Ken stepped over to his small wooden desk. He leaned against the edge of the wood. He effortlessly planned a continent-wide espionage mission in a matter of seconds.

"Tell Karna to infiltrate the central banking databases," Ken ordered smoothly. "The purchase of bomb materials requires a massive flow of illegal funds. Karna must trace every single suspicious financial transaction made over the last thirty-six months. Find out who funded the initial theft."

"It will be done," Ryu nodded firmly.

"Contact Leviathan," Ken continued. "Instruct her to sweep the underground black markets. The criminal syndicates in the outer districts always hear whispers. A theft of that magnitude cannot remain completely silent. Tell her to interrogate the smugglers. Find out who transported the stolen Solurious core out of the royal vault."

Ken crossed his arms over his chest. He mapped out the rest of the assignments perfectly.

"Send Selina to the border provinces," Ken directed. "The magical radiation from the core leaves a faint, invisible trace. Selina’s pure light magic can detect lingering toxic corruption. Tell her to scan the old trade routes. We need to know exactly how the weapon was moved from the capital to the eastern mountains."

"I will deploy her at once," Ryu agreed.

"Mirajane will hover above the capital city," Ken added. "Tell her to use her chaotic magic sensing. I want a complete aerial surveillance net over the noble district. If the mastermind communicates with his hidden agents, Mirajane will intercept the magical signals. We will catch them talking."

Ryu slammed his fist against his chest armor. The metal clanged loudly. "Your strategic vision is absolutely flawless, my Lord. We will cover every single inch of this Empire. The mastermind has absolutely nowhere to hide. We will uncover the true identity of the person attempting to shift the blame onto you."

"Tell Merlin, Joseph, Samiha, and Erana to stand by for combat deployment," Ken finished lazily. "Once you uncover the mastermind's location, do not engage. Report directly to me. I will decide the appropriate punishment."

"We will not fail you, Supreme Ruler!" Ryu promised fiercely.

"Good," Ken replied. He let out a loud, dramatic yawn. He stretched his arms high above his head. "Now, get to work. I have a very busy schedule tomorrow. I plan to sleep until noon. Do not wake me up unless you find a solid clue."

Ryu offered one final, deep bow. The green magical circle flared brightly on the floorboards. The giant dragon-man stepped backward into the dark shadows. He dissolved seamlessly into the darkness. The green light vanished entirely. The bedroom returned to its normal, dusty state.

The room grew warm again. The magical pressure lifted completely.

Ken Eliot stood alone in the quiet bedroom. He dropped his serious, commanding posture entirely. He slouched his shoulders as far as they could possibly go. He walked over to his bed. He flopped face-first onto his lumpy mattress.

"Man, delegating tasks is exhausting," Ken complained casually to his pillow. "I had to use so many big words. But now the entire shadow army is doing my homework for me. It is a highly efficient management strategy. I am a fantastic boss."

He rolled onto his back. He pulled his thin blanket all the way up to his chin. He stared at the ceiling.

He thought about the massive, three-year conspiracy. He thought about the unknown mastermind hiding in the dark. The villain was smart. The villain was patient. The villain almost succeeded in starting a global war.

"This is definitely a massive story arc," Ken mumbled sleepily. He closed his dark eyes. "The bad guy spent three years training off-screen. He leveled up his stealth stats. But he made one massive, fatal mistake. He tried to frame me."

Ken smiled a tiny, goofy smile in the dark room.

"You do not frame the guy who just wants to take a nap," Ken thought lazily. "That is the ultimate taboo. It ruins my relaxation time. When my spirits find you, I am going to be very annoyed. I might actually have to use a spell."

He did not feel scared. He did not feel worried about the massive conspiracy. He knew his elite commanders would find the answers. Karna, Leviathan, and the others were the absolute best spies in the world. They would systematically tear the capital city apart until they found the truth.

Ken wiggled his toes under the blanket. He felt incredibly comfortable.

"I hope Naomi makes pancakes for breakfast," Ken whispered to the empty room. "Pancakes are the best vacation food. I will definitely ask for extra syrup."

Within two minutes, the lazy boy was fast asleep. He snored very quietly. He dreamed about a quiet potato farm. He dreamed about eating a giant stack of warm pancakes.

Outside his bedroom window, the capital city remained completely silent. The citizens slept peacefully in their beds. The 13th Unit rested safely downstairs. They had absolutely no idea that a massive, invisible shadow army was currently sweeping across the entire continent. They did not know the true hunt for the mastermind had officially begun. The lazy slacker was completely in control, and the real villain was totally running out of time.

Jasmin stood in front of the couch. She looked down at Ken. Ken was fast asleep. His mouth was slightly open. A small drop of drool sat on his cheek. His hair was messy. He wore his navy blue suit. The shirt was untucked on one side. The tie was completely crooked.

Jasmin reached out. She pinched Ken’s arm. She pinched him hard.

"Ow!" Ken yelled. He sat up quickly. He rubbed his arm. "That was a sneak attack. Why did you do that? I was having a very good dream. I was eating a giant potato."

"You are always sleeping," Jasmin said. She crossed her arms. "The sun is high in the sky. It is a beautiful morning. You need to get up."

"I am resting my eyes," Ken said. He slouched back onto the couch. "Resting is very important. It keeps my brain fresh."

Ken blinked again. He looked at his sister. Then he looked around the living room. He looked confused.

"Wait," Ken said slowly. He pointed a lazy finger at Jasmin. "How did you get inside the estate? The gates are very tall. The guards are very serious. Did you sneak past them?"

Jasmin crossed her arms. She raised an eyebrow. "I walked through the front gate. The guards recognized me. They said, 'You are Ken's sister. Please come in.' They were very polite. They even offered me tea."

Ken narrowed his eyes. He looked suspicious. "They offered you tea? They never offer me tea. They always make me show my identification."

"That is because you look suspicious," Jasmin said flatly. "You always walk around with your hands in your pockets. You look like you are planning to steal something. I look like a normal, responsible citizen."
