Alien Species Invasion? I Kill Them Back.

Chapter 27 - 25: Unleashing the Ultimate

Chapter 27: Chapter 25: Unleashing the Ultimate

"What the hell is going on?!" Zhou Diao roared at Fang Ye. "How is your buddy still talking when he’s dead?!"

Fang Ye seemed frozen in fear, staring motionlessly at the corpse on the ground.

Seeing this, Zhou Diao grew even more furious. He strode forward and kicked Fang Ye to the ground!

Although he had held back, Fang Ye still curled up in pain, crying, "It’s that monster! That monster... It, it can speak with a human voice..."

Feng Ling also asked Huangfu Miaomiao, who was beside her, "They can do that?"

The scene had left Huangfu Miaomiao’s face ashen. "I... I don’t know either..."

Although she was a player, she was an inexperienced one who didn’t know much about Pollution Bodies.

Feng Ling said, "Read your regional mission out loud for me again."

Huangfu Miaomiao opened her virtual screen and stammered, "In the d-depths of the pitch-black cave, the monster is famished... You will need excellent judgment and astounding courage... Silence is the prelude to death, light is the overture to victory. Overcome your fear, and you shall receive a handsome reward—Accept A-level Subjugation Mission?"

Feng Ling immediately said, "Accept."

Huangfu Miaomiao: "Huh... Huh? Huh?"

Seeing her dazed look, Feng Ling felt an urge to imitate Zhou Diao and kick someone. "Hurry up and accept it."

Huangfu Miaomiao quickly pressed confirm!

"I-I, I, I accept the A-level Subjugation Mission!"

A progress bar appeared in the mission area, showing the current mission progress: 0%

Huangfu Miaomiao’s feelings were hard to describe. ’An A-level Subjugation Mission... even a team of players would need at least five or six people. Most of the corpses in the cave must have been players. Can Feng Ling and I really do this?’

Then she thought of Feng Ling’s thrill-seeking personality, and she grew even more anxious.

’If Feng Ling dies here, where am I supposed to find a new protector? ...Actually, even if Feng Ling survives, there’s no way I can have a peaceful life following a Boss like her, right?’

’Maybe choosing Feng Ling was a mistake from the start...’

’No, no, no, no, I can’t think like that! Without Feng Ling, that fat guy would have tortured me to death! Or I’d have been caught by the Inspectors and sent to be experimented on! With tubes stuck all over my body!’

Huangfu Miaomiao’s face shifted from pale to ghastly as she was terrified by the images in her mind.

Feng Ling was completely unaware of Huangfu Miaomiao’s chaotic thoughts. Bone spurs extended from her shoulders, and two translucent Bone Blades rose high, ready for action.

Killing those bugs earlier had been completely unsatisfying, like eating a bowl of plain noodles in clear broth—bland and tasteless.

’This big one should be much more satisfying to kill, right?’

"Move!" Zhou Diao swiped a claw menacingly. "This is my stage! Everyone, back off! I’m about to unleash my ultimate!"

"Unleash an ultimate?" Feng Ling’s Bone Blades twitched on her shoulders as she sized Zhou Diao up curiously.

’How does he do that?’

Before her eyes, Zhou Diao’s shoulders and back expanded rapidly, his shirt ripping apart. Thick, long, silver-gray fur sprouted from his pores, and his entire head underwent a dramatic transformation—

His pupils turned gold, fangs grew in his mouth, and six beast-like ears tore through his skin. Suppressing a roar, he transformed into a............

Dog?

"See that?" Zhou Diao bared his teeth at Feng Ling proudly. "My Card, the Hellhound!"

Feng Ling: "..."

’Fine.’

’She had to admit the name was intimidating, but his appearance... didn’t quite match her image of a Hellhound.’

’A little ugly.’

’And a little small.’

Though two extra dog heads had sprouted from his back, their eyes were closed and they looked listless. It was hard to know what to make of it.

’He looked like an underdeveloped Werewolf.’

