The frozen audit seal cracked before dawn, and every black line beneath the child’s bed answered with a pulse through the camp.
Didi stood over the foundation stone with five Shards turning slowly, while frost ran from her torn palm into the unfinished circle.
The child remained on the bed beneath her hood, with Elina seated beside her and both hands visible above the blanket.
Hajin kept his left hand open near the floor, refusing to touch the child’s forearm while Divine Eye followed the foreign pressure.
’The seal is opening, but the Collector is not the first thing through it, and whatever arrives first will determine the room’s next defense.’
Aria’s warning arrived before another shadow entered the room, then the foundation beneath the camp shuddered along a builderless line.
Juna moved between the widening crack and the bed while Loccy planted both feet against the nearest support, keeping the mattress above the shifting foundation.
The crack opened into black distance, though no air came through it and no light reached the frightened room beneath their feet.
Something struck the far side of that distance three times, with each impact losing more shape before the fourth finally broke through.
Cessy fell out of the incomplete crossing onto one knee, with one hand pressed against her stomach while blood darkened the stone.
Her material body was real enough to leave a red trail, though gray command lines crawled beneath her skin like writing under glass.
She tried to stand, failed, and caught the bed frame before her shoulder struck the floor beneath the child’s waiting blanket.
Hajin reached her first, while Juna kept one blade of sunlight aimed at the broken route behind Cessy’s back and guarded Elina’s open side.
"Do not close the crossing yet," Cessy said, gripping the frame. "Lucan is behind me, and the pursuit line is attached."
Vella entered through the doorway with gold gathered around her fingers, then crouched beside Cessy without touching the black lines.
"Tell me which marks belong to your body," Vella said, "while I leave every command branch outside the treatment path."
Cessy attempted a laugh, though it broke into a dry cough that left a bright line of blood across her lower lip.
"The red branches are injuries, while the gray branches are punishment orders written through my flesh."
Vella held one gold thread above the nearest wound, then waited until Cessy gave a tired nod beneath the room’s shaking light.
The healer entered the first safe branch, sealed a tear beneath Cessy’s ribs, and withdrew before the foreign command crossed the treatment path.

Hajin saw the panel while Vella kept her gold outside the dangerous line, and the restraint made Cessy’s warning feel heavier.
"She can keep the injury from spreading," he told Cessy, "though the authority written into the other branches remains attached."
"I know," Cessy replied, breathing through the next wave. "That is why I crossed through a broken route instead of waiting below."
The black line behind her tightened, and the unfinished crossing pulled at the portion of her body still connected to the Underworld.
Cessy’s fingers dug into the bed frame while another command branch brightened beneath her ribs, searching for a path toward the child’s protected core.
Vella withdrew before the branch reached the connected portion of Cessy’s core, then shifted gold toward the next red wound.
"That line enters your crossing portion," Vella said, "so following it would make my Spirit Ring part of the punishment route."
"Good," Cessy answered, then looked toward Hajin with one eye half closed. "Keep her outside the order."
Hajin opened four Rings, then formed Aegis across the bed, leaving the Sanctuary’s space clear beneath the golden barrier while foreign pressure struck his chest.
The pressure struck his chest, dragged his boots several inches across the floor, and made the old Resonance Wound burn through his shoulder.
Juna closed one hand around the back of his coat, while her four Wings opened against the room’s shaking walls.
"Lean on me for one breath," she said, bracing her shoulder against his. "Use the next breath for the actual problem."
"That is an unfairly efficient instruction," Hajin replied, keeping his feet beneath the load.
"I have watched you ignore worse advice for months," Juna answered, without releasing his coat.
The Stream caught the broken crossing before Aria narrowed the public view, and the first comments arrived beneath the shaking room.

Loccy drove her palms into the foundation support while Ferra shoved ceramic wedges beneath the splitting stone and checked each gauge for a second route.
"The route is not opening from the seal beneath the bed," Ferra said, watching her gauges. "It is using Cessy’s body as the torn edge."
"Then the seal has recognized her report," Hajin replied, tightening Aegis while black pressure crawled along the floor.
Cessy turned her face toward the child, though the girl remained silent beneath her hood while Elina kept one hand near the blanket.
"The Collector did not send me," Cessy said. "I ran before the correction could finish writing my body into its record."
Didi’s frost climbed the completed portion of the audit circle, holding its jurisdiction away from the bed’s protected foundation while black writing searched for a new surface.
"You entered a room while carrying an active order," Didi said. "Give me one reason to trust the route behind you."
"The route behind me is not safe," Cessy answered. "I arrived with a wound it could not close."
The response satisfied Didi only enough for her frost to remain steady, while Vella sealed another wound beneath Cessy’s collarbone.
The pursuit line struck Aegis from behind Cessy, and the golden barrier bent inward toward the bed while the child remained motionless beneath her hood.
Hajin caught the pressure with four Rings while Juna cut the black edge before it reached Cessy’s spine, then kept the severed line away from Vella’s hand.
The cut removed one command branch, though the wound beneath it continued bleeding without forming another foreign line while Vella watched the safe edge.
"That was a pursuit mark rather than the main crossing," Aria reported inside Hajin’s thoughts. "Another authorized body remains behind the opening."
Cessy heard the change in his breathing, and her expression tightened before she spoke the name waiting behind the route.
"Lucan followed after I broke his return order."
The incomplete crossing folded inward, dragging Cessy toward its center while the black distance narrowed around her back and tugged at the scar beneath her ribs.
Hajin caught her wrist with his empty left hand, and Vella kept every gold branch outside the punishment lines while refusing to make treatment another bridge.
"I am holding your body in this room," Hajin said. "I am not pulling you through the route."
Cessy stared at his hand around her wrist, then gave one exhausted nod while her breathing found a smaller rhythm.
"That difference is why I came here."
The black distance compressed around Cessy’s back, and a second voice reached the room through the narrowing gap while the bed’s foundation groaned beneath Didi’s frost.
"Cessy, release the human before the route turns his hand into evidence."
Lucan’s voice remained calm, though the punishment lines around Cessy’s ribs brightened when he spoke and his own route wound pulled open beneath the collar.
Juna shifted closer to Hajin, with her shoulder touching his arm while the four Wings held the ceiling above them.
"Your friend sounds unpleasant," she said.
"He would object to that word," Cessy replied. "He would still make the same threat if it kept everyone alive."
The pursuit line struck again from below, and the incomplete route folded around the last open space behind Cessy while Didi held the completed glyph.
Hajin tightened his grip without pulling, while Didi held the frozen seal and Loccy kept the bed’s foundation from shifting.
The final black mark began writing itself beneath the frost, with Cessy caught between two authorities and one room that refused to become a doorway for either side.
[ Audit Seal Inscription: 1 Glyph Remaining ]
Vella held the safe branches, Didi held the warrant, and Juna held Hajin’s coat while the city waited for Lucan to choose his entrance.
The next body would decide which side of the broken route it entered while the camp held its breath around the unfinished warrant.
