The young man thought for a bit before he went back to his bedroom and then he cuddled his wife to sleep. In the morning he went to drop the eldest to the school, then he went back home and found the twins building something with the blocks. After a few minutes, he got them some breakfast, and found that Snow had also left the home,she did leave him a note telling she might come back late tonight. Leo sighed, and after helping the twins with their routine wash up and massage, he tucked them in for a short nap. They had not yet grown up enough to walk around much and sleeping would allow their body to digest better and direct the nutrients to the brain.
In the meantime, he called the High priest, now that the old monk had become a representative of the council, he was asked to stay in touch with Leo and the cabinet all the time, although, people would still not disturb him just because they want to, he was still on call. The call connected quickly, Leo asked, "Your Grace, I apologize for disturbing you, but may I ask you if the evolution map has been completed?"
Old Hank chuckled and replied, "I knew you would be calling me about it but we were just talking about it yesterday."
Leo chuckled and replied, "Well, I didn’t realize that my thoughts would lead me to your steps this quickly. After getting a little closer to the real thing I just want to try it again."
Hank nodded and replied calmly, "Her Holiness would be done with this by the evening, so I will send you the first three steps then and the rest of it in the morning, but Mister Cardinal, can you not pass this on to the others apart from your family?"
Leo replied, "You have my word on the secrecy, Your Grace."
Hank nodded and after a bit the call was disconnected, Leo leaned back in the couch and his fingers began to tap the armrest of the furniture beside him. He thought how he should go about the practice and gain better results, thinking about it, he smiled and thought, ’I can use the system virtual space to explore the right directions and then gradually move to perfect it.’
Indeed, the system had given him the virtual training space, and most of his skills have been tested in that space only, they were sharp skills and to achieve a better result he had always been using it, so why not now?
The rest of the day became pretty much generic, Leo played with the twins and then went on to pick up Lily on his bike, yes, he rode his bike, and with a safety tether he secured Lily to his back, and the two people rode back to the mansion again. Lily was excited by the bike ride the whole way and as soon as they got off, she kissed Leo on the cheek as she said, "I know you did this to reward me."
Leo raised his brow and asked, "What did you do, little goblin?"
Although his tone was interrogatory, his eyes were filled with doting love for his daughter. Lily giggled and while scratching the back of her head she spoke in a coy tone, "Well, I complained about the overtime workers to aunt Percie and then had uncle Rama scold them. The situation is now under control."
Leo sighed and replied, "Okay, fine. Go change your clothes."
He shook his head as he watched her skip away while humming the tune, the rest of the day was fine, in the evening, Clara came to thank him when he was flying a kit with the children in the garden. The lady bowed and said, "Sir, the serum was delivered to my parents and it has been administered to them by the technician. There was some hitch in the vital sign changing but the technician told me that it is going well, and they would be able to resume their normal life from tomorrow, after resting for the night."
Leo nodded with a faint smile and replied, "It is fine, Miss Rouge, no need to thank me, you paid for the serum in full, so it is a business transaction."
The lady nodded, and then left the garden to process the ingredients for the dinner. Lily took over the string from Leo and began to show off to her siblings, who chuckled and cheered for her. Their hands were not yet strong enough to hold down the weight of the kite. Although they got to touch the strong when Leo held them in his arms, but that was a brief experience. Beta was standing at the side, she was clicking pictures of the four of them, and after some thought, Leo asked her to call Snow, and show her the scene on video call.
Although the lady felt bad for missing out, she was happy that her family has not forgotten her when they were enjoying things. It was not that she didn’t want to come, but the responsibilities that she had taken on for the betterment of the nation and the family they demanded some sacrifice and this was one of those things.
Leo understood all this, from now on, he would also have to participate in the meetings and daily workings of ISC, and the twins will be left behind under the care of the bots. Alpha and Beta were based on the system’s given tech so they were fine, but Leo was rather worried if the children will grow too used to their absence so he made a point that the ISC agreed upon, they all wanted would take a day off to connect and spend time with the family.
In the night, Snow came back late, and Leo served her hot soup and food, which made her feel relaxed from the fatigue, he also massaged her feet and then cuddled her to sleep. In his mind however, the virtual space was formed and he was studying the effects of the evolution map. There was a sensation in his virtual body that he could not figure out, but upon constant introspection and correspondence of the notes from the High priest and his own high level cognitive functions allowed him to create a map of his body.
It was not microscopic but he could sense the flow of blood and the activities of his organs. He didn’t move ahead, but focused more on the visualization of the internal working of the body. Thinking on how to refine it even more. He began to focus his concentration on the blood flowing through his veins, as the focus heightened, the model improved but by the time his time limit for using the virtual simulation space came to an end, it didn’t reach the peak that he envisioned it to.

Outside the space, Leo frowned, he was still holding onto Snow, but his sleep was gone, he opened his eyes and stared the dark void ahead of him, before taking a deep breath and closing his eyes to try one more time and find out if he can manage to refine the model even more. The first thing he focused on was the sensation of breathing, how the air flowed inside his nasal cavity and then through the windpipe it reached his lungs, after several minutes, he could corroborate the sensation to create a model of his lungs and windpipe in his mind palace.
Then the procedure continued, however, the situation was not looking as smooth as it was in the virtual simulation system. The laws of the real world tested the patience of a person to an even greater limit. By the time the sun came up, Leo had only managed to find the blood channel in his mind. However, the channels were incomplete. He sighed, and closed his eyes, for the first time in a long time, he was tired, and he closed his eyes, falling asleep almost instantly.
When Snow woke up, she was surprised to find Leo beside her, it had been an year since the young man had stayed in the bed for this long. Thinking about it, she moved out of his embrace as slowly as possible, and just when she was about to head to the washroom, she found a small head peeking in the room from the gap in the door. Snow smiled and beckoned Lily to come over but made a gesture for her to stay quiet.
Lily was also surprised when she found Leo sleeping soundly, and approached her mother as she whispered, "Is Baba alright?"
Snow smiled and said, "Yes, he is fine, don’t worry, I will go and take a bath, how about you keep watch on him?"
It would be a lie to say that she was not anxious at all, after all, whenever she finds Leo laying in bed, the trauma from the past could not be suppressed down. Although he has recovered and the family has moved on, but somethings cannot be forgotten that easily.
Lily undid her running shoes, and came up to sit beside Leo, then she watched over him with her complete attention. She raised her hand and used her communicator to apply for a leave with her class teacher, and got a quick approval, well, Young Miss Cardinal was an epitome student, she had never taken any unnecessary leaves, and submits her homework like everyone else on time, never flexes her status, and leads the class like a tight ship, the rest of the people also worked well when she stood at the podium.
So, the teacher was fine with her taking a day to relax as she cited some exhaustion from the recently hectic schedule. Then she laid down next to Leo, who sensing a little soft creature placed his hand on hers and held it gently.
