Chapter 613: Chapter 613 - The threads are already weaving together

Alpha Vladimir had called a meeting with the pack leaders after ending his call with Voren.

Kael, Damon, and a few of the elders sat together at the shaman’s cave, the flickering firelight casting dancing shadows across their weathered faces.

The cave was warm despite the chill outside, the air thick with the scent of herbs and ancient incense.

"Voren will be here tomorrow evening." Vladimir’s voice carried the weight of command, his gaze sweeping across the assembled group. "Kael, you know what to do." He turned to the young beta, his eyes sharp with expectation.

"And Damon, I’m glad you transferred your knowledge from the Centenary pack. Put the pack in order and give them hope that the Alpha, Luna, Co-Alpha, and Co-Lunas will be arriving soon."

Kael smiled, his excitement barely contained. "The pack has a surprise. I’ll help them start working on it." His expression flickered with concern. "I just hope it doesn’t snow tomorrow, or everything will be ruined."

"Whatever surprise you are planning, you have to know that it should be for a new beginning." The shaman’s voice was a low, melodic murmur, her ancient eyes glinting with hidden knowledge though she looked younger than her age.

Kael laughed, the sound echoing off the cave walls. "Shaman, we have lived without a Luna by Alpha Voren’s side for almost a decade. Everyone is aware of the changes. We know what this means for the pack."

"Don’t forget that there are going to be two Lunas," the shaman reminded them, her voice dropping to a mysterious whisper. "Though I foresee a great change. I can’t tell anyone because I don’t know how that is going to happen." She paused, her gaze growing distant. "However, it’s written in both Voren and Seraphine’s destinies. The threads are already weaving together."

Vladimir frowned, hating the suspense that hung in the air like a physical weight. "You can tell me." His voice was firm, demanding. "No pack has ever had a co-Alpha and co-Luna. I think the Centenary pack was the first to crown a co-Luna, and everything backfired."

He leaned forward, his eyes boring into the shaman’s. "Tell me, will the princess be trouble?"

In Ravyn’s case, things had been different because Daisy was his mistress. But in Seraphine’s case, Liah wasn’t. She was Corvine’s supposed partner. Vladimir didn’t expect trouble, but he needed certainty.

The shaman laughed, a soft, knowing sound that didn’t reach her eyes. "You have a smart way of getting information, Alpha Vladimir." She shook her head slowly.

"But sorry, you aren’t getting it from me." Her expression turned serious, her voice dropping to barely above a whisper. "A week and a few days from now will be the coronation of a new Alpha King and Luna Queen. But I don’t see any of the candidates wearing that crown."

This time, everyone was disturbed. Vladimir knew how important the crown meant for Voren, for their pack, for the future they were all desperately trying to build. If none of the candidates would wear it, then it meant Corvine wasn’t getting it too.

"Why so?" Vladimir’s voice was tight with barely controlled anxiety. "There should be a way for the crown to get to Corvine. It’s the only way we can have it here. It’s the only way to secure our future."

The shaman smiled, but it was faint, tinged with sorrow. "I see Corvine wearing it for exactly one minute." She held up a single finger. "No more."

Now fear sat in the chest of everyone present, cold and heavy. "Are you saying that Corvine is going to die after wearing the crown?" Vladimir’s voice cracked, his hands gripping the arms of his chair.

The shaman only smiled, her expression unreadable. "There is more to Corvine and the princess. Much more. But we have to focus on Luna Oriana." She quickly changed the topic, her eyes darting away from Vladimir’s desperate gaze.

They knew it was the end of the discussion concerning the crown. The shaman would not be moved, would not reveal any more secrets. But how was Corvine going to wear the crown for just a minute?

The thought brought them too much discomfort, gnawing at their minds like a persistent ache. They decided, silently and unanimously, to not tell anyone about it.

"Everything we discussed remains here." Vladimir’s voice was heavy with finality. "Not a word to anyone."

Everyone nodded in agreement, their expressions grim, before leaving the shaman’s cave. The cold night air hit them like a wall, but none of them felt it.

Damon was not surprised by the excitement of the pack members. When he arrived, they had received him warmly, far better than he ever expected. His few days at the Grimroot pack had been completely different from the Centenary pack, where tension and suspicion had been the currency of the day. Here, there was hope, and warmth.

Due to the surprise they had for the highest leaders, training was cancelled as everyone got to work. The pack members moved with purpose, their excitement palpable, their anticipation building like a storm.

Due to time difference, it was just sundown when the chopper landed at the Grimroot pack. The family had to stop at an airport to swap from the private jet to the helicopter, the transition smooth but tiring.

The children were restless, their small bodies bouncing with barely contained energy.

However, the sight beneath them as the chopper descended was the most beautiful any of them had ever seen. The pack stretched out below, a sea of twinkling lights and warm fires, but it was what surrounded the landing zone that stole their breath.

"Mommy, what’s going on?" Espe asked, her eyes wide as she pressed her face against the window, her small hands leaving smudges on the glass.

Bryan pressed in beside her, his nose flattening against the window too. Liah and Corvine had never been to the Grimroot pack, so they didn’t know what to expect.

But Seraphine was equally confused. This was the first time she had also seen something like this. She looked at Jasmine, whose bewildered expression mirrored her own. Everything was new to her as well.

So Seraphine turned to Voren to see that he was also equally engrossed in what was happening. His face was illuminated by the fluctuating lights below, his expression unreadable.

"V, are you aware of this?" she asked expectantly as the chopper continued its descent, her voice a mixture of wonder and confusion. She watched his profile, waiting for an explanation, for some hint of what was unfolding beneath them.

But Voren’s response brought tears to her eyes.
