Chapter : 328

"Listen to me very carefully," Ken commanded. His voice echoed directly inside Niro's brain.

Niro’s eyes went completely wide. His pupils dilated. He stopped struggling against the chains. His entire body went totally rigid. The Authority magic locked onto his mind like a steel trap.

"You will never disturb your sister again," Ken ordered smoothly. The command drilled deep into the Grandmaster's subconscious. "You will never speak to her. You will never look at her. If you ever try to raise your hand against her, your own mind will paralyze your body. You will drop the letter you are holding right now. You will turn around, and you will leave this building immediately."

Niro could not fight it. His brilliant, highly trained mind was completely overwhelmed by the absolute power of the command. The magic permanently implanted the rule into his brain. It became an unbreakable law of his existence.

Niro’s fingers slowly uncurled. He lost his grip on the sealed envelope. The letter fell from his hand. It fluttered gently through the air. It landed softly on the wooden floorboards.

Ken lowered his hand. He snapped his fingers.

The pitch-black magical chains instantly dissolved into smoke. They vanished completely into thin air, leaving no trace behind. The wooden floorboards were perfectly intact again, as if they had never been broken.

Niro was free to move. But he did not attack. He did not summon his ice magic.

He stumbled backward, clutching his chest. He looked at Ken with pure, unadulterated horror. He was permanently scarred by the terrifying, reality-bending magic he had just experienced. He realized he was standing in the presence of a supreme entity. He realized he was nothing but an insect.

Niro spun around on his polished boots. He did not say a single word. He did not look back at Ira. He sprinted toward the door. He fled the bedroom in absolute terror. He ran down the long corridor as fast as his legs could carry him. He desperately wanted to escape the monster in the navy blue suit.

The master bedroom went completely quiet. The only sound was the distant noise of the city traffic through the open window.

Ken stood still for a moment. He let out a long, quiet breath. He allowed his shoulders to slouch forward. He shoved his hands back into his pockets. The terrifying, cold look left his eyes entirely. The lazy, sleepy slacker returned in a flash.

He looked down at the floor. He spotted the sealed envelope lying near his foot.

Ken casually bent over. He picked up the letter. He dusted it off on his pants. He turned around to face Ira.

Ira stood perfectly still. Her pale blue eyes were wide. She stared at Ken in total bewilderment. She had just watched the lazy boy summon impossible black chains and mentally break a Grandmaster in less than a minute. Her highly analytical brain could not process what she had just witnessed. It defied all statistical logic.

Ken gave her a massive, goofy, incredibly relaxed smile.

"Wow, that guy was really in a hurry," Ken joked loudly. He tossed the sealed envelope lightly into the air and caught it. "He just dropped this important letter and ran away! People are so clumsy these days. I guess he remembered he left the stove on at his mansion."

Ira stared at him. "Ken. What did you just do?"

"I asked him for directions to the bathroom, and he completely panicked," Ken lied smoothly. He waved his hand dismissively. "Some people just have terrible social anxiety. Anyway, look what I found!"

Ken held the envelope out toward her.

"This looks like the secret evidence Princess Iris was looking for," Ken announced happily. "We should probably go give it to her. I am getting really tired of standing in this room. And I still want that iced coffee."

Ira slowly reached out. She took the envelope from his hand. She looked at the sealed letter. She looked back at Ken's smiling face. She knew he was lying. She knew he was hiding a massive, incredible secret. But she also knew he had just saved her from her greatest trauma. He had protected her when no one else was there.

Ira's blank, emotionless face did not change. But she gave a very small, crisp nod.

"Thank you, Ken," Ira stated flatly. Her robotic voice held a tiny, barely noticeable trace of genuine gratitude.

"Anytime, Ira," Ken replied cheerfully. He turned around and started shuffling lazily toward the door. He dragged his shoes on the wood. Scuff. Scuff. Scuff. "Now, let us go find the others. I really hope Naomi did not eat all the strawberry candy while we were gone."

---

Sayma walked down the bright marble corridor. Her boots clicked against the spotless floor. She held a small magical recording crystal in her left hand. She held a sealed envelope in her right hand. She pushed her thick glasses up the bridge of her nose. Her face looked incredibly focused.

Princess Iris walked right beside her. The violet-eyed royal kept her back perfectly straight. She wore her dark blue uniform. She looked completely determined. She was ready to face the Upper Council.

Naomi walked a few steps behind them. She spun one of her silver daggers in her hand. She slid the blade back into its sheath. She smiled and nudged the person walking next to her.

"Stop dragging your feet, Ken," Naomi teased. Her voice sounded warm. She bumped her shoulder playfully against his arm. "You are ruining the polished floor. The janitors are going to yell at you."

Ken Eliot slouched his shoulders. He shoved his hands deep into his pockets. His navy blue suit looked wrinkled. His tie hung loosely around his neck. He let out a loud, dramatic sigh.

"I am conserving my energy," Ken complained. He looked at the incredibly long hallway. "This building is entirely too big. Walking from the front door to the council chamber is a massive workout. My legs need a vacation. I need a chair."

"You just woke up two hours ago," Laxmi laughed. The fire user walked on his other side. She tossed a tiny orange spark between her fingers. "You are the laziest person in the entire capital city."

"Sleep is very important for my health," Ken argued. He gave them a goofy grin.

Luna shuffled along behind Zinia. The lightning user rubbed her sleepy eyes. She let out a massive yawn. "I agree with Ken. This hallway is too bright. It hurts my eyes. I want to go back to my dark room."

Zinia chuckled. The strong earth mage patted Luna on the back. "We just need to present the evidence. Then we can all go home."

Suddenly, a bright voice called out from a side corridor.

"Wait! Stop right there!"

The team turned around. Elma jogged toward them. The blonde girl from the 16th Unit wore her spotless white and gold uniform. Her curls bounced as she moved. She held a small white paper bag in her hands.
