Laxmi leaped over the cracked stone wall. The fire user wore a fierce, excited grin. Her golden eyes sparkled with pure battle joy. She brought her hands together. Bright orange flames roared to life. She formed a huge, spinning ball of fire.
"Take this!" Laxmi yelled. She threw the massive fireball directly at the Lion King’s face.
The Lion King saw the fire coming. He pulled his club back. He swung the club upward. He smashed the fireball in mid-air. The flames exploded outward. Sparks rained down on the plaza. The heat washed over the area. The warlord pushed through the smoke. He did not stop his charge.
Sayma stood a few feet away. The intelligent Vice-Captain pushed her thick glasses up the bridge of her nose. She watched the warlord’s movements very carefully. Her analytical mind processed his speed and his angle of attack.
"His physical enhancement is still active," Sayma stated politely but firmly. "His defense is lowered, but his offensive power remains intense. We must synchronize our strikes. We cannot attack him one by one. We need a coordinated barrage."
Princess Iris raised her silver rapier. Her violet eyes were completely calm. She understood Sayma’s tactical advice instantly. "Vanguard, prepare for a synchronized assault! Do not let him regain his balance! Keep the pressure constant!"
Naomi heard the order. She dashed to the left side of the plaza. Green wind magic swirled rapidly around her combat boots. She moved like a red-haired blur. She held her twin silver daggers tight. She looked for a blind spot in the warlord’s defense.
Ira stood on the right side of the plaza. Her pale face showed zero emotion. She raised her hands gracefully. She drew moisture from the air. Two long, high-pressure water whips formed in her hands. The water cracked loudly like real leather.
Luna leaned against a broken stone pillar. The lightning user rubbed her sleepy eyes. She let out a massive, dramatic yawn. "He is very loud," Luna mumbled softly. "I will help stop him. I want the yelling to end." Yellow electricity sparked between her fingers.
Ken Eliot sat on a flat, broken piece of concrete near the very back of the plaza. He slouched his shoulders as far as they could possibly go. His navy blue suit pants were covered in gray dust. His white shirt hung completely untucked over his belt. He did not wear a tie. His black hair stuck up in messy, confused spikes.
He reached into his pocket. He pulled out a squished, half-empty bag of gummy worms. He looked inside the bag. He frowned.
"This is a total disaster," Ken complained lazily to himself. He pulled out a yellow gummy worm. "I only have yellow ones left. Yellow is the absolute worst flavor. It tastes like sour lemons. I really need to go to the grocery store. This battle is ruining my snack inventory."
Ken popped the yellow candy into his mouth. He chewed it very slowly. He made a sour face. He watched the massive battle unfolding in front of him. He looked completely bored. He did not feel scared. He did not feel worried. He just felt incredibly tired.

Naomi dashed past his hiding spot. She stopped for a brief second. She looked down at him. She did not yell at him. She did not scowl. She smiled a very warm, gentle smile.
"Stay right there, Ken," Naomi teased playfully. She bumped her shoulder against his arm. "Do not wander off. We are going to finish this fight. I will buy you better snacks later."
Ken gave her a big, goofy grin. "You are the absolute best, Naomi. I will stay right here. I am guarding this piece of concrete. It is a very important job. Be careful out there. The big guy looks very sweaty."
Naomi chuckled softly. She turned around and sprinted back into the fight.
The Lion King swung his club again. He aimed for Laxmi. Laxmi dodged backward. She threw two quick bursts of fire at his knees. The flames scorched his armor. He ignored the heat. He stepped forward to crush her.
"Now!" Sayma ordered clearly.
The 13th Unit launched their perfectly synchronized magical barrage. They attacked from every single direction at the exact same time.
Naomi dashed in from the left. She swung her silver daggers in a rapid flurry of strikes. She aimed for the small gaps in the warlord's thick armor. Her blades sparked against the metal. She moved so fast the Lion King could not swat her away. She distracted him completely.
Ira struck from the right. She whipped her arms forward. The high-pressure water lashes wrapped tightly around the Lion King's right arm. She pulled backward with all her might. She locked his arm in place. He roared in frustration and tried to yank his arm free.
Luna pointed her fingers at the wet water whips. "Zap," Luna mumbled sleepily.
A brilliant bolt of yellow lightning shot across the plaza. The electricity traveled straight down the water whips. The massive voltage slammed directly into the Lion King's body. The shock made his muscles spasm violently. He let out a loud, pained shout. He dropped to one knee. His giant club slipped from his hand. It hit the dirt with a loud thud.
Zinia did not waste the perfect opening. She ran forward. She jumped into the air. She gathered her strong earth magic into her fists. Her hands turned into solid stone blocks. She delivered a devastating, downward punch directly onto the warlord's shoulders.
The impact was absolutely crushing. The ground beneath the Lion King cracked open. The physical force pushed him entirely flat onto the cobblestones.
Laxmi finished the combination. She leaped over Zinia. She raised both hands. She gathered a massive, intense amount of heat. She threw a gigantic, concentrated pillar of roaring orange fire. The fire engulfed the fallen warlord. The flames burned away his magical enhancement aura. His protective shield completely shattered.
The plaza went quiet. The roaring flames slowly faded away.
The 13th Unit stepped back. They breathed very fast. They wiped sweat from their faces. They had used a lot of magical energy. They stood in a tight circle around the center of the battlefield. They waited to see if the enemy would stand up again.
The Lion King lay on the broken pavement. His thick armor was scorched black. His fur cape was totally ruined. He groaned loudly. He tried to push himself off the ground. His massive arms shook violently. He could barely lift his own weight. His physical enhancement spell was entirely broken. His raw power was completely depleted.
He slowly pushed himself onto his knees. He coughed loudly. He stared at the ground. He realized he was totally beaten. He realized he could not win this fight. The elite girls had completely overpowered him.
Ken chewed his yellow gummy worm. He slouched his shoulders and rested his elbows on his knees.
"Finally," Ken mumbled quietly. He let out a loud, dramatic yawn. "The loud noises are over. Fighting takes way too much effort. I am officially ready to go back to the hotel. I hope they have soft pillows. I need a nap."
