Day twelve of the game.

Early this morning, Perry Yates’s temporary player safe house once again welcomed a dozen or so players who had arrived as a group.

With them came a native of this world.

Perry Yates was a little surprised to learn that a native had arrived. After all, she had only released her Thousand Paper Cranes the day before; this was surprisingly efficient.

However, after talking with them, she learned that they hadn’t followed the Thousand Paper Cranes. They had either followed the other players or noticed the protective barrier’s golden glow during the night.

Driven by curiosity, they came over to investigate.

After entering the protective shield, they were dumbfounded to witness players using all kinds of special abilities to clear abandoned vehicles and fallen debris from the streets.

In a matter of minutes, their entire worldview was turned upside down.

And just then, a pack of Xenomorphs suddenly appeared.

There were no walls to hold them back. The natives instinctively turned to flee, but in the next second, they saw a Wind Blade shoot over their heads and slice one of the Xenomorphs in half.

They stared in shock in the direction the Wind Blade had come from. A young man with long hair and a trench coat, exuding a free-spirited air, stood with his hand raised, a frustrated expression on his face.

They faintly heard the young man complain to his companion, "Crap, I think I overdid it. The boss isn’t going to yell at me, is she?"

His companion replied nonchalantly, "Relax, the boss won’t yell at you. She won’t even give you the time of day."

Since Perry Yates had already revealed some of the Xenomorphs’ weaknesses, and some players had also bought identification item cards, this mutual assistance made dealing with the Xenomorphs as easy as child’s play.

This was the first time they had ever truly understood the meaning of the phrase "unity is strength."

Although they had formed teams in previous games, it had always been more of a desperate alliance for survival; teammates could never be fully trusted.

But now, they had no such concerns. With no more scheming and backstabbing, the atmosphere among the players had improved considerably.

After all, with plenty to eat and drink and no need to worry about their safety, the only thing they had to do was present a united front.

Once all the Xenomorphs were dealt with, the players dragged some of the corpses inside the protective shield for processing. The remaining bodies were piled in one spot to be incinerated together at night.

Of course, the players weren’t hunting Xenomorphs for free. They got the same rate as the natives: ten Xenomorph corpses could be exchanged for one card.

Once the natives snapped out of their shock, they excitedly began asking the surrounding players how they could obtain such abilities.

The other players then led them to Perry Yates.

"So you’re the ’boss’ they were talking about?" one of them asked, his voice hesitant.

The person before them wore a mask, but from her overall bearing and what little skin was visible, they could tell she wasn’t very old.

"That’s right. I’m the boss they mentioned," Perry Yates said with a nod.

"I hear you have a way for us to gain special abilities."

Perry Yates nodded again, and an Alien Gene Card materialized in her hand.

"Fuse with this card, and you can obtain the power of a Xenomorph."

Watching the card in Perry Yates’s hand emit a strange light, the natives present found their breathing quickening, their gazes locked on the card as it hovered and spun slowly in her palm.

"How much for the card?"

He hadn’t forgotten how the other people had addressed the person before him—as Boss!

"Ten Xenomorph corpses for one card," Perry Yates said.

"Ten is too many! Can’t you make it less? How about five?" another one of the natives said.

The man had clearly spent too much time in markets, and was now applying his haggling tactics to Perry Yates.

But Perry Yates... she didn’t get angry. She simply raised a finger, pointed to the exit, and said in a mild tone, "The door is over there. See yourself out."

The man was choked into silence by Perry Yates’s mild yet unyielding attitude. He couldn’t get a word out, a look of stifled indignation on his face.

However, the other natives ignored this delusional and rather foolish man.

The man who had spoken first said, "How can we believe you with nothing but your word? Not unless you let us test the product first."

This time, Perry Yates’s tone was not nearly as mild.

She looked at them with ice in her eyes, and her words were even colder. "I have no need to prove anything to you. The door is over there. See yourself out."

Her unspoken message was clear: buy it or get out.

With that, Perry Yates’s figure vanished, leaving the stunned group of natives behind.

After Perry Yates disappeared, the natives simply looked at each other in dismay.

They weren’t all from the same base; their arrival together had been a mere coincidence.

Recalling the boss’s attitude, they were at a loss for what to do. Whether or not to bring this information back to their respective bases—that was the question.

Just then, a man in the crowd who had been silent the whole time started walking toward the outside.

"Orion Abbott, what are you doing?!"

The young man called Orion Abbott ignored the speaker, instead quickening his pace.

Perry Yates hadn’t expected any of the natives to seek her out directly.

She looked at the man before her, who was holding a card in his hand.

This card was none other than the precursor to the Alien Gene Card.

Meeting his gaze, Perry Yates tilted her head. "Can I help you with something?"

Orion Abbott didn’t beat around the bush. "I saw the card you showed earlier," he said, getting straight to the point. "It’s very similar to the one I’m holding, just with some different details. But when my friend fused with this card, he turned into a monster."

Orion Abbott’s expression clearly said, ’You’d better give me a reasonable explanation, or I swear I’ll expose your lies.’

"The reason is simple." Perry Yates took the card from Orion Abbott’s hand. "It’s because this card’s purpose is to turn people into half-human, half-Xenomorph monsters."

"So, you’re admitting you were lying before?" Sterling Abbott’s voice grew agitated.

"Lying? When did I ever lie? My card and the one in your hand are not the same thing. As a reputable merchant, I don’t deceive my customers."
