Chapter : 443

"Where are they?" Laxmi asked. She tossed a fireball into the air to light up the shadows. "I do not see anyone. Did they just throw a bomb and run away?"

"Stay alert," Sayma warned politely. Her eyes darted back and forth. "The attack came from directly ahead. The trajectory indicates a close-range strike. They must be here."

Suddenly, another blast of magical energy shot through the air.

It came from absolutely nowhere. There was no visible attacker. A streak of dark purple magic zipped through the empty space. It aimed straight for Princess Iris.

"Incoming!" Zinia roared.

Zinia stomped her foot on the ground. A thick wall of solid stone ripped out of the dirt. The rock wall blocked the purple magic. The blast exploded against the stone. Rocks splintered and flew across the road.

"They are invisible!" Naomi shouted. Her green eyes widened in shock. "They are using stealth camouflage!"

Sayma quickly analyzed the situation. Her intelligent mind processed the data instantly. "This is an elite ambush. These are not normal rogue soldiers. They are Ashura operatives. They use highly advanced camouflage techniques to blend perfectly with the environment. They are standing right in front of us, but we cannot see them."

"Ira, Luna, spread your attacks!" Princess Iris commanded. "Try to hit their general area!"

Luna pointed her fingers at the empty road. "Zap," she mumbled. Bright yellow lightning cracked across the path. The electricity struck the dirt. It did not hit any enemies.

Ira swung her water whips in a wide arc. The water slashed through the air. The whips hit nothing but empty space.

"Statistically speaking," Ira stated flatly. "Attacking an invisible, highly mobile target yields a zero percent success rate. We are completely disadvantaged."

The invisible Ashura operatives launched a synchronized strike formation. They moved with terrifying, flawless coordination. They surrounded the 13th Unit.

Multiple blasts of dark purple magic erupted from the empty air. The attacks came from the left, the right, and above. The invisible enemies fired a relentless, devastating bombardment. The magical blasts rained down on the girls.

"Emergency combat protocols!" Sayma yelled at the top of her lungs. She threw both of her hands forward. "Absolute Hexagon!"

A massive, brilliant golden honeycomb barrier snapped into place. The shield covered the entire group. The dark purple blasts slammed directly into the golden light. BAM! BAM! BAM!

The impact was absolutely massive. The sheer force shook the ground. Sayma gritted her teeth. She planted her boots on the dirt. She pushed her hands forward. She poured all her mana into the barrier. The golden shield flickered. It cracked slightly under the intense, continuous bombardment.

"I cannot hold this forever!" Sayma warned loudly. Sweat poured down her face. "Their magical output is massive! They are trying to crush our defenses!"

Naomi gripped her daggers. She felt a strong surge of frustration. "We cannot just stand here and take hits! We have to fight back! But I cannot cut what I cannot see!"

Laxmi threw a huge wave of orange fire at the cliffside. The fire washed over the rocks. It did not reveal any hidden enemies. The Ashura operatives were too fast. They dodged the flames completely unseen.

The 13th Unit was trapped in a highly dangerous, completely invisible crossfire. The situation looked entirely hopeless. They were stuck on a narrow mountain road. They could not run away. They could not fight back properly.

Ken Eliot watched the chaotic battle from the back of the group.

He had scrambled out of the carriage when the first explosion happened. He dusted off his navy blue suit pants. His white shirt hung completely untucked over his belt. He slouched his shoulders as far as they could go. He shoved his hands deep into his pockets.

He walked slowly across the dirt. He moved right behind Naomi. He used the fierce vanguard leader as a human shield.

"This is incredibly annoying," Ken complained loudly over the sound of the explosions. He peeked over Naomi's shoulder. "Invisible bad guys are the absolute worst. It is a completely unfair tactic. I cannot even tell them to go away. My vocal cords are entirely wasted on empty air."

Naomi did not look back at him. She kept her eyes focused on the golden barrier. "Stay behind me, Ken! Do not move! I will protect you!"

"I am not moving," Ken promised lazily. He pulled a small bag of potato chips from his pocket. He popped the bag open. "I am going to stand right here. Please make sure the explosions do not ruin my snacks. I only have one bag left."

Ken popped a potato chip into his mouth. He chewed it slowly. Crunch. Crunch.

He looked through the golden barrier. He looked at the empty mountain road. He did not feel scared. He did not feel panicked. He just felt a deep, pure annoyance.

The elite girls could not see the enemies. But Ken could see them perfectly.

His dark, sleepy eyes possessed an absolute, god-like vision. The advanced stealth camouflage meant absolutely nothing to him. The magic was totally useless against his sight.

He saw exactly six Ashura operatives. They wore dark gray tactical armor. They stood in a circle around the 13th Unit. Two operatives stood on a large rock on the left. Two stood on the dirt road in the front. Two stood on a small ledge on the right.

The operatives were preparing another massive, synchronized attack. They raised their hands. Dark purple magic gathered in their palms. They wanted to shatter Sayma's golden shield completely.

"If they break that shield, my team is going to get hurt," Ken thought to himself casually. He chewed his potato chip. "If my team gets hurt, they will be in a terrible mood all day. Naomi will yell about tactics. Sayma will read boring books to find a solution. I really do not want to listen to a strategy meeting tonight. I want to take a nap on a soft couch."

Ken knew he had to do something. He had to stop the invisible attackers.

But he absolutely could not reveal his true power. He could not summon a giant dragon. He could not throw a massive energy beam. If he did that, Princess Iris would know his secret. The girls would realize he was a god-like being. His lazy, peaceful life would be entirely destroyed forever.

He needed to fix the problem without doing any actual cardio. He needed a perfect, lazy, completely undetectable method.

Ken let out a long, dramatic sigh. He pulled his right hand out of his pocket. He kept his left hand in the chip bag. He slouched his shoulders even further. He prepared to use his most annoying, highly efficient combat trick.

---

The magical bombardment continued. Dark purple blasts smashed into the golden honeycomb barrier. Sayma pushed her glasses up. Her arms shook wildly. The golden light cracked louder.

"The shield is failing!" Sayma shouted politely but urgently. "Princess, we need an offensive countermeasure! The camouflage is too advanced! I cannot track their magical signatures!"

Princess Iris gripped her rapier. Her violet eyes searched the empty dirt road. "Hold the line, Sayma! Do not drop the barrier! Vanguard, prepare to strike blindly!"
