"What did the base say?" Moira Lynch asked curiously.

She was certain the footprint from before had been left by the creature that had flashed by last night, but she couldn’t say it out loud right now.

"Captain Shepard said we aren’t the first to find these kinds of footprints. They’ve found several over there too. What’s more, a few players have hearing-related Talents, and they’re certain something entered the base last night but left again just as quickly."

Shane Rhodes recounted what he had managed to find out.

"So, did anything happen inside the base?" Hugh Finch asked.

"Yes. The temperature suddenly dropped last night. Who knows how many more people froze to death, especially the elderly. Thankfully, the base evacuated all the children beforehand, otherwise..."

’Otherwise, the death toll would have been double what it is now.’

Lamb fat dripped onto the burning firewood, making a CRACKLING sound. The aroma of the meat grew stronger, quickly capturing the attention of Moira Lynch and the others.

Forgetting their conversation, Moira Lynch impatiently took out a small knife, found a spot that was already cooked, and sliced off a piece to pop into her mouth.

"It smells so good, but it’s a little bland. Looks like it wasn’t marinated long enough."

"Who told you to be so impatient? You insisted on roasting it after marinating it for just over ten minutes."

Shane Rhodes also picked up a dagger, cut a piece of lamb, and put it in his mouth. "It is a bit bland, but it’s not a lost cause. It should be just right with some dipping sauce."

Moira Lynch quickly pulled out several kinds of seasonings from her Space Button and placed them in front of everyone, letting them mix their own flavors as they wished.

For a while after that, the only sounds in the room were the movie, the hearty chomping of meat, and the glugging of drinks.

As awakened Talents, Moira Lynch and the others had much larger appetites than ordinary people.

A whole sheep seemed like a lot, but it only filled the four of them up to about seventy percent. They then had a robot make them some skewers, which perfectly rounded off the meal.

Due to the weather, the sun remained hidden even during the day.

Moreover, night was now falling incredibly fast. Even though it was only the afternoon, the sky was already starting to darken.

The snow, which had lightened up, began to fall heavily again.

Moira Lynch and the others cleaned up the remnants of their meal, closed the windows, and shut out the wind, snow, and cold.

That night, a rustling sound suddenly came from outside.

Just as Moira Lynch was about to alert the others, she noticed that Shane Rhodes and the rest were all staring warily outside.

This time, Moira Lynch’s spiritual power "saw" it very clearly. It was a person made of ice.

Compared to ordinary people, these beings had stronger, taller bodies.

Their entire bodies were made of transparent ice. With indifferent eyes, they walked step by step toward the house, only to stop just as they reached it.

’It seemed to be the same as yesterday.’

Looking down, her gaze fell upon a pair of enormous feet. With each step, the snow beneath them would instantly melt, only to rapidly freeze over again.

Now Moira Lynch finally understood how those footprints were formed.

The creatures didn’t advance further, instead standing motionless. It was only then that Moira Lynch noticed that these unidentified beings made of ice were actually wearing human clothes.

Moira Lynch tried to approach them with her spiritual power, but as she got close, the chilling aura they emanated made her shiver.

’So cold!’

Fortunately, they didn’t stand there for long.

After about five minutes, they vanished.

Sensing the creatures outside were gone, Shane Rhodes and the others finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Boss, you guys felt that just now, right?" Kai York whispered.

Shane Rhodes nodded. "I just don’t know what they were."

"Whatever they were, they can’t be good news," Moira Lynch said slowly.

"I performed a divination." The moment Hugh Finch spoke, he instantly captured the attention of Moira Lynch and the others.

The three of them turned to him in unison, awaiting the results of Hugh Finch’s divination.

Hugh Finch didn’t keep them in suspense and shared his findings. "My divination shows that the things outside just now seem to be related to the snow. The hexagram indicates that these things are extremely dangerous. They can only be active on nights when it’s windy and snowing, and... they’re terrified of fire."

After hearing Hugh Finch’s words, they all involuntarily glanced at the flames burning in the fireplace.

’No wonder they only dared to stop outside and didn’t come any closer. So they’re afraid of fire.’

Shane Rhodes didn’t delay. He sent everything—what had just happened and what Hugh Finch had divined—to Chase Shepard through the Intelligent Brain.

Perhaps because of the intense stress just moments before, now that she had relaxed, a wave of drowsiness washed over Moira Lynch, and she quickly fell asleep.

She slept dreamlessly through the night.

The next day, Moira Lynch didn’t get up immediately after waking. She lazed about in her warm, cozy bed.

’I don’t want to get up, and I definitely don’t want to put on makeup.’

As the weather grew colder and colder, the skin of both Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch became paler and paler, to a frightening degree.

In Kai York’s words, if the two of them wore white clothes and lay down in the snow, no one would ever be able to find them.

Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch could do nothing about it; after all, this side effect was permanent.

What’s more, the more Snow Chestnuts they ate, the more pronounced the side effect became.

Evidently, both Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch had eaten quite a few, which was why they now looked this way.

Moira Lynch was slightly better off than Hugh Finch. Because of her blessing, her hair wasn’t completely white.

Not wanting to get up, Moira Lynch simply lay on the sofa and slacked off, using her Golden Celestial Eye to observe the situation on Veridian Prime.

Unlike the vast, snowy landscape of Caelus, Veridian Prime was still brimming with life.

Veridian Prime and Caelus were not only similar in environment but also in their seasons. Both had the four distinct seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, but each season on Veridian Prime lasted twice as long as on Caelus.

In other words, a year on Caelus was twelve months long, but a year on Veridian Prime was twenty-four months long.

Moira Lynch had learned all this from the Flower Sprites.

...

「Meanwhile, on Veridian Prime.」

A Golden Celestial Eye suddenly appeared in the sky, looking left and right with a distinctively sneaky air.

By now, everyone was used to it.

After all, similar things had happened many times before.

They had even guessed that the one controlling the Golden Celestial Eye was none other than SoySauceDrunkard.

Therefore, the people working here just assumed she was here to inspect the construction. Whenever the Golden Celestial Eye appeared, everyone’s work ethic would become exceptionally earnest and diligent.

"Looks like SoySauceDrunkard really cares about Veridian Prime, coming to inspect so frequently," said a worker operating an excavator.

"Is that so? Why do I get the feeling she’s just here to play?" another worker said.
