Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 468 - 458: Grape TrellisAs for the gourd seed, Moira Lynch had originally wanted to plant it in her space. The description claimed it was a magical seed, after all, and planting it there seemed like the safest bet.
However, when she tried to plant the gourd seed inside her space, she suddenly felt a violent rejection.
It wasn’t the gourd seed rejecting the space.
On the contrary, looking at the trembling seed, Moira could feel a wave of excitement coming from it.
For a seed to be capable of emotion was no ordinary thing.
Until now, the only seeds Moira had ever sensed emotions from were this gourd seed and the seeds of the Elf Tree House.
But the emotions from the Elf Tree House seeds were very faint. The feelings from a whole pile of them couldn’t compare to the intensity of this one gourd seed.
Right now, Moira could clearly feel it—not only was her space rejecting the seed, but her own body was also refusing her next action.
It was as if something terrible would happen if she planted the gourd seed in her space.
Fortunately, Moira wasn’t the stubborn type. She had a great deal of faith in her intuition.
Knowing that something bad would happen, she naturally wouldn’t go through with it.
’I’ll just take the gourd seed with me when I go to Cloudsea Planet.’
Right now, Moira looked at the three men with their serious expressions. She’d been gone for quite a while, but they still hadn’t even started.
’It’s just building a grape trellis. To see the looks on their faces, you’d think they were tackling some profound, world-ending problem. So serious.’
When the video finished playing, the three men looked up, exchanged a glance, and nodded. It was as if they had reached a silent agreement. Each of them then started on their tasks.
Seeing them finally get to work, Moira didn’t go over to bother them. ’All I care about is the final product, anyway.’
Moira took a turn about the yard, looking for the perfect spot to plant the Seven-color Crystal Grapes.
The Elf Tree House had grown several times larger, and the yard had expanded along with it. ’Now I can plant even more vegetables.’
Notably, the free-range Treasure Chickens and Snow Ducks Moira had released had gotten used to living here. They would roam outside during the day but always returned at night.
They even came back to lay their eggs.
The chicken and duck eggs she was incubating would be hatching in a few more days.
After another look around, Moira finally found a suitable spot.
A shovel appeared out of thin air in her hand.
A few scoops with the shovel, and there was a hole in the ground—one that seemed a little too big for a single grape seed.
But Moira had her own ideas about that.
To ensure the survival rate of the Seven-color Crystal Grapes, Moira laid a base of Water Wood Stone, planted the seed, and then irrigated it with nutrient liquid.
Nutrient liquid was a fluid that promoted rapid plant growth, helping them take root and sprout. Using it on crops could also increase their yield.
However, this type of nutrient liquid was expensive to produce and thus unsuitable for large-scale use.
Of course, the one Moira used was the best of the best.
She had bought two vials in total. One was used to water the Seven-color Crystal Grapes, and the other was taken to be replicated by the Pharmaceutical Ring.
As the nutrient liquid seeped down through the loose soil, about thirty seconds passed. Then, a wine-red sprout broke through the surface, stretching itself in the sunlight.
Moira had done her research beforehand. The fruit of the Seven-Colored Tree Spirit Grapes was multicolored and crystal-like, and even the leaves were a distinctive color.
The newly emerged sprout seemed dissatisfied with its current size. It continued to stretch and grow, shooting up to half a meter in height in the blink of an eye.
Moira watched the little vine swaying precariously. She glanced around; all the nearby wood was for the trellis.
After a moment’s thought, Moira retrieved a simple climbing frame from her space for the vine.
’The trellis isn’t finished yet, so this will have to do for now.’
Thankfully, the vine stopped growing once it was a little over a meter tall.
When Shane Rhodes, Hugh Finch, and Kai York saw that Moira’s grape seed had already sprouted, they all instinctively quickened their pace.
However, no matter how fast they were, they couldn’t possibly finish it all at once.
Seeing the situation, Moira decided to help. She picked up the device the men had been using and replayed the video from the beginning.
She had only just started the video when she found herself dumbfounded. She’d only asked them to build a grape trellis, but they were planning to build a whole pavilion to go with it.
’They’re trying to run before they can walk,’ Moira thought. She was just about to tell them to give up. After all, the design looked incredibly complex, using mortise and tenon joints that even some professionals struggled with, let alone a few amateurs. But when the video showed the final product, Moira fell silent.
’Actually... it might be worth a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? And there’s no real harm if they fail.’
Moira had planned to help, but she quickly realized she couldn’t make heads or tails of the instructions.
’It doesn’t matter that I don’t understand, though. I have an all-powerful helper.’
"Patience, come help!"
"Right away! I already compiled the data and drafted the blueprints while you were watching the video, Master. Just follow my instructions, and you can’t go wrong."
And so, under Patience’s direction, Moira got busy as well.
For a girl with the monstrous strength to carry a propane tank with one hand and still move like the wind, the carpentry itself posed no challenge.
The only trick was being careful not to use too much force and damage the wood.
With the four of them working together in concert, the pavilion, with its openwork roof, was finally complete.
The roof was intentionally left open. In the future, once the grapevine grew large enough to cover it, the gaps would allow clusters of grapes to hang down naturally, creating a unique and beautiful scene.
By now, night had fallen. The group was exhausted after a long day of work. Zion had already prepared dinner, and as soon as the door opened, the rich aroma of food washed over them.
Just before they started eating, Moira suddenly produced three Verasi Potions, handing one to each of the men.
"These are for you."
The three men stared at the pink potions in their hands, then looked at Moira in confusion.
"Moira, what wonderful thing is this?" Kai York asked.
’They were used to this by now. Anything Moira presented with such a serious expression, placing it solemnly in their hands, was guaranteed to be something incredible.’
"It’s a Verasi Potion," Moira explained. "It’s an amazing item that can directly raise your level and help evolve your talent."
