It was an ice-blue, rhombus-shaped entity, but Perry Yates had no idea what it was. She’d have to wait until the block of ice melted completely to find out.

However, as the ice continued to melt, a scalding sensation began to emanate from Perry Yates’s wrist, growing hotter and hotter.

’There’s danger!’

Perry Yates instinctively took a few steps back, putting distance between herself and the rapidly melting block of ice.

She wanted to stow away the burning fire, but it was too late.

BANG!

The block of ice exploded, sending shards flying everywhere. Something had apparently burst out from within.

Seeing this, Perry Yates instinctively shielded her front with her arms as all her Defense Skills and defensive items activated.

Once the ice shards settled, Perry Yates finally got a clear look at what it was.

A thick, muscular human hand had appeared where the block of ice had been.

Its skin was blue and its massive palm was clenched into a fist. The skin on its exposed arm was covered in fine, dense, long hair.

’Don’t tell me there’s some kind of monster Sealed beneath this cave.’

As Perry Yates had this thought, she glanced around, considering her escape routes.

’The clenched fist means the monster isn’t awake yet. I still have a chance to get out. But the sound of my tools breaking through the wall will probably wake it up. I have to be fast.’

With that thought, Perry Yates sprang into action.

But just as she raised her tool, the massive hand, which had been clenched into a fist, began to stir.

The arm swayed gently, and the chunks of ice piled around it instantly tumbled away.

Hearing the noise, Perry Yates thought the monster hidden beneath the ice was about to break its Seal and awaken. A moment later, however, the massive, clenched fist slowly unfurled.

In the center of its massive palm grew an eye, a nose, and a mouth.

’So, it wasn’t a monster buried underground that was waking up—the hand *was* the monster.’

"You’re the one who woke me?"

The hand’s voice was sharp, but not feminine. If anything, it sounded like the eunuchs from historical dramas on TV.

The creature hadn’t attacked her yet, but Perry Yates didn’t let her guard down.

"I saved you," Perry Yates said bluntly. "Are you going to repay me?"

Upon hearing Perry Yates’s words, the massive hand started roaring with laughter as if it had heard the funniest joke in the world. It laughed so hard that tears started to well up.

The shrill sound reverberated through the cramped space, a noise so piercing it was beyond painful.

Perry Yates frowned and covered her ears. Then, while the hand was bent over with laughter, she retrieved the inextinguishable fire and the rhombus-shaped crystal that the explosion had sent flying near her.

In truth, she had only been testing the waters with her comment about repayment. No matter how she looked at it, this giant hand didn’t seem the type to show gratitude.

Elsewhere, Perry Yates might not judge a book by its cover—or in this case, a hand by its... hand. But this was Cave Survival. All living things that appeared in the cave were automatically classified as enemies.

Finally, the massive hand had its fill of laughter. It straightened its back—no, its wrist—and said, "You saved me. I should indeed repay my debt of gratitude. How about this: from now on, you will stay by my side and be my personal handmaiden."

The hand’s expression was one of supreme arrogance, as if it were bestowing some incredible honor.

But just as it was waiting to hear Perry Yates’s words of gratitude, her figure suddenly appeared right in front of the massive hand.

The blue, rhombus-shaped crystal appeared in her hand. A second later, she plunged it directly into the massive hand’s eye.

The hand probably never expected the seemingly harmless Perry Yates to fight back. The entire motion was met with no resistance.

Intense pain caused the massive hand to let out a series of piercing shrieks. The curly hair on its arm shot out in all directions, like the quills of a porcupine.

But Perry Yates was prepared for this. The moment the sharp hairs touched her Wargod Kai, they crumbled to dust.

Seeing the crystal was only a third of the way in, Perry Yates put her weight into it, driving the entire thing deep into the arm.

After finishing, Perry Yates retreated a few steps to a safe spot and watched the massive hand go berserk.

As it thrashed, blue liquid sprayed from the wound. The instant the fluid touched the ground, the area froze solid.

Seeing this, Perry Yates quickly pulled out an umbrella to shield herself from the spray.

After about ten minutes of this, the massive hand finally couldn’t take it anymore. It collapsed to the ground and fell still.

Looking at the completely lifeless hand, Perry Yates couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. ’This thing was really durable. It struggled for a full ten minutes before it finally croaked.’

Earlier, when she’d picked up the rhombus-shaped crystal while the hand was doubled over in laughter, she had also used her Identification Skill on it. The result revealed it was a Sealing Stone.

[Sealing Stone: A legendary item used to Seal certain things.

Usage: Insert the Sealing Stone into the body of the target you wish to Seal. The deeper it is inserted, the more thorough the Seal.]

Perry Yates didn’t know how strong the massive hand was, but it had appeared along with the Sealing Stone. As the saying goes, every poison has its antidote. That’s why she’d risked it.

’Looks like I guessed right.’

’The Sealing Stone really could handle the massive hand.’

Just as Perry Yates was about to step forward and inspect the body, she received another notification from her bracelet.

’Wait, the hand isn’t fully Sealed yet. It’s playing dead.’

Realizing this, Perry Yates instantly drew back her foot. ’The Sealing Stone is already inside it,’ she thought. ’It’s only a matter of time before it takes full effect. All I have to do is wait here. I don’t need to do anything else.’

After waiting another ten-odd minutes, the motionless hand suddenly twitched.

Just as Perry Yates thought it couldn’t keep up the act and was about to launch a final, desperate attack, a white light suddenly radiated from the hand’s form.

The white light instantly enveloped the hand. Then, the light began to shrink, and shrink, and shrink again, until it was the size of a playing card, at which point it vanished completely.

Perry Yates walked over and picked up the card from the ground.

She was a bit disappointed when she saw the card’s level.

’All that commotion, and in the end, it was just a one-star card? What a joke.’

But no matter how displeased she was, Perry Yates couldn’t change the fact that it was, indeed, a one-star card.

She flipped the card over to look at its face.

The face of the card depicted a severed hand. It was an icy blue color and had sharp claws, but no facial features.