Feng Ling couldn’t help but glance at Huangfu Miaomiao.

’—If even a Demon is this pathetic, I guess it’s understandable for a Hellhound to look like this?’

Huangfu Miaomiao froze. Then, in a flash of insight, she understood the meaning behind Feng Ling’s glance and said indignantly, "High-level Cards have a lot of room for improvement!!!"

"That’s right!" Zhou Diao, for once, found himself agreeing with an Alien Species he deeply loathed.

Feng Ling, now caught between them, muttered, "Then go on and show me this improvement."

The skittering sound of crawling insects rose again, and everyone stopped talking, entering a combat stance.

They had expected the Pollution Body from above to reappear, but instead, bluish-black crawling insects swarmed them from all directions!

Zhou Diao was extremely agitated. He would rather fight the Pollution Body one-on-one than clean up these scurrying bugs.

"Everyone, back to the tunnel!"

With a great roar, Zhou Diao’s silver-gray fur bristled, and he plunged into the swarm, slaughtering everything in his path!

His strength and speed had taken a massive leap. The bugs were as fragile as paper under his Beast Claws, and he tore through three or four of the insect monsters in a matter of breaths.

Feng Ling guarded the other side, covering the retreat of the Special Attack Team members.

Her Bone Blades were slender and agile, with a wider range of control. She effortlessly sliced the lunging insect monsters in two.

"Damn it! The detector!" Qin Liang suddenly yelled.

An insect monster, seemingly drawn to the light, lunged toward the display screen with its glistening black mandibles wide open.

In his desperation, Qin Liang doubled back and snatched the precious detector, hugging it to his chest!

The monster’s mandibles pierced through his backpack and into his back. Qin Liang let out a muffled grunt of pain, but his hands desperately protected the detector, refusing to let go.

"Get moving!" Zhou Diao rushed over, grabbed the insect monster, and ripped it in two with his steel-like claws!

Foul-smelling, dark green goo spurted from its abdomen, drenching Qin Liang. He didn’t bother to wipe it off, just grabbed the detector and ran for his life down the tunnel!

Feng Ling remarked, "How considerate of you."

Zhou Diao stared at the remaining insect monsters with an exceptionally cold expression and said, "This is my stage. I won’t allow anyone to get hurt in front of me."

Feng Ling wanted to mock him for being so melodramatic.

But he said it in a low voice, not as if for others to hear, but more like a vow to himself. So, she lost the urge to make a snarky comment.

The glow sticks went out one by one, and darkness began to encroach upon them.

Zhou Diao’s visibility was shrinking, and he grew increasingly anxious.

The scale of the underground cavern was far greater than expected. The team urgently needed supplies and had to return to the surface as soon as possible.

Fortunately, the insect swarm had been mostly defeated. They successfully retreated into the tunnel, heading back the way they came.

The tunnel grew more and more rugged and difficult to traverse.

Feng Ling remembered there should be a protruding rock formation overhead on this path—one that a team member had bumped his head on—but after walking for a long time, she hadn’t seen it.

Just as she was feeling that something was wrong, she heard a bloodcurdling scream from Fang Ye at the front of the group!

"What’s going on?!" Zhou Diao was at the back of the team and couldn’t see what was happening up ahead.

Xiao Li said in an anxious tone, "This isn’t the right path! There’s a pit up ahead! Fang Ye and Old Cao fell in!"

"Shit!" Zhou Diao swore in anger.

"Help me! Help me!!!" Fang Ye screamed in terror!

Feng Ling squeezed past to get a look. The path was indeed wrong. It ended in a deep pit, at least seven or eight meters deep by her estimation. Fang Ye was bleeding from his head, and Cao Hongyi was in bad shape too, lying on the ground clutching his leg.

’Did he break it?’

Feng Ling was about to ask when Cao Hongyi seemed to notice something and suddenly raised his gun, firing at whatever was behind Fang Ye!

BANG!

The bullet hit Chao’s forehead!
