After My Rebirth, My Husband Pampers Me Everyday!
Chapter 252: ALMOST GAVE UP"Limo—"
"Get out. Get out." Limo’s voice rose, sharp and final. "I don’t want to see you again. It’s over between us. Whatever happened, whatever you thought would happen, forget it. I don’t want to see you anymore. Let’s act like we never knew each other."
Moying’s fists clenched at his sides.
Just like that?
He was going to end it, just like that, without a single word of warning, without giving him a chance to explain himself.
"I really liked you." His voice shook, anger and hurt tangled together. "I know I didn’t try hard enough to win you over properly. But you never gave me a real chance either. What gives you the right to end this? What about me? Did you ever feel something for me? Even a little?"
Limo said nothing, jaw tight.
"You’re impossible to read." Moying’s voice cracked further. "You won’t tell me what’s on your mind, ever. I’m not a mind reader. I’m not God. How am I supposed to know what you’re thinking if you refuse to say it? Why do you get to decide to end something you never even let start?"
Limo’s eyes widened.
The words landed somewhere deep, uncomfortably close to everything Guiying had said to him less than an hour ago. His throat tightened, eyes stinging faintly.
"Why did you kiss her?" His voice came out smaller than he intended, raw around the edges. "I know I’ve been avoiding you, pushing you away. But did you have to move on so quickly?"
Moying’s anger stalled out completely.
"What?" He stared at him. "I didn’t kiss her. She kissed me."
"I saw it, Moying."
"Then you saw wrong, or you saw half of it." Moying dragged a hand through his hair, frustration bleeding into every word. "The second her mouth touched mine, I shoved her back. Ask anyone in that room, they’ll tell you the same thing."
Limo’s certainty wavered, though the hurt sitting behind his eyes didn’t fully retreat. "Why would she just kiss you out of nowhere?"
"I don’t know." Moying’s jaw tightened. "She said the mood felt right, whatever that means. But I noticed Xue Peng smirking at her right before it happened, so I wouldn’t put it past him to have said something to set it up. He’s been trying to get under my skin for days."
Silence stretched between them, heavy with everything neither of them had said until this exact moment.
"I didn’t move on." Moying’s voice dropped, quieter now, stripped of the anger from a minute ago. "I haven’t moved on from you since the day we met. That’s the entire problem, Limo. I can’t stop thinking about you, and you keep pushing me away like I’m something you can’t have or be with."
Limo’s throat worked, nothing coming out for a long moment.
"Do you want me?" Moying stepped closer, careful, testing whether the space between them would hold. "Just tell me that much. Forget everything else. Do you want me, or not?"
The question hung in the air, simple in its wording, impossible in its weight.
Limo thought of Guiying’s voice from an hour ago, insistent, unwilling to let him hide behind vague fears any longer. If you like him even a little, why are you throwing it away?
"Yes." The word came out before he’d fully decided to say it, quiet, almost startled by its own honesty. "I want you. I’ve wanted you since before I even understood what that meant."
Moying’s whole body seemed to loosen at that, tension bleeding out of his shoulders he hadn’t realized he was carrying.
"Then why—"
"Because I’m scared." Limo cut him off, finally meeting his eyes properly. "We’re both alphas. I don’t know how that works long-term. I don’t know what people will say, what our families will say. I think about a future with you, and it terrifies me, because I want things I’m not sure I’m allowed to have."
"Allowed by who?" Moying’s voice softened further. "Limo, no one gets to decide what we’re allowed to want except us."
"I know that." Limo pressed the heels of his hands against his eyes briefly. "But knowing it and believing it aren’t the same thing."
Moying closed the last of the distance between them, close enough now that Limo could feel the warmth radiating off him.
"Then let me help you believe it." His hand found Limo’s, gentle this time, giving him every chance to pull away again. "One day at a time. We don’t have to solve the entire future today. We just have to stop running from each other in the meantime."
Limo’s fingers curled around his, hesitant at first, then firmer.
"I’m sorry." His voice cracked slightly. "For avoiding you. For assuming the worst back there. For making you feel like something disposable."
Moying held his hand gently, kissing it gently. "You don’t have to apologize, I should have been more careful."
Limo smiled, he couldn’t believe how patient Moying was with him. If he was a little hot headed, their relationship would be over by now.
His eyes perked up, speaking of relationship, wrapping his hand around Moying’s "Will you be my boyfriend officially? I promise I’ll treat you better."
"No fair, you beat me to it." Cupping his face, Moying pulled Limo closer. "Can I kiss you? I’m so happy I’m about to burst.."
"Yes, yes you can."
Moying didn’t waste another second, closing the last inch between them, his mouth meeting Limo’s in a kiss that carried none of the hesitation from moments before.
Limo’s hand fisted lightly in the front of his shirt, pulling him closer instead of pulling away, every ounce of doubt from the past few days dissolving into something warm and certain.
When they finally broke apart, Moying rested his forehead against Limo’s, both of them breathing a little unevenly.
"I’ve missed doing that." Moying’s voice came out low, almost disbelieving. "I didn’t think you’d let me again so soon."
"I almost didn’t." Limo huffed out a small laugh, some of the tension from the last hour finally draining out of his shoulders. "You have no idea how close I came to walking away from this entirely."
