Alpha's Secret Bride

Chapter 279: The Prince’s Homecoming

The healers continued working in silence after the pup was carried out. They delivered the placenta, checked carefully for any bleeding, and stitched the incision one layer at a time.

"Her vitals are stable," the chief healer said after another glance at the monitor. "The surgery was successful."

A quiet sigh of relief swept through the chamber.

Brandon closed his eyes for a moment as relief washed over him.

"You did it, Moonheart," he whispered, even though she couldn’t hear him. "You were incredible."

Once the healers were satisfied that Emma was stable, they carefully transferred her onto a recovery bed and wheeled her into a private recovery chamber.

The next few hours passed slowly.

A healer checked her blood pressure, pulse, and incision at regular intervals while another made sure she was recovering well from the anesthesia. Brandon never left her side. He sat beside the bed with Emma’s hand in his, watching her face for the slightest sign that she was waking.

The chamber remained quiet. Their moonallies and family stayed close, speaking in low voices as they waited for her to open her eyes.

A few hours later, Emma’s fingers twitched. Her eyelashes fluttered before her eyes slowly opened.

Brandon was on his feet in an instant.

"Moonheart," he said softly, giving her hand a gentle squeeze.

She slowly turned her head toward his voice. As her vision cleared, she saw Brandon smiling down at her. Around him stood their moonallies and family, each wearing the same look of relief.

The High Luna stepped forward, gently cradling the newborn pup in her arms.

A warm smile spread across her face. "My Queen Luna," she said softly, "he’s been waiting to meet his mother."

Emma’s face brightened. She had spent months carrying him, yet she still hadn’t seen his face. Her fingers curled in a silent request.

Without a word, the High Luna smiled again and carefully laid the tiny bundle on Emma’s chest.

She looked down at him, and a long, shaky breath escaped her. Tears welled in her eyes as she gently stroked his tiny cheek with one finger. "My little miracle," she whispered.

Her exhaustion was still there, but it was overshadowed by a joy she had never known. Everything felt almost unreal, as if she were living inside a beautiful dream.

She looked down at the tiny pup in her arms again, and a smile spread across her face. Life would never be the same again.

For so long, it had been just her and Brandon. Now their little family had grown. The tiny pup they had brought into the world had made them three.

She closed her eyes for a moment, still smiling. She wondered what the days ahead would be like—his first smile, his first steps, the sound of his laughter filling their home. The thought made her hold him a little closer.

Slowly, she lifted the pup and looked at him once more, unable to get enough of him. Every tiny feature made her smile. The precious little pumpkin in her arms was everything she had dreamed of and more.

Her family gathered around the bed, smiling as they admired him.

"I think he has Brandon’s nose," the High Luna said with a smile.

Emily laughed. "I don’t know. Those lips look just like Emma’s."

"It’s too early to tell," Elara said. "Right now, he looks like himself."

The chamber filled with playful guesses, but no one could agree. Little Bryan Oliver Frostbane was a perfect blend of both his parents, with a charm that was entirely his own.

Emma couldn’t take her eyes off him. She traced the curve of his tiny cheek with her fingertip, afraid that if she looked away, she might miss something. Her heart felt so full it almost hurt. She had spent months carrying him, imagining this moment, and now he was finally here in her arms.

Brandon leaned closer, his gaze settling on their prince. Little Bryan Oliver slept peacefully against Emma’s chest, completely unaware of the smiles surrounding him.

Emma looked up at Brandon.

Their eyes met, and neither of them spoke. They didn’t need to.

He smiled, cupped her face, and leaned in to kiss her. When he pulled away, his eyes were bright with happiness.

"Thank you," he whispered. "For giving us our pup."

"And thank you for choosing me to be the mother of our pup," Emma said softly.

Brandon smiled and rested his forehead against hers.

"No, Moonheart. Thank you... for choosing this life with me. For fighting so hard. You gave me the greatest gift I’ve ever received."

He glanced down at the sleeping pup and gently brushed a finger across his tiny hand.

"We have our first pup now. Our little family is getting bigger."

The next few days passed peacefully at the healing den.

One moonrise, the chief healer stopped by to examine Emma. She gently pulled back the blanket and checked the incision before helping her sit up.

"How’s the pain today?" she asked.

"Better than yesterday," she replied. "It still hurts when I move, but not as much."

The healer nodded. "Any dizziness? Fever? Trouble breathing?"

She shook her head.

"Good. Now let’s see you walk a little."

Brandon slipped an arm around Emma’s waist as she eased herself out of bed. She took a careful step, then another. By the time she reached the window, she was breathing a little harder, but a smile spread across her face.

"I made it," she said.

"You did," Brandon replied with a grin.

Each day became a little easier than the one before.

The healers examined Bryan Oliver several times a day, listening to his tiny heartbeat, checking his breathing and temperature, and weighing him before wrapping him back in his blanket. Every visit ended with the same reassuring smile.

"He’s doing beautifully."

Brandon hardly left the chamber. Whenever Emma closed her eyes to rest, the High Luna gently lifted Bryan Oliver from his bassinet. She changed his diaper, wrapped him snugly in a fresh blanket, and rocked him in her arms until he settled.

"Come here," she said one day, smiling at Brandon. "You’re his father. It’s time you learned."

