Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 471 - 461: The Third TalentMoira Lynch handed a blank name tag to Hugh Finch and said seriously, "Don’t forget the important business."
A flicker of confusion crossed his eyes as he looked at the blank name tag in his hand. "What’s this? You want to play that name-tag-ripping game?"
"It’s an item that can change your name," Moira said, rolling her eyes.
Only then did Hugh Finch remember what Moira was talking about. He’d been so preoccupied with Cloudsea Planet that he’d almost forgotten about this.
"So this is the item you used to overwrite your original identity?"
"Uh-huh." Moira nodded proudly. "Just write a name on it with a pen, then stick it on yourself."
After speaking, she seemed to remember something and took out a white quill. "A normal pen won’t write on this. Use mine."
Hugh Finch took the quill and asked casually, "I’ve seen items that change your identity in the Shop before, but they were nothing like this."
"Of course they’re different. Mine’s a limited edition called Fairy’s Mask. Once you use it, you can switch between the two identities at any time. Even a fortune teller would have a hard time scrying the truth... unless they’re someone like you."
After putting the item away, Hugh Finch acknowledged her and turned to find Shane Rhodes and Kai York.
As expected, when they heard Hugh Finch and Moira were going to another planet for a mission, Shane Rhodes and Kai York immediately insisted on coming along.
But Hugh managed to dissuade them with an excuse he had prepared in advance.
"You’re leaving today? What’s the rush? Aren’t you going to take the Verasi Potion?" Shane Rhodes asked.
"My talent is fortune telling. It’s not a combat-focused one with incredible destructive power like yours and Kai York’s, Boss. As for Moira, her talent is also more of a support type. We can just take the potion on the way."
Hearing Hugh Finch’s explanation, Shane Rhodes nodded. "Alright, then. Neither of you are combat types, so be careful out there. And make sure you take good care of Moira."
Hearing this, Hugh Finch snarked to himself, ’Me, take care of Moira? The three of us put together probably wouldn’t be a match for her.’
That’s what he thought, but outwardly he gave his assurance. "Don’t worry, Boss. I won’t let anything happen to her."
Because Hugh Finch had said they were leaving that day, Moira, who had planned on going back to her room to rest, was forced to pack her luggage through the night. She followed him out with a resentful look on her face.
The two of them boarded the small boat they had acquired previously and set off toward the open sea.
Hugh Finch’s reasoning for this was that teleporting to another planet would cause a significant commotion, so they needed to get to a more remote location.
Once they were far enough away, Moira covered Hugh Finch’s eyes with one hand. With a single thought, she brought him and the boat into her personal space. A moment later, another thought took them from her space to Cloudsea Planet.
For Hugh Finch, the entire process was incredibly fast, over in the blink of an eye. But Moira was on edge the entire time, terrified of making a mistake.
Thankfully, the journey went without a hitch.
Once they arrived on Cloudsea Planet, Moira finally removed the hand covering Hugh’s eyes.
Hugh Finch opened his eyes. After letting them adjust for a moment, he looked around. "This is Cloudsea Planet? Didn’t you say it was all ocean? Why do I see a huge island not far from here?"
His eyes immediately fell on an island just a few hundred meters away.
He estimated it was at least as large as Moira’s island on Veridian Prime.
"Oh, that one? It’s an artificial island," Moira explained. "That island started as a tiny islet, only a few dozen square meters. They planted Qio Vine on it, and it gradually grew to its current size. There are many more islets like it around here."
"By the way, the seeds of the Qio Vine are the Qio Rice we eat."
After giving Hugh Finch a brief introduction to Cloudsea Planet, the two didn’t forget their main task.
Because Moira’s talent was both powerful and complex, she found a spot some distance away from Hugh Finch.
She didn’t even pick a spot on the island. Instead, she went out over the open water, created a sheet of ice, and sat down on it. Then she took out the Verasi Potion, uncapped it, and drank it all in one go.
The instant the Verasi Potion touched her tongue, Moira felt as though someone had stuffed a handful of wet sand in her mouth.
She instinctively wanted to gag but forced the urge down and swallowed the potion in one gulp.
At first, Moira felt no major reaction to the Verasi Potion.
’Maybe the effects just haven’t kicked in yet,’ Moira thought.
Another moment passed, and still nothing. She lifted her hands to inspect them, but there was no change. ’Did the potion expire?’ she wondered.
Just as she prepared to stand up from the sheet of ice, she suddenly realized something was wrong. The texture beneath her hands felt off.
’Ice isn’t supposed to be soft, is it?’
The next thing she knew, she felt as if she were drunk. Her body felt weightless. She knew she wasn’t moving, but the scene before her eyes was tilting and tumbling as the world spun around her.
She tried to steady herself, but her body refused to obey. In the next instant, she lost consciousness.
When Moira awoke, she was floating in the sea.
It was now night, and the sky above was a brilliant canopy of twinkling stars.
In her entire life, she had only ever seen a sight like this in movies with special effects.
"So many stars... It’s so beautiful."
But just as Moira was marveling at the beautiful scene, she suddenly sensed that something was wrong.
’I’ve seen the sky on Cloudsea Planet before,’ she thought. ’It looks nothing like this.’
At that thought, Moira scrambled up out of the water.
As her fingers touched the water, a floating sheet of ice appeared beneath her.
After climbing onto it, she finally began to assess her condition.
’Did I successfully have a breakthrough?’
She felt the energy inside her; it was more than ten times what it had been before. She had definitely broken through.
With her breakthrough, Snowy had also undergone a massive transformation. The fox had shot up in size, now standing as tall as a two-story building, its nine tails fanning out magnificently behind it.
The changes to her personal space were minor, perhaps because it was already perfect and needed no improvement.
As for her spiritual power, Moira could clearly feel it had become much more refined.
In the midst of this self-assessment, Moira suddenly noticed a new, unfamiliar energy within her body.
A blue energy. The sensation it gave off was incredibly familiar.
’It couldn’t be what I think it is, could it?’
At this thought, Moira tried to channel that familiar yet strange power. The next moment, a frosty chill materialized in her hand.
A third talent.
"Patience, has this ever happened before?" Moira asked.
