Alpha's Secret Bride

Chapter 269: A Table of Forgiveness

Lunara opened her eyes and almost screamed when they got into the house. The entire house was decorated with flowers and Theresa’s enlarged pictures. Tears clouded her eyes immediately. Emma laughed.

’In loving memory of Luna Theresa Greens,’ was written on some decorative paper and hung in different places.

Emma’s love for Theresa is so organic. Even after everything they did to her, she still loves her.

"Lunara please come with me. You need to bathe, rest and get ready for dinner. I invited some of our neighbors," Emma said, and took her hand. They climbed the stairs silently. Lunara was so emotional and she could not say anything. Emma led her to one of the guest chambers.

"What is his name again?" She smiled and Lunara smiled too.

"Gregory Alex Darkmore," she responded. Emma slowly sat on the bed to get the full story and laughed.

"Are you guys getting mated?" She asked.

"We haven’t talked about matebond," Lunara responded.

"If he proposes to you, would you say yes?" She asked.

"He is kind and I like him ...I think I would."

"Where did you meet him?" She asked, adjusting to a more comfortable position. Lunara laughed.

"Don’t worry, I’ll give you the full story tomorrow."

"Alright, I’ll call you when it’s time for dinner. I also invited some newsmen. I hope you’re okay with it."

"Yes, I am."

"Alright," Emma said and left the chamber. She hasn’t changed at all. She is still the inquisitive Emma that she grew up with. She smiled as soon as she left the chamber. Ten minutes later, Naomi led Gregory to the chamber.

They relaxed on the bed after a long bath. She crouched on Gregory’s chest. There was a long silence in the chamber.

"Your sibling’s mate is such a cute guy," Gregory said.

Lunara smiled faintly. "He’s handsome, but my sibling is even more beautiful. More importantly, he treats her the way she deserves to be treated."

Greg nodded. "I can see that. The way he looks at her tells me everything. He loves her, and he isn’t afraid to show it."

Lunara smiled softly. "He always looks at her like she’s the only woman in the world. After everything she’s been through, I’m happy she finally found a man who loves her without holding anything back."

She got down from bed to admire the environment again before dinner.

"Scarlet, you need to take a short nap before that time," Gregory said, pulling her back to bed.

He sat up and walked to a tabletop fridge that was kept on a small stainless table. There were a lot of fruits and vegetables for them. They ate quite a few and went back to bed. Soon they slept off.

They woke up and glanced at the wall clock. It was almost time for dinner. The one hour, thirty minutes rest helped her a lot. She stood up slowly and walked to the bathchamber. Greg and she dressed up for dinner. They walked down the stairs and found their way to the garden. Sitting outside on a comfortable swing, they watched the moonset sink perfectly into the earth in a blaze of gorgeous blue and silver! They kept smiling as they fixed their eyes on the sky.

Willow and Novira returned a few minutes later.

"Dinner is ready," Willow said with a warm smile. "Everyone is waiting in the feeding chamber."

Novira nodded. "The cook just finished serving."

Scarlet looked at Gregory, and he reached for her hand without saying a word.

"Come on," he said. "Let’s not keep them waiting."

They stepped off the swing together and walked toward the main family’s feeding chamber. Their fingers remained intertwined as they crossed the wide hallway.

The moment Scarlet entered, she slowed to a stop.

The feeding chamber was enormous. A crystal chandelier sparkled overhead, casting a soft glow across the chamber. Beautiful wall art decorated the stone walls, and the elegant furnishings made the space feel warm despite its size. At the far end of the chamber, Theresa’s enlarged portrait still hung proudly on the wall.

Scarlet’s eyes lingered on it for a moment.

"They still have her picture here," he murmured.

"Emma said she wanted Theresa to always have a place with the family."

Gregory followed her gaze and gave a small nod.

She swallowed quietly before looking away.

As soon as they walked inside, everyone except Emma and Brandon rose from their seats.

"Welcome home," they greeted together.

Scarlet blinked in surprise before a bright smile spread across her face.

She recognized several of them immediately.

They were the same neighbors whose angry pups had once smashed the windows of her house and left deep scratches across every car in her garage after Lunara and her family committed that offense. Instead of correcting them, the mothers had stood by and encouraged the destruction. Some even laughed as they watched their pups run through the neighborhood, making it clear they approved of what was happening.

One of the women laughed as she caught Scarlet staring.

"You remember us, don’t you?"

Scarlet couldn’t help laughing.

