Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 172: A Big OrderAs she spoke, Perry Yates’s eyes sparkled, all but screaming that she was only there for their cards.
Evan Fuller was taken aback for a moment by Perry Yates’s directness. Then he said, "As long as what you’re offering is good enough, we have more than enough cards to cover it."
Hearing this, Perry Yates clapped her hands. "With you saying that, we’re all set. By the way, do you want to tell me which cards you’d like first? I can start by making those for you."
As she spoke, Perry Yates pulled an item from the row of organizers on her person.
This device could record a card’s functions and attributes, so Perry Yates had logged most of the cards she owned into it, leaving out only a small portion she wasn’t willing to part with.
Amber Sheridan, who was standing to the side, was also drawn in by the device’s contents.
"You make Multi-attribute ones, too?" Evan Fuller asked.
Perry Yates nodded. "Of course. How could I call it ’customization’ otherwise? However, if you want custom Multi-attribute cards, you’ll probably have to wait a bit.
Additionally, if you’re not satisfied with the card attributes or abilities listed, you can provide your own cards for the fusion."
After Perry Yates finished speaking, she saw that both Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan were focused on the device. She didn’t disturb them and walked over to a nearby sofa. Since she didn’t have a phone, she simply started eating.
After about an hour had passed, Perry Yates finally heard a noise. She looked up just in time to see Amber Sheridan hurrying outside. About ten minutes later, he returned.
Perry Yates took the device from Amber Sheridan’s hands and glanced at the contents. Her eyes widened instantly.
The two of them had custom-ordered a total of ten cards: six 4-star Skill Cards and four 5-star item cards. As for how many base cards were needed to create them all... she couldn’t even calculate it. It was a lot, anyway.
"Are you sure about all this?" Perry Yates asked, uncertain.
"Don’t tell me you can’t make them," Amber Sheridan said.
"Of course I can make them," Perry Yates said, glaring at him. ’The real question is whether *you* can afford it.’
"As long as you can make them, that’s all that matters. Here’s half the deposit, take it. As for the others, we’ll need some time to get their orders tallied."
Looking at the Space Backpack placed in front of her and feeling how it was stuffed full of cards, Perry Yates finally knew they weren’t joking. They really had the resources to back it up.
’Big clients!!’
Perry Yates transferred the cards from their Space Backpack to her own, a brilliant smile spreading across her face. "This is no problem at all. However, the Skill Cards you want are all Multi-attribute cards. Like I said before, those will take a bit longer. I’ll start by making the item cards first."
Since Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan provided some of the cards themselves, Perry Yates didn’t have to worry about finding the right combinations. The only issue was that the cards they provided were all 3-star, so the fusion process would take a little longer.
"How long will you need?" Evan Fuller asked.
"With 3-star cards, the fusion time is longer. A single fusion takes five to six days. For six cards total, it’ll take about a month. And that’s a conservative estimate; the actual time might be a bit longer."
Evan Fuller showed no dissatisfaction with the timeline Perry Yates provided. After all, they instinctively understood that this sort of high-end customization was inherently time-consuming.
"Alright, it’s a deal then. But how do we contact you when they’re ready?" Evan Fuller asked the final, most crucial question.
Perry Yates was from another planet, after all. If she ran off with the money, they’d have absolutely no recourse. They might run into her in other games, but what if the "Perry Yates" they were seeing wasn’t her real self?
"That’s not a problem. I can grant you both partial access to an Any Door, allowing you to use it to come to my Card Tavern. And by the way, besides custom cards, my tavern has a lot of other great things. You should come take a look. I guarantee it’ll be more than worth your while. My only requirement is that you don’t reveal your identities, or mine."
Hearing Perry Yates say this, Amber Sheridan’s interest was instantly piqued.
On this planet, players like them had to live like rats in a sewer. They clearly possessed the power to change the world, but for the sake of peace, they were forced to disguise themselves as ordinary people.
Things seemed calm now, but that was only because they had a titan like Master Ford keeping things in check. In reality, a growing number of people were becoming dissatisfied with the situation.
The emergence of another planet at a time like this might just be a good thing.
"By the way, Perry Yates, do you have a place over there where people can fight freely?" Amber Sheridan asked.
Perry Yates shook her head. "Private duels between players are forbidden where I’m from, too, and harming ordinary people is especially prohibited. However, if that’s what you want, I might be able to figure something out."
Amber Sheridan’s words gave Perry Yates an idea. She could host an arena and let players fight in it. It would be even better to set up a leaderboard. On one hand, it would let them blow off steam and satisfy their thirst for battle. On the other, it would give everyone a reality check—just because you’re a player doesn’t make you superior. There’s always someone better out there.
Most importantly, she could charge admission. ’It’s killing three birds with one stone,’ she thought. ’Heh heh.’
’I’ll check if I have any suitable cards as soon as I get back.’
’Considering the combat power of some players, an ordinary item definitely won’t cut it. It’ll have to be a high-level one, preferably a 4-star or even a 5-star item.’
After bidding farewell to Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan, Perry Yates used the Any Door to return to The Card Tavern. However, she didn’t immediately start looking for a card suitable for an arena. She had more important things to do, after all. ’Finish the big clients’ order first,’ she told herself. ’And also...’
Perry Yates called the butler over.
"Master, what are your orders?"
"Same as usual. Log these cards into the item system, but don’t display them publicly yet. Wait until I’ve reviewed them," Perry Yates said, emptying all the cards out of the Space Backpack.
The butler rolled over a large vacuum cleaner from the side and sucked all the cards into it. The vacuum cleaner was also a card.
"Master, you have accumulated a large backlog of cards awaiting review," the butler reminded her.
Hearing this, Perry Yates waved her hand dismissively. "It’s fine. The cards in the system are sufficient for now. I’ve got a big order on my hands, and those cards were just the down payment. Also, go and see if you can find any items suitable for creating an arena. Bring all of them to me."