She showed him how to support Bryan’s tiny head before placing the pup carefully in his arms.

"Like this?" Brandon asked.

The High Luna nodded. "Perfect."

A few moments later, Oliver relaxed against Brandon’s chest and drifted back to sleep.

The High Luna smiled. "He already feels safe with his father."

"You’ll get the hang of it," she said with an encouraging smile.

Brandon followed her instructions carefully. By the third day, his movements had grown more confident. One day when the high Luna was away, Oliver began to fuss. Before the healer could reach him, Brandon lifted him into his arms. The tiny pup settled almost at once.

The healer smiled. "Looks like he already knows his father’s touch."

"I think he already knows my voice," he said.

The High Luna visited every day from her resting den, bringing fresh flowers and sitting beside Emma’s bed. Sometimes she shared stories about raising Brandon. Other times, she simply held Bryan while Emma rested for a while.

Their families came in small groups, filling the chamber with laughter, gifts, and warm wishes before quietly slipping out again so mother and pup could sleep.

On the fifth moonrise, the chief healer returned for one last examination.

She checked Emma’s incision, then smiled with approval.

"Any pain when you walk now?"

"Just a little," Emma answered.

"How about when you cough or laugh?"

Emma smiled. "I try not to laugh too hard."

The healer chuckled before turning to Bryan Oliver. She listened to his heartbeat, checked his breathing, and weighed him one last time.

"He looks wonderful," she said as she wrapped him back up.

She looked at Brandon and Emma.

"You’re both doing very well. Continue taking it easy for the next few weeks. No heavy lifting, and get as much rest as you can. Since you’ll be traveling on a private jet with medical staff on board, I’m happy to clear both of you for the trip."

Brandon let out a quiet breath and smiled.

"Thank you."

The chief healer nodded before leaving them to finish packing.

Brandon turned to her.

"Ready to take our little prince home?"

Emma looked down at Bryan Oliver sleeping peacefully in her arms. She gently kissed his forehead before lifting her eyes to Brandon.

"I’ve been ready since the moment I first held him."

Later that moonrise, Emily returned to the healing den to begin her shift caring for Emma and little Bryan Oliver. Since his birth, she and the High Luna had taken turns looking after both mother and pup, making sure Emma had time to rest and recover.

By then, their luggage had already been loaded into the waiting royal motorcade. After saying their goodbyes to the healers, Emma, Brandon, Bryan Oliver, a few family members, and the medical team assigned to accompany them made their way outside.

A few minutes later, the motorcade pulled away from the healing den and headed for the royal private jet that would take them home.

The journey back to the estate was unlike any flight Brandon and Emma had taken before.

For the first time, they were not traveling as Alpha and Luna preparing for another royal duty. They were returning home as parents.

Inside the private royal aircraft, Emma sat comfortably with Bryan sleeping against her chest. Every few minutes, she looked down to make sure he was still breathing peacefully, her fingers gently brushing over his tiny hand.

Brandon noticed and smiled.

"You have checked on him at least twenty times since we left."

She looked up at him.

"I know. I just can’t believe he is really here."

He moved closer and looked at their pup.

"Neither can I."

During the flight, they learned the small things no one had prepared them for. Bryan would sleep peacefully one moment and suddenly wake up hungry the next. Emma quickly learned that her pup did not care about royal schedules or how tired they were.

When Bryan began stirring, Brandon immediately reached for the bag Emily had prepared before their departure.

"Is that everything?"

Emma smiled as he carefully searched through it.

"Emily packed enough things for a week."

"She knows us too well," Brandon replied.

While Emma fed Bryan, Brandon stayed beside her, making sure she had everything she needed. He handed her water, adjusted the blanket around her, and quietly watched as she learned her pup’s little habits.

The maids had little to do, as Brandon’s joy had him taking over their work.

Before they landed, Brandon held Bryan in his arms while Emma rested.

"He already has you wrapped around his little finger," she teased.

He looked down at their pup.

"He had me before he was even born."

When the aircraft finally landed at the estate, the entire entrance had been prepared for their arrival.

Mrs. Thompson stood with the royal maids and servants, all waiting respectfully as the royal couple stepped out. Unlike the grand celebrations held for the kingdom, this welcome was quiet and personal.

The moment Mrs. Thompson saw Brandon, her expression softened.

"Welcome home, My high Alpha King," she said.

Then she looked at the tiny pup in Brandon’s arms.

"And welcome home, little prince."

The maids smiled as they greeted Emma, but they quickly noticed that their attention was not only on the new prince. They surrounded Emma with the same care, taking her bags, preparing her favorite meals, and making sure her chamber was ready.

Mrs. Thompson personally led them to the nursery.

"Everything has been prepared," she said. "The healers gave us a list of what Bryan would need, High Luna Alexandra and Emily sent additional instructions."

Emma looked around the chamber filled with tiny clothes, soft blankets, and carefully arranged supplies.

"You all did this in such a short time?"

Mrs. Thompson smiled.

"A mansion can prepare for a prince, but a mother needs comfort."

She looked around the nursery one last time before her gaze settled on Bryan sleeping peacefully in Brandon’s arms.

A smile touched her lips.

They had finally come home.

Their greatest adventure was only just beginning.
