather than expose anything himself.
Yu Qingtang tilted his head at him.
"Tsk, tsk."
Ye Chenyan looked up.
"What?"
Amusement flickered through his eyes.
"Surely not everyone gets the privilege of having someone as exalted as—ahem—having me tie their belt for them, right?"
"True." Yu Qingtang nodded honestly. "Especially this badly."
Ye Chenyan: "..."
He closed his eyes and gave a faint smile.
Before he could say anything, Yu Qingtang grinned, grabbed his cheeks, and began squishing them back and forth.
"Are you mad?"
Ye Chenyan's expression became even stranger as his face was kneaded completely out of shape.
Yu Qingtang continued rubbing his cheeks while singing in a bizarre tune.
"What's the matter now, my sweet lady—"
Ye Chenyan: "..."
"You're a music cultivator, at least."
"Hm?"
Yu Qingtang blinked.
Ye Chenyan's brow twitched.
"Don't sing weird songs like that."
"Hah! You're already getting sick of me?"
Yu Qingtang flicked his forehead.
He completely failed to notice Ye Chenyan's gaze growing sharper.
Turning away and shaking his head, Yu Qingtang sighed theatrically.
"Getting pickier and pickier."
Ye Chenyan: "..."
Those words sounded strangely familiar.
He seemed to remember saying something similar to Li Ling'er before meeting Tu Jiaojiao.
His brows twitched faintly.
Ye Chenyan took a deep breath, then asked in a voice that trembled slightly,
"What... exactly is our relationship?"
"Huh?"
Yu Qingtang whipped around in surprise.
"You're asking me that now?"
He scratched his chin, looking a little embarrassed.
"What, are you trying to get me to say something sappy?"
Ye Chenyan's face went slightly pale.
"You..."
Yu Qingtang abruptly changed his tune.
"Actually, there's really nothing between us."
Ye Chenyan froze.
"Really?"
He visibly seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
"If you insist on defining it..."
Yu Qingtang put on an extremely sincere expression.
"Your dad, Carefree Like a Dog, calls me bro. So technically, you could call me Godfather."
"But Uncle is fine too."
"You!"
Ye Chenyan flew into a rage.
"You dare toy with me?!"
"Of course." Yu Qingtang raised his chin smugly. "What wouldn't I dare do?"
"I'm throwing my weight around and lording it over you!"
"Come on. Didn't we agree to eat in Central Province today? Scholar Xiao said their cafeteria has new dishes."
"And there's a new spectacle to watch."
He leaned close to Ye Chenyan's ear.
"Reliable sources say Linjiang Xian brought disciples to Four Books Academy and wants to spar with the Qin School..."
"Hehehe. You know what that means."
Ye Chenyan pretended to understand and nodded.
"All right."
His eyes gleamed.
Once he saw Scholar Xiao, perhaps he would finally be able to figure out what exactly was going on.
"But..."
Yu Qingtang looked at him worriedly.
"You really are acting kind of weird today. Don't tell me you're sick?"
"I..."
Ye Chenyan's eyes shifted quickly.
He pressed a hand to his forehead and lowered his voice.
"I do feel somewhat dizzy."
"And my thoughts are hazy. Some of my memories from before seem..."
"Huh?"
Yu Qingtang's expression immediately turned serious.
He straightened and narrowed his eyes at Ye Chenyan.
Ye Chenyan's heart sank.
This person hadn't seemed particularly clever a moment ago, so he'd casually thrown out an excuse.
Had he exposed himself?
If so, then he could only...
His fingers slowly curled into a fist.
He was just about to strike first when Yu Qingtang suddenly drew out an enlightened—
"Ohhh."
"So this is the game we're playing today?"
He tilted his head at Ye Chenyan as though he'd seen straight through everything.
"If you're playing the delicate little amnesiac, then what am I supposed to be?"
"The wicked brute who terrorizes men and women alike?"
"Or the devoted second male lead who's been waiting faithfully at your side all these years?"
Ye Chenyan stared at him numbly.
"...What?"
Yu Qingtang patted him earnestly on the shoulder.
"It's fine to fool around like this at home, but once we get to Four Books Academy, try to act a little more normal."
"Otherwise..."
His eyes suddenly lit up.
"You could turn into the giant dog and I'll walk you there!"
"What giant dog?!"
Ye Chenyan finally snapped.
"That's my demon totem manifested in physical form!"
"Got it, got it."
Yu Qingtang dismissed his protest and immediately started tugging at his clothes.
"But take these off before you transform. Otherwise you'll rip them."
"What are you doing?!"
Ye Chenyan grabbed his collar protectively.
"Hm?"
Yu Qingtang raised a brow.
"You want to act this part out too?"
"Okay, okay. I'll play along."
He cleared his throat, raised his wicked little claws, and flashed a brilliant grin.
"Little beauty, scream all you like. No one is coming to save you..."
Ye Chenyan demanded indignantly,
"What exactly is our relationship?!"
Yu Qingtang paused.
One hand was clutching Ye Chenyan's collar.
The other was gripping his belt.
He considered the question very seriously.
"An improper..."
"No, wait. I guess it's actually proper."
"A perfectly proper relationship between two men."
Ye Chenyan appeared to choke.
"Hehe."
Yu Qingtang gave him an awkwardly seductive wink.
"But right now, we're role-playing the improper kind."
"Come here, ba—"
Before he could finish saying baby, someone pushed open the door.
Yu Qingtang jumped.
"Huh? Someone really did come to rescue you?"
Ye Chenyan's bright, clear voice came from outside.
"Qingtang! You're awake?"
"Didn't you want to go watch the fun? I told Scholar Xiao to keep an eye on things. The disciples over there are about to start competing."
"If we leave now, we'll get there just in time to watch while we eat..."
He strode quickly into the room wearing a short, fitted top with cuffed sleeves.
The pitch-black demonic weapon was in his hand, and he clearly looked as though he'd only just finished practicing with his spear.
Fine beads of sweat still clung to his forehead.
His high ponytail swayed gently behind him.
Then he saw what was happening inside.
All three fell silent.
The black-robed Ye Chenyan—the genuine Long Aotian from the original novel—gave a low laugh.
He released the hand that had been blocking Yu Qingtang and leaned back in the chair.
"I see."
Yu Qingtang slowly released his grip.
He took two steps backward and stared blankly at the Ye Chenyan who had just entered.
A trembling finger pointed at him.
"You're Ye Chenyan."
Then he pointed the same trembling finger at the black-robed Ye Chenyan.
"Then who is he?"
After a second, he hastily added,
"Whatever he is, he's definitely not my side piece!"
Ye Chenyan gave a cold laugh and spun the spear in his hand.
"Who cares who he is?"
"He's about to be a dead man."
Neither one was willing to give an inch.
They blasted straight through the roof and shot into the air, immediately exchanging blows.
Yu Qingtang stared upward, dumbfounded, one hand still stretched toward them.
"No, wait..."
