"Oops," Ken yelled over the loud sirens. He gave the girls a big, goofy grin. He shrugged his shoulders innocently. "My bad. I guess it was not a snack dispenser. It looks like I accidentally triggered a facility-wide alarm."
Naomi stared at him. She let out a loud, frustrated groan. She did not have time to scold him. "You are totally ridiculous, Ken! Get behind me right now!"
"Gladly!" Ken cheered. He quickly shuffled behind Naomi. He crouched down and covered his ears. "The alarm is very loud! It hurts my delicate ears!"
The sudden breach alarm forced an immediate response. The facility woke up.
Loud, heavy footsteps echoed from the metal hallways outside the laboratory. The high-ranking Ashura commanders and elite guards mobilized instantly. They rushed toward the source of the alarm. They wanted to eliminate the intruders.
"They are coming!" Zinia shouted. She stomped her boots on the metal floor. She tried to pull up an earth wall, but the metal floor blocked her magic. "I cannot use earth magic on solid steel! We have to fight them directly!"
The laboratory doors slammed wide open.
Dozens of elite Ashura guards poured into the room. They wore dark gray tactical armor. Their skin was a sickly gray color. Glowing green veins pulsed brightly on their arms and necks. They bared sharp fangs. They held massive, glowing magical rifles and jagged swords.
They did not speak. They did not show any emotion. They were mindless, terrifying biological weapons.
"Intruders detected!" a tall Ashura commander roared. The commander’s voice sounded distorted and wet. "Annihilate them!"
The Ashura guards charged forward. They fired a massive barrage of dark green energy blasts. The toxic magic zipped across the laboratory.
Princess Iris drew her silver rapier. Her violet eyes flashed with absolute determination. She pointed her blade at the advancing monsters.
"Vanguard, engage!" Princess Iris commanded powerfully. "Do not let them surround us! Push forward!"
The 13th Unit met the charge head-on. A massive firefight erupted instantly.
Laxmi dashed forward. She threw a gigantic, roaring ball of orange fire. The flames hit a group of guards, blowing them backward into the glass tubes. The glass shattered loudly. Toxic green liquid spilled all over the floor.
Naomi moved like a red-haired blur. Her green wind magic swirled around her boots. She ducked under a swinging sword. She slashed her twin daggers across an Ashura guard's chest. The guard stumbled backward.
Sayma pushed her glasses up. She threw her hands forward. "Absolute Hexagon!" she yelled. A brilliant golden honeycomb barrier snapped into place. It successfully blocked a barrage of green energy bullets. Sparks flew everywhere.
Ira stood perfectly still. Her pale face remained totally blank. She summoned two high-pressure water whips. She cracked the whips through the air. She tripped three charging guards, sending them crashing onto the metal floor grids.

Luna rubbed her sleepy eyes. She pointed her fingers lazily. "Zap," she mumbled. Bright yellow lightning cracked across the room. It struck the wet floor, shocking several guards at once.
The battle raged across multiple levels of the facility. The noise of clashing metal, roaring fire, and blaring sirens was totally chaotic. The 13th Unit fought brilliantly. They established secure perimeters around the critical laboratory infrastructure. They pushed deeper into the complex.
Ken crouched safely behind a metal desk. He watched the massive firefight. He pulled another piece of candy from his pocket. He chewed it slowly. The lazy slacker stayed completely out of the way, totally content to let his friends handle the loud, aggressive monsters while he enjoyed his snacks.
---
The bright red emergency lights flashed wildly across the ceiling. The piercing sound of the security siren echoed through the metal room. It was incredibly loud. The primary biological research laboratory was no longer a quiet place for science. It was an absolute war zone.
Dozens of elite Ashura guards poured through the open doors. They wore dark gray tactical armor. Their skin was a sickly, pale gray color. Glowing green veins pulsed brightly along their necks and arms. They held massive, glowing magical rifles. They aimed their weapons directly at the 13th Unit.
Dark green energy blasts ripped through the air. The toxic magic hissed as it flew across the laboratory.
"Hold the line!" Sayma commanded. Her polite voice was totally firm. She stood in the center of the room. She pushed her thick glasses up the bridge of her nose. She thrust both of her hands forward. "Absolute Hexagon!"
A brilliant, glowing golden honeycomb barrier snapped into place. It formed a massive, solid wall of light right in front of the girls. The green energy blasts slammed into the golden shield. The impacts sounded like loud thunderclaps. Bright sparks rained down onto the metal floor grids. Sayma gritted her teeth. She planted her boots firmly. She did not take a single step backward.
Laxmi stood right behind the shield. The fire user wore a massive, excited grin. She punched her open palm. Bright orange flames roared to life around her hands. The fire illuminated her face.
"This is exactly what I wanted!" Laxmi cheered loudly. She bounced on her toes. "I was getting so bored looking at old paperwork! Let me at them!"
"Do not rush out blindly, Laxmi!" Princess Iris ordered. The Princess stood tall and proud. She held her silver rapier tightly. Her violet eyes scanned the massive crowd of enemies. "We need a coordinated strike. They have too many rifles. We must break their firing line first."
Ira stepped forward. Her pale face showed zero emotion. She stared blankly through the golden barrier. She raised her pale hands. The moisture in the cold air instantly gathered around her fingers. She formed two long, high-pressure water whips. The water cracked sharply like real leather.
"Statistically speaking," Ira stated in her flat, robotic voice. "The enemy guards are clustering near the main entrance. A wide-area disruption will reduce their firing accuracy by sixty-five percent."
"I can do a wide-area disruption!" Luna mumbled.
The sleepy lightning user shuffled to the front. She rubbed her tired eyes. She let out a massive, dramatic yawn. She raised two fingers and pointed them toward the ceiling above the guards.
"Zap," Luna said lazily.
A blinding, jagged bolt of bright yellow lightning shot out of her hand. The electricity cracked across the ceiling. It hit a large row of pale fluorescent light bulbs right above the enemy guards. The glass bulbs exploded instantly. A shower of sparks and broken glass rained down on the Ashura soldiers. The sudden explosion blinded them for a few seconds. Their green energy blasts flew wildly off target. They hit the ceiling and the walls.
"Perfect!" Naomi shouted.
Naomi did not wait for another opening. She dashed forward. Green wind magic swirled rapidly around her combat boots. She moved like a red-haired blur. She slipped right past the edge of Sayma's golden shield. She sprinted directly into the middle of the chaotic enemy formation.
She spun her twin silver daggers. The blades flashed in the flashing red light. An Ashura guard tried to aim his rifle at her. Naomi ducked entirely under the long barrel. She kicked the guard squarely in the chest. The guard flew backward and crashed into a metal desk.