"How could I forget? Your pups nearly gave me a heart attack."

Another woman covered her face with embarrassment.

"They’re much better now."

"That’s because they’re angry," another woman said with a smirk. "Don’t act like you don’t know why they did it."

"Please," Emma said with a grin, motioning toward the table. "Let’s eat before the food gets cold."

Gregory pulled out a chair for Scarlet.

"Thank you," she said as she sat beside him.

He smiled and took the seat next to her.

At the head of the table, Emma shifted slightly in her chair before placing a hand against her lower back.

"My back is acting up again," she muttered.

Brandon immediately turned toward her.

"Come here."

Without hesitation, he slid his chair closer and gently rubbed the small of her back.

"Better?"

"A little."

He frowned playfully.

"Our little pup is already giving his mother trouble."

Emma rolled her eyes.

"Or maybe his father keeps making me walk around the estate."

"I was encouraging exercise."

"You were showing off your gardens."

The chamber burst into laughter.

Brandon leaned closer and kissed her forehead.

"You still loved every minute of it."

Emma smiled despite herself.

"I did."

He kept gently massaging her back while she rested comfortably against her chair.

Several people around the table watched them with quiet smiles.

One of the older women whispered to another, "After all these months, they still act like newly mated couple."

The other nodded with a grin.

"And I don’t think that’s ever going to change."

Scarlet glanced at Gregory before looking back at Brandon and Emma. A smile slowly found its way onto her face as the warmth around the table settled into her heart.

Thereafter, they were served their local drinks. Greg loved the taste of the drinks even though he was tasting them for the first time.

"Welcome to our humble home, Gregory Darkmore," Brandon said. He grinned and fixed his gaze back on the foreign dishes on the table. He could not wait to have a taste of each.

Elara and Bernard joined them later. Elara screamed as soon as she saw her. She ran towards her and they hugged themselves.

"Queen Luna, you did not tell me she was coming!" Elara shouted in a dramatic way.

"I want her presence to be a surprise," she grinned. Bernard and Elara joined them at the dining table and the celebration began. The reporters commenced their work immediately.

As usual, Brandon was the one that fed Emma and upon that, she was making a pathetic face, demanding and Brandon didn’t complain at all, rather he made sure her needs were taken care of. Indeed, he loves Emma so much and can never ask for anything but Emma.

When the three-course meal was over, Emma stood up and began to emphasize the importance of living in peace and harmony.

According to her, peace and harmony are long-lasting values they must all embrace.

"As we remember our mother who passed away a few months ago, I was to use this opportunity to apologize to all the people I offended. I also want to apologize to my sibling for everything I did and said to her.

Lunara Greens, please forgive me," Emma said. Lunara stood up, walked towards her and they held each other. The emotional moment was quite intense and everywhere remained calm as they bathed themselves with tears.

"Emma, I should be the one asking for forgiveness. I hurt you so much."

She lowered her gaze, and fresh tears spilled down her cheeks as her sobs grew harder.

"It’s okay," she felt Gregory’s hands on her shoulder as he tried to separate them. He led her back to her chair and the reconciliation continued.

"If you are here and you still hold a grudge against anyone, I want to use this opportunity to ask you to forgive. If you have the person’s number, please call him or her and humbly ask for forgiveness. If a wolf has been asking you for forgiveness, please seize this opportunity, call the person, and forgive," Emma said and sat down.

All the people in the dining hall began to call their enemies and moonallies. They couldn’t stop laughing. When she thought it was over, Gregory spoke.

"I’m happy to be part of this great event," he said, and all eyes moved in his direction.

"I have a man I tagged as my permanent enemy. I said over my dead body, I would forgive him. He called me when his mate was sick and begged me to come and see her, but I refused to go. When his mate died, I did not go. His pups are my best allies. I love them, but the man and his late mate are my permanent enemies. I don’t know if I would ever forgive them," Gregory said. Everywhere became calm.

"Who is the person?" Brandon asked.

"My stepfather and my late mother," Gregory responded.

"What did he do?"

"My stepfather fell in love with his boss’s mate - my mother and my father severed their bond because of him."

"Oh, my moon goddess! Can you call him?" Emma asked. "Please."

"Alright," Gregory said, and Lunara became very happy. Emma quickly booted her high grade laptop.

"Please, call his number," she said, looking at the screen of the computer. Gregory began to call his stepfather’s device number. Lunara’s heart skipped when the device began to ring.
