Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 64: Solara 2She already had a basic understanding of this game, so she didn’t need to hunt for clues everywhere like the other players.
But she couldn’t just stay in her room and do nothing. After all, she still had to find the cards.
Judging from the two times she’d already found cards, this game was more like a treasure hunt. The cards could be hidden in any number of unexpected places.
Besides, it wasn’t like she could truly do nothing at all.
Perry Yates rolled over in bed, shifting from her back to her stomach.
’How can I rush all over the city openly without attracting any attention?’
Just as she was thinking this, her phone suddenly rang.
"Hello, your food delivery has been left at the front desk."
"Okay, thanks."
After hanging up, Perry Yates’s eyes suddenly lit up. ’That’s it, a food delivery driver.’
She could disguise herself as a delivery driver. That way, she wouldn’t attract any attention.
No sooner said than done. After eating, Perry Yates immediately went to rent an electric scooter and a delivery driver’s uniform.
In addition, her other Clones weren’t idle either.
Perry Yates had them disguise themselves as sanitation workers, janitors, and other such personnel to search the city for cards and gather information.
By "information," she meant game data—seeing if there was anything worth bringing back besides the cards.
The Clones ran on her energy, so to prevent them from suddenly disappearing and causing a panic, Perry Yates didn’t have them actually apply for jobs. They just wore similar-looking outfits.
As long as they kept their faces covered, there was no need to worry about other players discovering them.
Once everything was ready, Perry Yates returned to her guesthouse and had a comfortable night’s sleep. The next morning, she changed into the delivery driver’s uniform, hopped on her electric scooter, and set off.
Since Perry Yates hadn’t actually registered for a delivery driver account, she didn’t have to take orders and deliver food.
She had only one purpose: to familiarize herself with the city’s layout and roads, and to look for cards along the way.
And supplies, of course.
Since she knew the game’s content ahead of time, Perry Yates hadn’t brought much food with her this time.
At best, the food she had on her was only enough for a little over ten days.
With that in mind, Perry Yates took out her phone, opened a food delivery app, and started browsing the local cuisine.
While it would be cheaper and more cost-effective to buy staples like rice, flour, and oil, she would have to cook them herself.
Setting aside the question of whether Perry Yates even had the time, her guesthouse didn’t have the right facilities.
She couldn’t very well borrow the owner’s kitchen. It wasn’t completely out of the question, but cooking so much food at once would definitely make people suspicious.
Perry Yates looked at the various delicacies recommended on the app. Drawing on her years of experience ordering takeout, she selected all her favorites.
’Thirty days... no, twenty-nine days. At three meals a day, that’s eighty-seven meals. The guesthouse provides breakfast, so I can save on that meal.’
’But that arrangement probably won’t last until day thirty.’
After all, according to the clues she had, this was a natural disaster game, and the disaster in question was torrential rain and flooding.
When the time came, many parts of the city would likely be flooded, including the guesthouse where Perry Yates was staying.
Since she was on the ground floor, it would definitely be affected.
Still, she could move to a higher floor, and she also had an item card for the Instant Teleportation Skill.
She had even deliberately brought a boat with her into the game this time.
’Shelter and transport are covered. All that’s left is food and clothing.’
She didn’t need to worry about water. With the Magic Water Pot, she had more than enough for herself.
She had brought her own clothes, but it wouldn’t hurt to buy a few more sets. After all, with the coming rain, doing laundry would be impossible, so her only option was to have extras.
And she needed things for warmth.
Perry Yates opened the notes app on her phone, her fingers flying as she edited the list. She then trimmed it down, since she had limited funds.
Soon, having finalized her shopping list, Perry Yates sprang into action.
First, she found a pharmacy and bought a standard first-aid kit.
Just as she was about to pay, a woman walked in and said to the pharmacist, "I’d like to buy some common medicines."
"If you’re looking for common medicines, we recommend this standard first-aid kit. It’s filled with frequently used items, it’s a great value, and it only costs two hundred."
"Okay, I’ll take it." The woman pulled two crumpled bills from her pocket.
Before leaving, the woman glanced at Perry Yates, who was also holding a first-aid kit. A suspicious look lingered on her for a second before her expression returned to normal.
"Probably not."
Meanwhile, Perry Yates put the first-aid kit into the rear storage box of her scooter, though in reality, she slipped it into her Space Backpack.
After that, she found a well-rated restaurant on the delivery app. She called them directly and, under the guise of a family celebration, ordered several banquet-style feasts, arranging to pick them up herself the next day.
With food taken care of, fruit was the next essential.
She then headed to a fruit market and bought a large amount of her favorite fruits.
Passing by a boba shop, she stopped to buy some milk tea.
By the end of the day, Perry Yates had covered nearly all of Solara, getting a good feel for the city’s layout.
Although she knew this game involved torrential rain and flooding, she wasn’t clear on the specifics—how heavy the downpour would be, how long it would last, or how severe the flooding would become.
While the Immersive Experience allowed one to go through the game once in an Illusion Realm, an Illusion Realm was still just an illusion, and there were always differences between it and reality.
So, even though she already had a strategy, Perry Yates prepared a Plan B.
She observed the taller buildings in the area, memorizing their locations.
It wasn’t until night was falling that Perry Yates returned to her guesthouse.
As soon as she got back, she saw the door to the room next to hers was open. A moment later, a vibrant, stylishly dressed young woman walked out.
By this point, Perry Yates had already changed out of her delivery driver uniform.
After all, a delivery driver staying at a guesthouse instead of renting an apartment was suspicious no matter how you looked at it.
Upon seeing Perry Yates, the young woman took the initiative to greet her. "Hi there! Are you here on vacation, too? My boyfriend and I just got here, and we don’t know our way around at all. Could you maybe give us some recommendations?"
