"Because of this massive fear, they are taking action," Dr. Raven revealed his ultimate secret. "There are many complex plans already in motion to get rid of you. The most powerful factions are pooling their resources. They are researching ancient sealing magic. They are hiring elite foreign assassins. They are building new, highly advanced weapons specifically designed to hunt you down. They will not rest until Lancelot is permanently erased from the board."

Dr. Raven finished his grand speech. He breathed heavily. He stared at Lancelot's back. He fully expected the masked entity to turn around in pure rage. He expected Lancelot to demand names. He expected the shadow god to beg for more details about the assassination plots.

Lancelot did not turn around. He did not summon a dark sword. He did not raise his voice.

Lancelot simply tilted his masked head slightly to the side. He looked at the glowing purple portal in front of him.

"I am well aware," Lancelot replied coldly.

His deep, echoing voice was completely flat. It lacked any trace of surprise. It lacked any hint of fear. It sounded absolutely, entirely indifferent.

Dr. Raven froze. His smug smile vanished instantly. His jaw dropped open. He could not comprehend the totally nonchalant reaction. He just revealed a massive, government-wide assassination conspiracy, and Lancelot brushed it off like a minor inconvenience.

"You... you are aware?" Dr. Raven stammered. His voice cracked with disbelief. "They are actively trying to kill you! They are building weapons to destroy you!"

Lancelot stepped forward. He walked directly into the glowing purple portal. The bright light washed over his dark cloak.

He did not look back. He did not care about the terrified politician anymore. He had absolutely zero interest in the petty, paranoid schemes of arrogant old men.

"Let them try," Lancelot stated simply.

The purple portal snapped shut. The bright light vanished entirely. Lancelot was completely gone. The dark dimension returned to absolute, pitch-black silence.

Dr. Raven stood entirely alone in the freezing dark room. He stared at the empty space where the portal had been. He felt a deep, profound sense of utter defeat. He realized he could never manipulate the shadow god. Lancelot was completely beyond the reach of normal political games.

Dr. Raven slowly sank back down to his knees. He hugged himself tightly. He shivered in the cold air.

"He already knows," Dr. Raven muttered to himself. His voice sounded hollow and broken. He stared blankly into the endless darkness. "He knows they are coming for him. And he does not care. He is totally unafraid."

A realization hit the ruined politician. He saw the absolute, terrifying confidence in Lancelot's demeanor. He understood what it meant for the future of the Belmontia Empire.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

"One day," Dr. Raven whispered softly into the void. "One day, they will push him too far. One day, Lancelot will stop playing games. He will take a serious step. He will stop hiding in the shadows. And that day will mark the absolute beginning of a terrifying new era for this Empire. The old system will burn."

Dr. Raven closed his eyes. He sat in the dark prison. He waited for the rusty scissors to return. His part in the story was officially over.

Far away from the cold shadow dimension, the real world was bright and warm.

Ken Eliot stepped out of a dark shadow in his small, dusty bedroom at the 13th Unit estate. He snapped his fingers softly. The dark cloak and the purple mask instantly melted away. His wrinkled navy blue suit pants and untucked white shirt returned. His black hair stuck up in messy spikes.

He let out a loud, dramatic yawn. He stretched his arms high above his head. His back popped softly.

"Man, that guy talked way too much," Ken complained lazily to his empty room. He kicked off his cheap shoes. They landed in a messy pile near the wall. "He really thought a bunch of old guys in fancy suits could scare me. Politicians are so incredibly funny. They think their little meetings actually matter. I could literally turn their entire building into a giant block of cheese if I wanted to. But cheese is very sticky to clean up."

Ken shoved his hands deep into his pockets. He shuffled out of his bedroom. He dragged his socks on the wooden floorboards. Scuff. Scuff. Scuff. He walked down the stairs. He headed straight for the living room.

He walked through the doorway. The living room felt incredibly peaceful. The bright afternoon sun shined through the large windows. The chaotic news broadcast had finally ended. The television was turned off.

Naomi stood near the coffee table. She wore her simple gray shirt. Her red ponytail swished behind her. She held a large plate of freshly made sandwiches. She smiled a very warm, bright smile when she saw Ken enter the room. She did not yell at him for his untucked shirt.

"There you are, Ken," Naomi teased gently. She playfully nudged his arm with her elbow. "Your stomachache took a very long time. I was about to send Risa in there to heal you. Are you feeling better?"

"I am completely cured," Ken grinned a massive, lazy smile. He looked at the sandwiches with pure joy. "My stomach is fully prepared to process immense amounts of bread and cheese. You are a lifesaver, Naomi."

Laxmi sat on the floor. She tossed a playing card into a hat. She missed again. She groaned playfully. "You are just in time, slacker. We are going to play a massive card tournament. I am going to completely destroy you this time."

Ken walked over and collapsed heavily onto the soft sofa. He slouched his shoulders and let out a long sigh of absolute comfort. "You can certainly try, Laxmi. But my card skills are totally unrivaled. I am the master of sitting down and winning."

Sayma sat in her plush armchair. She read a thick tactical notebook. She pushed her glasses up her nose. She offered a polite, gentle smile. "Statistically, Ken’s luck factor in card games is highly suspicious. I advise caution, Laxmi."

Zinia laughed a deep, booming laugh from the window. "Let them play, Sayma. It is funny to watch."

Ira stood perfectly still by the bookshelf. Her pale face showed zero emotion. "I will distribute the cards. I deal with flawless precision."

Luna snored quietly on the wooden bench. Risa colored her picture of the smiling potato on the rug. The estate was filled with easy laughter and warm friendships.

Ken grabbed a sandwich from Naomi's plate. He took a huge bite. He chewed happily. He looked around the room at his noisy, chaotic, wonderful family. He felt incredibly safe.

He knew the Upper Council was plotting against him. He knew the Black Magicians were starting a massive war. He knew the world was incredibly dangerous. But sitting on this comfortable couch, eating a delicious sandwich, none of that mattered. He was perfectly content to stay exactly where he was. The lazy boy had everything completely under control, and he was totally ready to enjoy his peaceful afternoon.
