Chapter 253 - 154: War Order, a Resolute Will to Forge AheadChapter 253: Chapter 154: War Order, a Resolute Will to Forge Ahead
April 20, 14525, Star Realm Calendar.
The Winter Frost Sect Country launched an all-out attack on Bai Bing City. An avatar of Lady Frost descended, leading three Divine Envoys into battle against the two Councillors stationed there.
The two sides fought a major battle in the Dragon Rock Mountain Range, over three hundred kilometers from Bai Bing City.
In the end, two of the three Divine Envoys were killed in battle, and Lady Frost’s avatar was destroyed.
One of the current Councillors of the Dawn Council, Meng Hong, Patriarch of the Meng Family, died in battle.
Another current Councillor of the Dawn Council, Yi Nan, Deputy Commander of the Silver Light Legion, was gravely wounded and forced to flee.
On that same day, one of Lady Frost’s five Divine Envoys, the Extreme Ice Giant Yanik, led an army that breached the defenses of Bai Bing City. He sealed the spatial coordinates and engaged the defending legion in a grueling battle.
In just half a day, the defending legion was annihilated, and Bai Bing City fell completely.
The Free Mages suffered catastrophic casualties, fleeing in droves toward Red Maple City.
Also on that day, the Turin Army, which had been in a long standoff with Red Maple City, began to advance under the command of Dukes Snow Wolf and Blue Ice.
A great war was imminent!
...
Red Maple City.
The streets were nearly deserted. The few pedestrians who passed by all hurried along, their expressions grim and solemn.
SCREEE!
From time to time, squadrons of Giant Eagle Knights streaked across the sky, flying out of the city.
A tense atmosphere permeated all of Red Maple City.
As Pei Ze walked down the street, he looked at his surroundings, a wave of emotion washing over him.
Ever since Bai Bing City fell seven days ago and the Turin Army besieged Red Maple City, the entire War Fortress had looked like this.
To escape the war, many Free Mages had already left the Plane Battlefield.
The Free Mages who remained no longer dared to venture out on missions, choosing instead to hole up inside the city.
Pei Ze was, of course, no exception.
The wilderness outside the city was now like the gaping maw of a flesh-eating beast; one careless misstep, and you would be devoured, bones and all. Other than a few reckless fools who had no fear of death, almost no one dared risk venturing out, only to be surrounded and killed by the Turin Army.
The battlefield was now a stage for armies.
Lost in thought, Pei Ze soon arrived in front of a stone house.
Before he could step forward and knock, the door opened on its own.
Pei Ze entered as if he owned the place and saw Yin Xue standing in the foyer, gazing at him with a warm smile.
"Yin Xue," Pei Ze said with a smile, looking her over. "I’m relieved to see you’ve recovered so well."
A gentle look softened Yin Xue’s eyes as she spoke softly, "I heard everything from Yin Guang. It’s all thanks to you that I was able to recover so quickly."
"There’s no need for such formalities," Pei Ze said, waving his hand dismissively. "Besides, haven’t you helped me countless times before?"
Yin Xue smiled and led Pei Ze to the living room to sit down.
Once they were seated, Pei Ze got straight to the point. "You’ve heard about the fall of Bai Bing City, haven’t you?"
News that big was known by nearly everyone in Red Maple City, and Yin Xue was, of course, no exception.
She understood what Pei Ze was really asking. After a moment of contemplation, she said slowly, "According to the intel from my clan, the Meng Family’s losses were catastrophic. Their upper echelon was almost completely wiped out, and over eighty percent of their core combatants were killed. On top of that, they failed to secure the Silver Frost Disaster Wolf. After this, the Meng Family is likely headed for a complete downfall."
Yin Xue’s face was filled with sorrow.
As one of the five great Wizard Clans of Chenxi City, the Meng Family’s power had been at its zenith. Their Patriarch, Meng Hong, was even one of the top five Councillors in the Dawn Council.
Who could have imagined that a single battle would wipe out more than half of the Meng Family’s Wizard forces, directly leading to the clan’s downfall.
And after this, it would be nearly impossible for the Meng Family to ever reclaim its former glory.
The immense wealth and influence left vacant by the fall of a Wizard Clan would be enough to make many people covetous. They would never allow the original owners a chance to reclaim it.
Never mind the elemental factions—even clans from their own faction, like the Pei Family and the Yan Family, would never want to see that happen.
"One wrong step and you’re in the abyss."
Pei Ze sighed as well.
The Meng Family had gambled the fate of their entire clan, all for the sake of obtaining the Silver Frost Disaster Wolf.
Unfortunately, they lost.
’You could only call it bad luck.’
"But the Meng Family’s sacrifice wasn’t for nothing."
Yin Xue waved her hand over the coffee table, and two cups of steaming black tea instantly appeared on its surface.
She picked up a cup and took a sip before continuing:
"Although the Winter Frost Sect conquered Bai Bing City, they paid a heavy price. With Lady Frost’s avatar destroyed, her true body must have suffered a significant backlash. She probably won’t be able to take action for a very long time."
"As for her five Divine Envoys, one had already been killed by Councillor Ji Zhang. Now that two more have fallen, only two remain. Their power is a shadow of what it once was."
"It may seem like Red Maple City is now facing the Winter Frost Sect Country’s army alone, but in reality, the enemy has also suffered immense losses. Even if a full-scale war does break out, we don’t need to worry about losing."
"The Winter Frost Sect Country is the one that should be worried. They’ve already exhausted their nation’s strength, whereas Red Maple City can still receive a steady stream of support from Chenxi City and Red Lotus City. If we drag this out, as more resources and troops pour into Red Maple City, the scales of victory will only tip further in our favor."
Pei Ze nodded in understanding.
’It’s good to have a friend from a Wizard Clan,’ he thought. ’You get access to intel that ordinary Wizards would never know.’
"So, you plan on staying in Red Maple City?"
Yin Xue nodded slightly. "I’m a member of the Witch Hunting Team. It’s my duty to fight the Turin People, so of course I’m staying."
At this, she paused for a moment, then looked at Pei Ze and asked hesitantly, "What about you? What are your plans?"
