Perry Yates was pleased with Sylas Sawyer’s understanding and proceeded to state her requirements.

"First, the purity must be high. Then, it needs to be hard and tough. It also has to be deceptive in some way, sharp, and preferably toxic. And nothing radioactive."

After hearing Perry’s requirements, Sylas Sawyer frowned deeply. "The requirements you’ve listed are impossible to find in a single type of ore," he said.

"Who said I wanted just one type of ore? I want several types. How many I get depends on how well you do. Just don’t get too many—no more than ten. And also..."

As she spoke, Perry Yates suddenly leaned closer to Sylas Sawyer, her expression serious. "Size doesn’t matter," she said. "I want the best."

Seeing her expression, Sylas Sawyer recognized her seriousness. "I understand," he said. "I’ll pass your request on to the Survival Game Administration. When do you need them?"

"The sooner, the better. Have them delivered to me before the next game."

With that, Perry Yates’s figure vanished on the spot.

Sylas Sawyer watched Perry Yates disappear, looking as if he were already used to it. He then pulled a communicator from his pocket.

Meanwhile, finally getting a chance to rest, Perry Yates decided to go out for a bit of shopping.

’Even though I don’t lack for anything, the joy of shopping is in the act of buying, not in what you actually buy.’

After leaving The Card Tavern, Perry Yates was immediately stunned by the scene outside.

’What’s going on? I remember picking a location surrounded by abandoned, half-finished buildings. When did it get so bustling? You can’t even tell it used to be deserted.’

But on second thought, she figured it out. ’This is probably because of me.’

’Oh, well. Who cares? It’s not my problem.’

Perry Yates quickly put the matter out of her mind.

You had to admit, the place was genuinely lively. People bustled back and forth, and the surrounding shops sold all sorts of things. While it wasn’t packed shoulder-to-shoulder, the area was still abuzz with activity.

Perry Yates began to wander around, taking her time. Grilled sausages, deep-fried sausages, griddled noodles, savory crepes, more griddled noodles... She bought something from nearly every food stall she passed.

’I haven’t had this kind of fried food, with all the cumin and chili, in so long. It’s delicious.’

Perry Yates sighed in contentment as she ate. Just then, a sudden commotion broke out up ahead.

Seeing the commotion, Perry’s eyes lit up. ’Some excitement!’ But her expression quickly soured into a frown. ’Why is it *her* of all people?’

Her desire to watch the spectacle was instantly extinguished. Without a moment’s hesitation, Perry Yates turned and walked away.

She continued on until she reached the city center.

A large screen was mounted in the middle of the square.

Usually, it displayed celebrity endorsements, but right now, it was showing a livestream.

The stream was broadcasting the progress of someone climbing the Heavenly Ascension Ladder.

The person in the livestream was the fastest climber of them all, having already passed the five hundredth step.

When the Thirty Thousand Heaven-Ascending Ladder first appeared, countless people eagerly rolled up their sleeves, wanting to give it a try. Many believed they were the one-in-a-million protagonist destined to conquer it and change their fate.

However, that initial excitement was completely extinguished after a few straight days of watching the livestream.

Professionally trained soldiers with unwavering determination had spent days just to barely clear the five-hundred-step mark. While that might seem impressive, it was nothing compared to the ladder’s full thirty thousand steps.

Most people had sobered up by now. Only a small, stubborn minority still believed that others’ failures were irrelevant and that they would surely succeed where others had failed.

Many gyms had even started offering "Heavenly Ascension Ladder training packages." Their slogan was: "You’ve got the will of steel; now get the stamina to match." After all, even without any other trials, just climbing thirty thousand steps was enough to kill a person from sheer exhaustion.

Perry Yates wandered around until evening, stuffing herself with more street food, before she finally decided to head back.

But when she was only halfway there, she received a phone call.

It was her eldest maternal uncle. He said something had happened to Old Master Alden and that he wanted her to come see him.

Perry Yates stared at her phone after the call ended, her expression filled with suspicion.

’Something happened to Old Master Alden? For some reason, I just don’t believe it.’

’I haven’t forgotten that Xavier Alden gave him a "life-extending package" not too long ago. How could anything possibly happen to him after that?’

’This isn’t a trap, is it?’

Lost in thought, Perry Yates stopped in her tracks. Her body flickered for a moment. Then, she hailed a cab and set off for the old Alden Family residence.

Had Randy Payne witnessed that, he might have thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. But in truth, during that brief flicker, Perry Yates had swapped places with her Moon Avatar.

Perry Yates’s real body was already back at The Card Tavern. She lay on her bed, eyes closed, her consciousness connected to the Moon Avatar.

’Even though I suspect this is a trap, Old Master Alden is my mother’s own father—my grandfather. I can’t just not show up. So, I’ll send the clone instead. If something goes wrong, it can take the fall.’

Meanwhile, upon arriving at the old Alden Family residence, Perry Yates paid her fare and got out of the car.

The moment she stepped out of the car, a woman with a graceful and noble air came forward to greet her.

"My dear, why did you take a taxi? Aren’t there enough cars in our family for you to use?"

The woman’s face was a mask of benevolence, her tone cloyingly sweet. To an outsider, she would have appeared to be a kind, doting elder. Perry Yates, however, wasn’t buying it.

She coolly sidestepped the woman’s outstretched hand. "Are you joking, Second Aunt?" she said, her voice cold. "I wouldn’t dare drive an Alden Family car. After all, those belong to my cousins. How could an outsider like me presume to use them?"

Perry Yates was throwing the woman’s own words back in her face.

Sure enough, the woman’s expression froze the moment she heard Perry’s reply, though she recovered almost instantly. "Oh, you silly girl. That was just a bit of teasing back then. You didn’t take it to heart, did you?"

"Teasing?" A faint smile touched Perry’s lips, but it never reached her eyes. "It seems Second Aunt really enjoys a good joke. In that case, I’ll have to make sure to joke around more with Second Uncle and my cousins from now on."

Ignoring the woman behind her, Perry Yates turned and walked inside.

’Ah, the feeling of revenge. In a word: sweet.’

’Still, seeing my Second Aunt waiting at the door to greet me... I’m more and more convinced this is a trap.’

Bracing herself, she stepped into the house. ’Whoa,’ she thought, looking at the people inside. ’The whole gang’s here.’

Perry Yates simply nodded at them in greeting.
