Chapter 511: Chapter 520: Too Ugly
The worst thing is suffering a loss and not even realizing it, continuing to act the same way as before. That’s when someone is truly beyond saving.
So, Stella Sterling said, "I’ve already heard about what happened. I know everything. I don’t blame you for not being strong enough. Do you know what your only mistake was? You were overconfident. You didn’t know when to avoid a direct confrontation!"
"You’ve all learned your lesson this time. I trust that from now on, you’ll know what to do better than anyone. So, I won’t lecture you further. However, if something like this happens again, I’m sure I won’t need to be the one to teach you a lesson—you’ll pay for it with your own lives. So, it’s time to grow up, everyone!"
Hearing Stella Sterling’s words, the members of Caeluna Base nodded.
They were both touched and ashamed. Sterling hadn’t punished them for their failure.
But they couldn’t get over the guilt they felt.
"Alright, it’s all in the past. There’s no need to dwell on it. Like I said, you’ve all improved a lot lately."
"People grow and improve by learning from their mistakes, one lesson at a time. It’s a necessary part of life."
Stella Sterling spoke again, but this time, there was a hint of a smile in her voice.
It instantly made everyone relax, their tense moods from before easing considerably.
They quickly shook off their gloomy feelings. Since Sterling had put it that way, there was no need for them to keep blaming themselves.
What mattered most was to take this lesson to heart for the future.
Now, everyone curiously sized up Stella Sterling, wondering how Sterling had done it. The face before them was completely different from her old one.
Even if you didn’t look closely—no, even if you did—you wouldn’t be able to tell that the person in front of them was Sterling.
If Sterling hadn’t revealed herself to them, they could have passed her on the street face-to-face and never recognized her.
They never expected Sterling to have such makeup skills. She truly was their boss.
After chatting for a while, the others left, leaving only Stella Sterling, Black Swan, and Seven Locke.
At that moment, Seven Locke was still staring at Stella Sterling’s face, looking like she had something to say but was holding back.
Seeing her expression, Stella Sterling raised a hand and said, "If you have something to say, just say it. Watching you hesitate like that is tiring me out!"
Hearing this, a flash of embarrassment crossed Seven Locke’s eyes. After a moment’s hesitation, she kept her eyes on Stella Sterling and asked, "Sterling, why do you look like this? Can you change back to how you were before?"
Seeing Stella Sterling’s confused look, Seven Locke boldly elaborated, "This look is too ugly. It’s not good at all. Your real face is much better."
Looking at the dark-skinned woman before her, Seven Locke just found it odd. After all, facing a completely unfamiliar face felt strange.
Most importantly, her Sterling was so beautiful. Why would she present herself to people looking like this?
Hearing Seven Locke’s completely undisguised words, the corner of Stella Sterling’s mouth twitched. ’Is it really that ugly?’
She was a bit tanner, but her own facial features were still there. She thought it looked fine, certainly not ugly.
But her own subordinate had made her opinion so clear. ’Could it be that my current appearance is really that bad?’
Since she was the one who had told her to speak her mind, she couldn’t exactly blame her. So, she said, "I had some business to take care of, so I needed a disguise. Once this is all settled, I’ll naturally change back!"
Hearing this, Seven Locke nodded in relief.
As long as Sterling wasn’t going to look this ugly forever, it was fine.
Even if Sterling became ugly, she would still be the Sterling she respected and admired most. But no matter what, she still preferred seeing her beautiful Sterling.
She was relieved to hear that Sterling would eventually change back.
But then she realized that her words just now had been a bit too blunt. No wonder Sterling’s expression had looked a little off.
So, she tried to explain, "Sterling, I didn’t mean you’re ugly now!"
Stella Sterling froze. ’She’s really doubling down on this, isn’t she?’
The moment the words left her mouth, Seven Locke realized she had misspoken again and quickly tried to backtrack. "Sterling, I mean, you look good now, too! It’s just that you looked even better before. You used to be an absolute stunner. Now, you’re just... a tiny, tiny bit less so!"
As she spoke, she made a pinching gesture with her fingers to show it was just a tiny bit.
Stella Sterling waved her hand dismissively. "Alright, alright, that’s enough of that. I brought a lot of things with me this time. Seeing as you all have been having a rough time, I thought I’d add some extra food to your meal tonight. Let’s fill your stomachs."
Only then did Seven Locke notice the large pile of things next to Black Swan and Sterling.
Her eyes immediately lit up. She then called over several people, "Brothers, we’re in for a treat tonight! Sterling’s giving us extra food!"
The others cheered as well. They had really been struggling lately; it was a far cry from how they had lived back at Caeluna Base.
It was great to have Sterling back. Even their food was finally getting better.
"Sterling, did you get to Veridia before us? Where have you been staying all this time?"
Seven Locke asked curiously.
Stella Sterling, however, was suddenly reminded of Zane Xavier and his group. She had initially told them she would be right back, but so much time had passed, and she still hadn’t returned.
Her original plan was to help Felix Lawrence and his group solve their problems and then immediately head back. It shouldn’t have taken much time.
But she hadn’t expected to run into Black Swan. In order to meet up with them, she had been delayed even further.
And the appearance of Black Swan and the others had also changed her previous arrangements.
Now she had to think. After reuniting with Black Swan and the team, should she stick with them or temporarily return to the Three Tigers Corps and figure things out from there?
After only a moment’s hesitation, Stella Sterling made up her mind. Since she had already reunited with Black Swan and the others, it was natural to start implementing their original plan and not waste any more time.
As for Zane Xavier, she would go find him after her business here was concluded and bring him back to Caeluna Base with her.
